Sep 24, 2010I've gotten to a point where I'm trying to add a ComboBox to a UserControl, and to populate it from a collection which exists in code.
I've been getting along pretty much on monkey-see-monkey-do coding for the most part; copying and adapting existing code in order to get the next stage working, but this DataSource stuff has me stumped. I've been through a whole bunch of articles on MSDN this morning and am no closer to understanding than I was when I started.
Let me go through a few of the things that are messing with me, and hopefully you guys will be able to point me in the right direction:
1) None of the [UserControlName].vb files contains any code. All of the code for the UserControls is stored in [UserControlName]Model.vb files, and then code of the following sort is used:

2) I'm pretty sure I only want a Static Source for the moment, as the items in the ComboBox aren't going to change during execution, at this time. Problem is, all the articles I can find about this are gigantic, complex things about creating XML readers, and populating DataGridViews and sorting data, and on and on and on. I just want to declare that I'm using a frealing List! A List I've already created in code.
So, yeah, I basically need to use a Public Property ComboBoxLines As List(Of String) from a class which isn't the same class as the UserControl itself as the DataSource for a ComboBox.

Referencing XAML Custom Control Names And Properties Within Code Behind?
May 13, 2009I've created a Custom Control, and I will be placing a large number of instances of that Custom Control on my xaml page. In working with that Custom Control in the VB Code Behind, how do I do the following?
How do I reference the name of the Custom Control (in my VB code) which was clicked with the MouseLeftButtonDown event? For example, if I have 10 instances of my Custom Control in xaml, each with a different x:name (say 1-10), when a particular instance is clicked, how can I see which one was clicked? I've tried a number of things including e.OriginalSource.Name (which returns the component within the control which was clicked and not the name of the instance of the control). My Custom Control consists of numerous parts and pieces (Rectangles, Lines, Text, etc). Each of these items is a part of my layer. In VB code, once I can reference a particular Control, how can I hide or change certain parts of that control (such as hiding a Line, and changing the text). Also, I need to modify more than just the control which was clicked, so I need to be able to access properties of all of the controls, not just what was clicked. For example, if I click Control instance Test1, I also need to modify Test2, Test3, and Test5 in some way.
Here is some test code I through together as part of a Silverlight project using MS Blend 2. My control is much larger, and I need 200 - 250 instances/copies of that custom control, so I really need to know which control instance/copy was clicked.

WPF Starting Animation From Code Giving Error
Mar 24, 2009I'm trying to trigger an animation declared in the window's XAML file from the window's vb code when an event is raised (calling a function), like a window's "loaded" event.
Here's how I declare the animation (as a storyboard):

May 17, 2011I connected to the Informix server using RazorSQL, created a stored procedure and tested it, getting the expected answer, so the procedure exists in the database in some form.
I then run the following code:

This is so that the animation has time to play and stop and then the rest of the code will display the other picture and the numbers. Is this possible? I tried timer and sleep but I cant get them to work.

I've not found any other way than using a Timer to have the status updated and the other actions done, as as soon as I start the thread, I loose control and "GetList_Button_Click" does not wait or control the thread.
The goal of using the thread is to not freeze the application and also adding a button to cancel the search in the future.
Ajax Call Stops Halfway Through Code

In the above code I am having issue debugging. The point of this is in the HTML I have three select tags.District, County, and City. If you select a District it should update County and City to limit only the Counties or Cities in that District. City works perfectly but County does not. I discovered that when running through this code above if it runs through the County Case segment it just stops filter = String.Format("maintdisnmbr in ({}0)", filterValue). If I step through step by step the code does not finish. If I don't go step by step and jump ahead it gives me an error saying the Input string is not formatted.

I have a selector (radiobuttonlist) that the user can click if he wants to see the table in $ or days.Right now it works perfectly but the page refreshes because i'm calling a code-behind function (RefreshTable) everytime the user clicks on one of the two radiobutton since it changes the format and needs new calculation done by the RefreshTable function

The function has only one parameter : ProjectID, it's coded in VB.NET and we're using ASP.NET

May 28, 2012I am an absolute beginner on ASP.net (VB.) Please pardon me if the question is too obvious for the experienced members.I tried to make a simple WebRequest in the async mode in case the target URL takes long to provide the data. In my code below, I just want to see if the callback block (RespCallback) is called correctly every time. If all goes well, lblResult should have the string '123' appended to it every time I click the button which calls the 'GetData' sub.
However, the lblResult only shows 123 after the first click. After the subsequent click, the lblResult only gets appended with '12', as if RespCallback is never called. When I tried to debug this in Visual Studio, the execution actually stepped right into the RespCallback part and the lblResult.Text watch actually shows '123123' but the resulting Web page always shows only '12312'
I am sure I am missing something basic here, but I just don't know what. I was even guessing that it has to do with browser cache (hence the result changes for the second time) but I don't know how to fix that either.
