I am trying to pull some report details from a website. my home page is having a list of Report IDs, by clicking them i will be navigated to the detailed reports.. Similarly i have so many report IDs in my home page... i have loaded my page in webBrowser1 and capture the link of the first report id by looping through the page. After capturing the link of first report id i am trying to navigate to the link using webBrwoser2 which is placed in the same form. the page loaded sucessfully and i can extract the report to the textbox.
Here is the problem : before complete the navigation action in webbrowser2 the first loop used to get the links of report IDs got completed. So i am not able to loop all the report ID's Link to get all details.
I am not sure i am doing the right way of extracting a data from a web page..
I need to be able to add buttons to a tool strip at run time. As of now I've been able to get the buttons to display with a nice little picture just how he wants and some text under it. Just can't figure out how to "enable" the click event for these buttons. Obviously I need them to do something rather than just sit there looking good and this is where I'm stuck. Right now I'd be happy for a message box to come up saying yep I'm working as I could then work with that. This is what I have for code so far... this is just to get it working I'll work on the actual code later.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim btnSomething As New ToolStripButton
btnSomething.Text = "Test 1"

I'm trying to figure out how to make dragable controls like the ones in paint.net. see the attachment. they look like forms kind of because they have the red x at the top like a form does, but it kind of looks like a custom control too. Is it possible to make these types of controls in VB.Net 2008.
View 2 RepliesThe Parent has a Tool Strip and on the tool strip is a button that when clicked loads the child, this works fine.But when I set the child form to maximize its title-bar jumps over the Parent tool strip. Pushing it down a bit. I do what this. I would like the child to be completely contained within the Parent including the Parent forms tool strip.
View 6 RepliesThis is a very basic question, I have a parent form and a child form and both window state are set to maximize, would it be possible to remove the toolbar at the top? I have tried most thing like setting the form border style to none on the child form but still I get two tool bars. I would like to remove the tool bar in the black square

I'm using VS2005.net Windows xp Professional Edition.
how to put the tool tip text in status bar label this in form load event
View 14 RepliesI hope I got all that in this question title. Let me explain. We are starting on small desktop app that will snowball into a big app with many forms. The database is SQL Server. It will have classic stored procs/functions performing classic CRUD functions. Given a table or stored proc in SQL Server what is the quickest way to create a form with all the hooks to maintain a table.
For e.g. lets assume I have table like this (most code below is pseudo code)
Table Employee
{
Name varchar(30)
DOB Datetime
Address varchar(100)
}
From this as source I want to create my Target which is form with 3 labels and 3 textboxes with add delete modify buttons (or OK button to add if not exists or modify if exists)
[Code]..
The code generation tool or technique that will be used should generate the correct db hooks (create SQL parameters, SqlCommand, execute sql.. basic try catch etc. Is there any open source tool to do this ? Some trick or templated approach via VS 2010 ? Worst case any third party tool ?
I used error provider tool to display the error when the textbox is empty. when the error message is displayed immediately it is inserting the record into the database.I want to clear the error and then insert. how to take the control to textbox?

i was working a program that has two forms. first form1 has a datagridview for viewing. with a button ADD and SAVE and disregardchanges.then when i click add another form2 with textboxes to input data. with buttons ADDTODATA, ADDANOTHER and CLOSE when i click ADDTODATA the data will add to datagridview in form 1 and when i click ADDANOTHER i also input another add ADD to datagridview to view.and when i get back to form 1 i have a choice if i will SAVE ot DISREGARDCHANGES. if i click save all data will save.
I used this code in adding data to table.
Dim dsNewRow As DataRow
dsNewRow = ds2.Tables("NewEmpChildren").NewRow()
dsNewRow.Item("dbIDNo") = txtIDNo.Text

but nothing changes. it seems that my connection is close when i close form2. how can i make my connection still open when i close form two or any code that will substitute with my code. im a student and this is for my project.
I have been trying for a good while to save the forms icon(the one shown in the taskbar & such to a file...using such code as Me.Icon.Save(stream) & writing the stream to disk for example but every time I do there is a loss of color information it seems, maybe due to not using 32-bit color or lossless color or something...by what I see online it only uses 24-bit color or something.?Not sure what the problem is specifically but the point is there is a loss of color information.if I use Me.Icon.ToBitmap.Save() it works & saves right but it saves as type .png by default, regardless of the extension & not an actual icon file(.ico) which would be usable in the editor itself as an icon how do I convert it or save it correctly to begin with but without the loss of color information.This is basically a test project to see what I can do & what I still need to work on...and this is apparently one spot but I can't figure out the problem after searching bing, google and a few other search sites and reviewing the top 100 links of each to see if any contain any useful information on how to get this working....

View 4 RepliesI'm totally new to the programming area. I'm using VB 2008 and I'm trying to save three textboxes in a text format. I have tried some code but my problem is that I don't want to save always at the same name (test.txt). How can I do it.
Here is the code that I'm using (and probably has lot of mistakes :'( )
Public Class Form1
Const mForm1Name As String = "c:est.txt"
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim Form1 As System.IO.StreamWriter
[Code] .....
I understand that the problem is on the top where I've placed Const mForm1Name As String = "c:est.txt", but when I'm taking it out gives back a mistake. Also my form doesn't close when I save.
So I'm a beginner and I'm guessing this has been asked before, but can anyone tell me how to save multiple inputs from textboxes and radio buttons etc. as one whole umm... thing in a STANDALONE form. I don't want any extra CFG or INI files etc. Kind of like how a new profile in a game would work. I'm a beginner so please try to keep it simple (or if you already know of a thread with the exact same question please link that as a reply instead).
View 2 RepliesI'm a newbee with VBnet , I use vbnet2005 I have a major form called FORM1, and when I click the bottons in it it shows another form for example-I have these some forms (printscreen):
FORM1 - major form
FORM2 - calculation form ( there are few forms like this)
FORM3 - result form
What I need is:When I open FORM2 and get results I push the botton SEND and then it should send the values into FORM3 I don't know if the public variable will be good here because they are not constant , I can get different results in FORM2 ,and these results should be writen in textboxes only after I push send bottom.
I hope it is clear , I don't know how to do it,if you can give me a code for this or detailed answer , I would be very glad.

View 2 RepliesI am trying to get my project to be able to save the data been input from a user. I have uploaded a screen shot of the dialog I am currently trying to use. You will see that I have got a combobox for member at the top. What I want is when the "new" button gets clicked then I can add the desired information then click "Ok buttton which will then save the information.
I want to be able to select members from the combobox after multiple have been recorded to be able to delete or edit them. I have got as far as "changing" the combobox to a textbox for input purposes. I have tried a few attempts to get it. I am getting "ConfigurationErrorsException was unhandled"

how to save a forms position on the screen? So I can use it to set a working area?
I just want to save its current location to 4 variables
I have been working on a project which is used by a company's sale team, to combine all the wanted input data in one place allowing the sales team to show customers, where switching to them could save them money.
Basically what i want is a program which can save single records, which can hold data added in other text boxes, or indeed take the data from the list view boxes which is the intended output. I want to be able to save that data, then be able to Open it up again at a later date, and even modify it.
enabled me to save the three ways to identify a single record, the index number, company name and the date it was added. However I now need a way to save the data entered in my other forms to these single records.
