Display Elapsed Time - Generating Numbers Between 1 And X Randomly

How long it would take to generate all of the numbers between 1 and X randomly.
X=1,000,000 took 6 seconds, and for 10,000,000 took over a minute.
Does that sound reasonable?

I made the Do Loop UI un-friendly and ran this from the IDE using CTRL-F5. My PC is 1.8Ghz and has 2GB of memory. I am using VB 2008, .Net 3.5 SP1.

I'm working with a random number that generates a price for a house between 1 and 100 dollars (obviously very realistic).
Dim Housecost As Integer = (Int((100 * Rnd()) + 1))
My problem is that I put that number in the public class which does generate the number but only once. But I need the number to be re-generated every time a button is clicked. Now I would put this code snippet in the buttons Sub but there are 3 other subs in the code that call for that randomly generated number and the only way that I know of that allows all the subs to read this random number is to put it in the public class. So how do I put the number in a place where all Subs can read it and can be called to re-generate when needed?

So how would I use .next (random numbers) to randomly select something from a list of numbers but it can't repeat the number?I could do:
dim num as integer
dim r as new random
num = r.next(1,5)
if num = 1 then
elseif num = 2 then
etc.
That wouldn't work because it would repeat.If I donwload someone's game can I disect it in VS? :0 I tried going to open project, then I went to the folder and clicked open. It brought me inside of the folder so I tried to open the game but there is no form1 there. It says the games name then .exe in the explorer-like thing in the top right?Also, how would I have a value or something in a label and access it from a button.
Example:This is in a label.

Then in the button do

How would I do something like that? I want to use that a lot as I did in a different language.

I have just about completed a .NET project to write a program to randomly select numbers for a Bingo caller. Over the last month or so Ive learned a lot about .NET but heres something that I consider to be odd and maybe one of you guys can offer an opinion.
One of the features of calling Bingo in a small local club is that callers often use little sayings to accompany certain numbers, I expect youve all heard of (say) All the sixes, clickety click for 66 or 5 and 9 the Brighton line for 59 etc. My little program gives an option to incorporate these with a prompt for the caller that can be edited outside of the program. One of these conventional sayings is used when a number is reversed 12 followed by 21 or 45 followed by 54 for example, when the caller might call (say) 1 and 2, one dozen, number 12 And the other way round 2 and 1, twenty one.
So, I programmed in a bit of code to detect this and to over-ride whatever might otherwise have been the quote with And the other way round and set about testing it. Ive been through literally dozens of full 90 calls watching for the occurrence of a reversed number, spent a few hours doing it, and not once has it occurred which is to say the least, unusual.
So, Im wondering about the Rand Function, could it be that it isnt possible for a reversed number to be selected? Just so you know, I randomly pre-select the order of all 90 numbers, I fill each of the 90 elements of an array with a random number first checking that the number selected hasnt already been stored, if it has, I just get the next random number (and check that too of course), but I cant see how that could prevent reversed numbers being selected, especially in light of the fact that frequently it's not the 'next' number that's used.

I am trying to calculate a total cost from an elapsed time. Dependant on how long the time is, this will calculate the total cost. It has to be 3 to every hour. The elapsed time is displayed in label6 in "hh:MM:ss" format and the total cost needs to be displayed in label8.

I have one text box that contains a value for the "Start Time" and another text box that contains a value for the "End Time."Both of the values are expressed in a format for military time (i.e. 1200, 1300, 1430, etc.).When the "End Time" text box loses focus, I would like the "Elasped Time" (expressed in minutes) to appear in a third text box.Seems easy enough...right?Well the problem I'm having is since the first two numbers in military time are base 24 and the last two numbers are base 60, a standard calculation subtracting the "End Time" from the "Start Time" does not yield an accurate result.

Im using the express edition of VB.Net to do my project. I have several threads in my program which run fine. However, im stuck at this problem. I have a button in my form, which if I click I will call ThreadA (works fine), If i keep it pressed for more than 2 sec i need to call ThreadB (doesnt work), and if the time is more than 2 min, i need to stop and send a msg to the user. I have tried the timer to calculate the elapsed time, so the tick function would call the thread. BUT this doesnt work... Im not sure what do to.

display a Decimal (or double) to elapsed time [h]:mm:ss (hours:minutes:seconds)using vb.net?
example:
if you were to type "1.34666666666667" into a cell in Excel then choose Custom Format [h]:mm:ss The result is an elapsed time of "32:19:12". Using the OADate function only runs on a 24 hour clock so this does not work for longer durations unfortunately...

I have a very simple StopWatch application in Silverlight. I have the following private properties in my MainPage class: _StopPressed (bool), _TimeStart, _Elapsed (string). I also have a "Start" and "Stop" button. The "Start" button calls a method called UpdateTime that constantly updates _ElapsedTime until _StopPressed is true. When I originally wrote it, UpdateTime would block the UI so I couldn't press the Stop button, so I updated my code to use System.Threading.ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem with my UpdateTime method so that it updates _Elapsed on a background thread. That works great at updating the value.However, if I try to set the .Text value of my TextBlock from within UpdateTime(), I get an UnauthorizedAccessException that has to do with one thread accessing the data in another thread.What do I need to do to avoid getting this exception and appropriately update the UI without blocking it?

I'm creating a multi-threaded application (although it is not at the moment) which will be connecting to a large number of sockets. I've noticed when a connection cannot be made the connect timeout is rather large, so I am trying to make my own. Here is what I have come up with...

Looking at the timeoutOccured() sub, you can see I'm unsure of how to specify which index to set. Efficiency is important since this will be housing a lot of connections at once. Something else that just came to mind, would .theTimer.Stop reset the tick value on the timer?

This is so that the animation has time to play and stop and then the rest of the code will display the other picture and the numbers. Is this possible? I tried timer and sleep but I cant get them to work.

I am making an application that randomly generates numbers. I then have to find out if those numbers are even or odd. Then place them in the corresponding array ( EvenNumbers() or OddNumbers() ). Then display the random numbers array then the even and odd numbers array. Below is a form which produces a graph, the idea is to produce 6 random numbers from a range (0,6) place the numbers in an array then use these numbers to produce columns on the graph, however at the moment it is using the numbers more than once, how can I get it to just use the values once only in the array.

I am working on an application, where I have already normalized the databases. Now I am creating an application in asp.net with vb.net as my code behind fine. These random numbers would be stored in the Id column. So, no way there would be repeating the keys. But my application could generate the key, which would probably get repeated. How would I check the database for, so that random numbers wont get repeated? is there any function? Could you give me the code for the same.
