Does anyone have an idea why I can't get C# to fill the string array? Additionally, the function in VB is called with ref to a System.Array ValidateLine(ref System.Array ValErrors), perhaps it has something to do with this?
I want to write a quick program that fills a 2D array with quiz scores. Consider there is 5 Students and each have completed 3 Quizes. I want the program to display a class average as well as a student average.
I've gotten as far as a nested for/next loop but I am stumbling over the language for accumulating and displaying the average.[code]...
I'm using the following code to read in a highscores file with the score written first and the player's name written to the next line, and then display the top 3 scores or fewer if there aren't 3 scores written to the file. A highscores display should have the scores sorted with the highest first so that's what this program tries to implement.
Array.sort() isn't doing a damn thing. In fact, the program's not even reversing the arrays like it should either. I've tested array.sort() this way with the names and scores arrays given explicitly and it works fine. I thought maybe it was still reading the data as string even though it's declared otherwise but it rounds off decimals when I change the array type to Integer so I'm pretty sure it's not that.
I have no idea why reading the data in from a file changes how it's sorted. My teacher didn't understand what was going on either. Does anyone know what's going on here?

I have buttons generated through code (dynamically). I have to associate an event (the same) to them. I use AddHandler button.click, AddressOf mysub.The issue is that mysub gets a string (mysub(string)), but AddressOf doesn't accept a parameter inside the routine. How can I do this? Using also an alternative to AddressOf.

The string itself contains things like "random" & random.next(1,3) & "random2" etc. The string registers all of this as a string and doesn't actually calculate random numbers.Is there any way to fix this?

but it doesn't work..it goes super fast and only fills in the last listboxitem.i want now that every 10 secs a new listbox item is filled in in the status box on twitter and posts the tweet.
[Code] this code iterates through 5 text boxes to check that the value entered is numeric and also that there are no blank spaces. How would i put this into .net as it doesn't seem possible to hold the text boxes in array.
I want to change the color of the progress that fills the progressbar, its default is green but i would like to change it to red or any other color if possible.
I have one table from where two comboboxes get their drop down lists, showing info that has been entered into the table (boxes are bound to the table columns I.E City (Box1) and Country (Box2). what I would like to do is if a city is selected in box1 then box2 will autofill with the country name.

I'm making a program where the user fills out info, then they click one button and the program takes a screenshot of the form, then they click another button and the screenshot gets saved. I'm having a couple problems with my code though. For one, I'm trying to make the screenshot go to an invisible picturebox to make saving easier, but I cant figure out how to make the image go to the picturebox. The other problem is that I want it to automatically save without showing the dialog, but so far, it won't save.

I've created a polygon shape and filled which fills blue on startup.Upon toggling a check box it should be filled yellow.It doesn't go yellow (unless i step through in debugging).
I am developing an application, for a university project, which is using GDI to draw a flag, my application is also equiped with an undo stack, which is, essensially, where the problem is, so what happens is: I push the draw button to draw a box, when I do that, the solution normally creates the box and stores the object to the undo stack; however, when I ask it to undo the box, and refresh the panel, it randomly adds, endless threads to the undo stack, additionally, everytime that I set the panel to refresh in the undo procedure, it affects the draw procedure; therefore, when I tell it to draw a box, it fills the undo stach with five threads at a time, sometimes, it fills it with much more than five, and sometimes it keeps filling up the undo stack, untill I stop the debugging proccess. I have a VB .NET (VS 2008) application which allows the user to drag and drop a xls file onto the form and a DataGridView fills with the xls sheet data. The user than can apply changes to the data or add entries. Data integrity is checked during the load into the DataGridView (duplicates are removed and invalid entries are filtered out). After doing all this the user can click a button and the data is uploaded to a SQL server (2008) DB. I have a primary key set up (row number) and I have a compound key in the SQL table.
It is all working beautifully. Now here is my question:
I want to check for duplicate entries (between SQL server and DataGridView data) before the data is uploaded and commited to the table. What would be the most efficient way to that?

I am writing an OPC Client in VB.NET (2008) and I am using an OPC wrapper from Graybox. I am having some problems with the data types. I have an Array of String that contains all of the OPC Items that I wish to read from the OPC Server. When I attempt to use the Array of String, Option Strict causes the following compile error message:Error 5 Option Strict On disallows narrowing from type 'System.Array' to type '1-dimensional array of String' in copying the value of 'ByRef' parameter 'ItemIDs' back to the matching argument. How do I pass the Item ID's (all strings) in an array?
I'm receiving a byte array from a network device by using the TcpClient class and as I have no idea how much data will be being sent I have to just declare a buffer that is X number of bytes long and keep reading into that until I've got all of the data. I then convert this byte array to a string using Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString but the problem is that this gets any null bytes that were at the end of the buffer after the string and it includes them in the string. This then means when I do String.EndsWith it doesnt work as I would expect it to because there are just loads of 0 bytes at the end of the string.
Once I had realised that was what was happening (which took a long time as these null bytes are completely invisible when you are looking at the data in String form) I thought fine I'll just use Trim on the string but I've found that this doesnt make any difference at all. I thought Trim was supposed to remove any blank space from the start/end of a string, which I assumed would include empty bytes as well.
So is there any alternative I can use that will trim the empty bytes off the end or do I have to do it the 'manual' way and loop through my byte array before converting it to string and remove any null bytes? One thing that has just popped into my head as I'm typing this is to try using the Chr method and pass it 0 and combine that with Trim like so:
I have an array defined As string and the value stored in site is like "7E", "A1" and so on. But in order to send out this array through serial port. I need to change the the array to As Byte instead of using As String. How can I convert it?
I've been working with a sig capture application sample on a windows mobile device, The data is sent via IP to a host as a byte array and is then drawn onto the screen of the host as it appeared on the client. I was able to get this into the form of a bitmap object so I could print it or save to a jpg file. That all works well. The problem now is that I need to store this data in a database and then be able to recall it at a later time and recreate the signature image.
The byte array data is much smaller than the actual image so I would like to store it in that form. My issue is that when I convert this byte array into a string and back again my program can no longer re-create the image. Once I saw the problem I created the code below as a test and added the msgboxes to get an idea what was happened to my data.

I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.
