Inserting A Wait - So That Animation Has Time To Play And Stop Then Rest Of Code Will Display Other Picture And Numbers
Nov 4, 2011
I have the following
Public Class Form1
Private GIFAnim As Image = Image.FromFile("c:cointosscointoss_ani.gif")
Private frames As Integer
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
This is so that the animation has time to play and stop and then the rest of the code will display the other picture and the numbers. Is this possible? I tried timer and sleep but I cant get them to work.
How do you play an animation from the web into a picture box?I have this code to get the image:
Private Function LoadImageFromUrl(ByVal url As String) As System.Drawing.Image Dim theRequest As System.Net.WebRequest = System.Net.WebRequest.Create(url) Dim theResponse As System.Net.WebResponse = theRequest.GetResponse()
[code]....
(myurl is a string for the location of my animated file.)Edit: it does work but has terible lag how can i stop this?
How can you make a play button play/stop toggle? Currently my button plays a file in WMP but when I click it again, it just restarts the file. I would like it to toggle on and off, play and stop, not play and pause.
i have designed my owm mp3 player . and now i want to add a sound visuvalizer in my program . but i dont now how can i do this? how can i find sound Frequence?
i m trying to create calculator thru vb.net 2005. i have put 2 text box named as txtbox1 and txtbox2 then i have added buttons from 0 - 9 that means 10 different buttons. wen i click on button 1 it displays number 1 in txtbox1. and then wen i click on btn2 it replaces the first entry i have done in the textbox1. i want it to display both the numbers or wen i add any other number it should display it with the fist entry done. so calculation could be done...
I am using VS2010 RC and .NET 4.I have a progress bar control on a form. It works fine, and it shows the value of the bar in the proper position. But, I would like to disable the white "sparkle" that repeatedly moves then length of the bar. also, the value part of the progress bar is Green. Is there any way to change to another color?
How long it would take to generate all of the numbers between 1 and X randomly. X=1,000,000 took 6 seconds, and for 10,000,000 took over a minute. Does that sound reasonable?
Experiment stopwatch start count = 0 do while count < x select a random number between 1 and X inclusive have i selected this number before? no-add 1 to count yes - loop stopwatch stop display elapsed time
I made the Do Loop UI un-friendly and ran this from the IDE using CTRL-F5. My PC is 1.8Ghz and has 2GB of memory. I am using VB 2008, .Net 3.5 SP1. Looking for work - Zip 65101 [URL]
The title says it all. I'm looking for a way to stop flickering in my animations using the .net GDI + for making a 2d game. I've found lot's of bad tutorials online about double buffering and refresh but none of them work.
I'm a new to visual basic and I need to create a boat animation in vb in visual studio 2008. The animation needs to be able to move from left to right, then stop in a specific place and then move from bottom to top. However before it moves it should bring up a labels. I have managed to move the boat from right to left using the timer and left and top assets but unable to stop it on a particular place on the form.
I'm trying to create an animation with 5 picture boxes (labeled picturebox0 - picturebox4) but I have a specific order I want them to display. I made 5 picture boxes, added images to them, and stack them on top of each other.
I want the order to show this: picturebox 0, 1, 4, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 1, 3... etc
The code I have using if-else statements which would work if I wanted to repeat the same display pattern but I need to manually right the pattern... I have at timer set to change the pictures every 2.5 seconds.
Code: Private Sub Timer3_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer3.Tick System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)
I need to be able to make my animatedBarPictureBox display BEFORE my code executes. With my current code it only displays after all the Call statements execute, even tho I have placed it before the Call statements. Do I need some kind of repaint command to display this picture before it updates my bookmarks?[code]...
Out of curiosity, is there a way i can make a program stop or pause for a period of time (which i would choose) before continuing the code WITHOUT a timer.I think I've seen this done before, but I'm not positive. Also note that I'm talking about a forms application (not a console app if that would be any different.)
My project is like this. When I select from "TypeComboBox" and "BeanComboBox", the "PriceTextBox" will display the appropriate amount of the "Private PriceDecimal". But when I added the "Private SnackPrice", it will display only the 1st array, (0, 0) for both array. I try using "Select Case" but doesn't work. I don't know what the problem is. Or maybe it can't be done like this? One structure can have one array?
Private TransactionCoffeeSale(30) As CoffeeSale Private NumberTransactionsInteger As Integer Private SnackPrice(,) As Decimal = {{1D, 2D}, {3D, 4D}}
Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.
when I'm creating a new property in Visual Basic .NET in Visual Studio 2010, the rest of the Property (template?) doesn't complete the basic framework of the property in the code editor. It is now treating a statement like:
Public Property Length() As Integer
Instead of completing the property as it used to (code follows), it simply goes to the next line:
Public Property Length() As Integer Get[code].....
What happens now is that, if I type in the 'End Property' code, the name of the property will now be highlighted as an error since it doesn't have a 'Get' or 'Set' portion. However, when I THEN type the 'Get' on the line following the 'Public Property Length() As Integer', then the balance of the property is created in the code automatically.I don't know how this got changed, but would love to change it back.Does anyone know if there's a setting in VS2010 that addresses this, or if it's something with the basic templates that visual studio uses for creating the basic code components? The weird thing is that for everything else, from class declarations, structures, functions and subs, the IDE still creates the balance of the code structure correctly. The only area where it doesn't is for Property declarations.
I'm trying to work out how i can make my multithreaded app stop at a certain point and wait for the user to type something into a text box and click ok. It must then carry on and when a different thread gets to that point it stops again and waits for the user to input some text again.
i am getting an input from the user and i m checking in try catch statement. what i want to do is when the exception is caught i want to stop executing the rest of the code. my code is as below
Public Class AddForm Private Sub Add_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Add.Click Dim inc As Integer[code]......
I have this code within a button: If TextBox1.TextLength = 3 Then MsgBox("Please enter 3 numbers followed by a letter. For Example 001A")TextBox1.Text = "" Me.Refresh() End If Although if the user enters 3 numbers only, I want the rest of the code in the button to be ignored so that it doesn't proceed.
Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I want it so that when the date and the time is = to the date and time set for the reminder the action will follow. Here is my code so far:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Dim notext As String = "" If TextBox1.Text = notext Then[code]....
Changed thread type to QUESTION. I was then able to mark AS ANSWER the relevent post which now also immediately follows this post and so it is easier to find as suggested by forum user j2associates .
<edit> It is also my 3rd post in this thread, the 8th one up, of my posts, from the bottom ( for now ), as the forum format has changed yet again.I will leave the rest of this post( as is ) purely for historical reasons. I have been on these forums long enough to see 3 forum changes. <edit> 19th May, 2010> Link added to a video on the next line of text.
I am using VB.NET and below code on button click event. Protected Sub ibtnSendInvites_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.ImageClickEventArgs) Handles ibtnSendInvites.Click Try Dim emailList As New List(Of String) [Code] ..... I want to throw exception if user tries to insert same record having same CourseID and CPUserID.
I work for a company that produces accident reconstruction software. We have a vehicle dynamics program that realistically simulates the motion of a vehicle (position and rotation of car and steer angle of individual wheels, etc).
All the positions of the car are stored into an array called AMTN. The vehicle dynamics program can calculate positions at time steps finer than .005 secs (200 FPS).
I need to represent this data in real time, and so far I have not been able to accomplish this. I have tried doing this in Excel/VBA, VB6, and am currently trying to do it in VB.NET.
I have used a whole plethora of timers and counters as well as different methods of drawing lines on graphics linked to images linked to picture boxes, etc. My animation program writes/clears the screen correctly, but there is clearly some sort of lag in either the timer or writing method. I have scaled it down to 25 FPS and there is still a lag.
Here is an example of what I am trying to do with each tick of the timer:
Code: Sub Timer1_Tick1(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick MyGraphic.Clear(Color.White)
[Code].....
With each tick of the timer, the graphic is cleared, lines representing each side of the car are drawn onto the graphic, and the picturebox is then assigned to the image, which is linked to the graphic. This is just like how your asteroids program works.
Do I need to change my method? Should I use sprites? Or would it be better for me to create images/bitmaps of the animation beforehand and simply flip through them with a timer?
I'm thinking that creating the images beforehand might work because I do not have to calculate the vehicle's position as it is predetermined by my AMTN matrix.
if there is a more efficient way of displaying my vehicle on the screen that would allow for greater FPS, etc.
Ive come to do a question about windows media player look Im trying to make a program which if you make a certain input which he is going to request to you then I want to play that video but I have no idea how to use windows media player controls to manipulate that video. [URL]..
I have a really interesting task I need to code and I'm stuck. The application I'm creating Takes the mute button on my laptop and triggers an even when the mute button is pressed.
The issue is I found when the mute button is pressed, the computer sends the v_key code for volume down in a rapid rate. What I want to do is display the v_key code and a time stamp in a text box:
When I press the mute key, the v_key code and time stamp are displayed for every instance that code is thrown. The same goes for un-mute.I'm having issues with my application not triggering the event when the mute is pressed because the computer is shooting out the v_key code so many times, so fast.
My plan is to create a kind of de-bounce logic- IF the v_key code is detected x amount of times in y timespan then.To do this I need to know how fast and how many times this code is occuring.
Any direction or ideas on how to go about this?

i tried something like this, it insert into the database even thought nric is wrong. So i want it to stop inserting the data into the database when the nric validation is wrong, however from what i do, the result is it still insert the name in....so where should change to allow it stop inserting until user change the value then can continue insert???
Protected Sub btnSubmit_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles btnSubmit.Click register() End Sub
