Button Interrupt To Stop Doing Continuous Event?

Apr 27, 2010

I have an event I want to do continuously until a button interrupt is pressed.
Here's the pseudo
Click button 1:
Check if button 2 is pressed
If not, do stuff
If so, stop doing stuff
End routine

So what I currently have is this:
Dim randominteger As Integer = 0
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles StartSampleButton.Click
[Code] .....
Unfortunately, it's never breaking outside of the first loop. How to get around it?

Capture A Program Initializing And Stop It, So It Doesn't Interrupt Code?

A spreadsheet formatter that I made for the department opens and closes Excel spreadsheets in the backround. If someone opens Excel while the macro is running, it stalls the entire program. I need a way to sense Excel opening, then stop it, preferably with a message box saying what just happened.

Thread.Interrupt() Doesn't Interrupt A Thread That Is In A Sleeping State?

Aug 18, 2009

Microsoft's System.io.file.exists and System.io.directory.exists can take FOREVER, especially if you're in a situation, where you've unplugged from the network and you're looking in a share.

So, to get around this, I've created a thread that times out after 3 seconds. Returning false, if the calls above haven't yet returned. To do this, my main thread passes its instance to the new thread and immediately calls:

Thread.Sleep(TimeOutInSeconds * 1000) ' Where TimeOUtInSeconds = 3
The new thread then goes and checks for the file / folder using the System.io.file.exists / System.io.directory.exists functions.
Regardless of the result, then it uses the main thread's reference to call Thread.Interrupt().

My main thread doesn't get interrupted. It stays there for the full 3 seconds. If I were to change that to 3 minutes ( and I have ), it'll sleep for 3 minutes.

Stopping Multiple Timers - Stop Button To Stop Each Timer One At A Time

Feb 26, 2009

Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.

My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

VS 2010 : Use A Stop Button To Stop A Loop?

Dec 7, 2009

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.

Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.

Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

#End Region
Declare Function InitStp Lib "stp.dll" () As Integer
Declare Function RunMotor1 Lib "stp.dll" (ByVal steps As Integer, ByVal interval As Integer, ByVal direction As Integer, ByVal outputs As Integer) As Boolean

Stop Enter Button From Pressing A Button?

Jun 16, 2011

I have a form that you can type in a four digit code and press enter and will will run some code on a database. The problem occurs when a user click their 4 digit ID number and then click enter, the next user then comes up, types their 4 digit ID on the number pad and when they press enter it runs the code twice (this is due to the fact that the enter button has focus, meaning i intercept the enter, run my code, then the button runs that same code)

SAPI - How To Interrupt The Speech

Jan 17, 2012

I'm using a long string using SAPI speech and I want to be able stop the speech rather than have to listen to it babble on throughout the whole thing. So, in one function, we'll say it's the load function, it declares a speech string: [Code] I'm trying to get it to abort reading the audio but can't seem to figure out how to get it working. I've seen examples that have used SVSFlagsAsync and SVSFPurgeBefore Speak but I can't get either to be recognized and I've added (what I believe to be) the necessary resources to the library and added the imports at the top of the page. Does anyone know how to interrupt the speech?

Stop WebBrowser KeyDown Event?

Feb 27, 2011

I'm using a webBrowser control as a simple HTML editor & I'm trying to stop the default action of creating a new <p> (paragraph) element every time you hit the enter key while typing text into the control.

I have added a handler for the keyDown event & I can insert a break tag, but nothing I do seems to be able to stop the webBrowser from continuing to process the event.

As you can see in the code I tried setting the e.BubbleEvent to false to stop the event.

The added event handler works just fine & executes before the webBrowser processes the event, but setting the e.BubbleEvent=False (or true) has no effect.[code]...

VS 2005 : Stop Combobox Event Firing During Databinding?

Mar 29, 2010

I have the following code that populates a combobox:

With Me.ClassSelector
.DataSource = DataAccess.Utilities.ReferenceDataUtils.GetLookupTableData("Category_code_classes")
.DisplayMember = "Category_text"
.ValueMember = "category_class"
End With

However, the SelectedValueChanged event fires once when I set the datasource and again when I set the valuemember. In both instances there is a selected value, although that value was not selected by any user action, but rather because of the loading of the combo box.I don't think there's a 'SurpressEventFiring' property for the combobox, so how to you check to see if the change in the selection was a result of user action and not data loading?Perhaps I'm populating my combobox wrong?

edit: changed 'displaymember' to 'valuemember'
