View 5 RepliesI have the following
Public Class Form1
Private GIFAnim As Image = Image.FromFile("c:cointosscointoss_ani.gif")
Private frames As Integer
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
[CODE]...
Now I would like to put a wait in after the line:
frames = GIFAnim.GetFrameCount(Imaging.FrameDimension.Time)
ImageAnimator.Animate(GIFAnim, AddressOf paintFrame)
This is so that the animation has time to play and stop and then the rest of the code will display the other picture and the numbers. Is this possible? I tried timer and sleep but I cant get them to work.
I want to excute the uninstall command with VB.NET, but want to wait until the uninstall process finished like Control Panel, the Shell command seem not realize it.[code]...
View 6 RepliesWe are using Reporting Services to generate a purchase order, which is rendered as pdf before displaying on the screen. The report works well, as is, except that now we have to add a Terms & Conditions page to every PO. I've tried placing it in the footer, setting it to display only on the last page--this didn't work. I've also tried adding it to the body, setting the "Page Break Before" property to "true". This works, except that it looks like there is still space reserved for the header (i.e. the header's "show on last page" property is set to false). I can't get the Terms & conditions to fill the page. how I could attach or bind the pdf generated by reporting services with a pdf version of the Terms & Conditions sheet?
Note: We are using ASP & VB.NET 2.0, Visual Studio 2005, & SQL Server 2005.
I have some difficulties concerning threading [code]
Code:
1- Dim str As String
2- Dim x As New myClass
3- str = x.doSomething()
4- x.closeSomething()
I've included line numbers so I can just refer the lines by their numbers. My problem is, when the program executes, line 4 seems to be executed earlier than I want it to. It gets executed while ThreadX is still running in line 3. How can I force the program to wait until ThreadX has finished executing, before it executes line 4?
I am using a server report, which I am rendering in VB.net using reportviewer.serverreport.render into a PDF document.Strangely, when i do this the text in my graphs is really small compared to in the designer or when I view the report in a web browser.

I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.

I have this code within a button: If TextBox1.TextLength = 3 Then MsgBox("Please enter 3 numbers followed by a letter. For Example 001A")TextBox1.Text = "" Me.Refresh() End If Although if the user enters 3 numbers only, I want the rest of the code in the button to be ignored so that it doesn't proceed.

My problem is that some code I enter will not be executed. Here is an example of my Form Load event. If i debug the code then the first two lines are executed. The MsgBox won't be executed though. or anything else after it. My programm does run perfectly. But i cant make any changes anymore It's driving me nuts, I don't have the faintest Idea what could be wrong. I sent the code to a friend and he isn't having any problems at all. We both use win7 64bit (he has ultimate, i have home) [code]

i'm working on a internet cache cleaner.. i load the cache files in a listbox and send them to the recycle bin. in this process, the app stalls until completion and the stall depends on how many files are in the cache.how can i do this and keep my app active, not stall?
View 14 RepliesI have a hashtable of a class that contains a timer. When this timer elapses x amount of time, it calls a subroutine within the class. This subroutine calls several other functions and subroutines and then its done until the timer elapses again. Now one of the subroutines updates a label on the form and i can see that happening when its supposed to. There is another subroutine that should be updating another label but it is not. I believe this would be a simple correction but when i set a debug point on the routine it does not work. I'm not going to post the code for this as it is hundreds of lines of code and its probably just a configuration in the IDE that got changed somehow.
I run break points around the rest of the project just fine, even in other classes that use timers. Does anyone else have this problem of code being executed but not being able to debug it?
I have a project with 2 forms. I need the code to be executed on one form first, which is why it is run first, then I want to hide it and just display the user interface form. I have the following code, it makes both forms appear, but I only want the user display form to show: [code] I call both these subs in the frmLoad of the Processing form.
View 3 RepliesI have an ASP.NET Form (aspx). It uses VB as the codebehind. I want ALL of the VB to run and then the page to render BEFORE redirecting to the specified form. The problem is, is that I have Response.Redirect calls in the middle of the VB code (aspx.vb) and it seems to redirect before rendering the page. Is there any way around this? I need to have the page render so that some JavaScript on the client side (aspx) can run (it is for Google Analytics).
View 2 RepliesI have a form that on load keeps closing without any errors... I have no clue what it wrong with it. How can I record all the lines of code being executed so that I can find out why it is closing. There are no errors or me.closes.
View 3 Repliesdoes anyone know how to solve this kind of issue?if i add code to an existing code in my control/function/subroutine it will not executed and also if i delete some existing code in my program the code is still executed even though i delete it..

Is it possible to stop a Sub from executing its code when you, for example, click a button?
Example:
Private Sub ExecutedCode()
'doing things here
End Sub
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'how to stop ExecutedCode() from being executed?End Sub
The documentation for an API I am using explicitly says that I need to call close() on an object when I am done with it. I would also like to log something there.I understand GC, might not happen at expected time, etc. etc. I still want to implement some code at cleanup.I read that I need to Override Finalize() to do this.I wrote a console app to test and it looks like it indeed works.However, this does not work with windows forms. I put a break point and it never gets hit in the Finalize method.How do you add some code to be executed at cleanup time for a window form?Here is my console app test:
Public Class Foo
Public Sub New()
Console.WriteLine("In Foo Constructor")[code]......
Private Sub frmbranch_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Try str = "select * from EnquiryEntry Where EnquiryId=" & EnquiryId & ""

I have a backup script i made in VB. part of the code im having trouble with:
HTML
code:
Now this code is executed when a button is clicked, if the folder does exists, it displays a message and continues the backup. however if it does not it displays displays "does not exist box" then i want the application to close.
I played around with the application.exit commands but it seems like the code just skips over it, and continues to try and backup the data, then errors out. how do i make the application close, if the dir does not exist?
I wished to have to add a code which would Wait for example to press right click while i am opening A game (MOHAA.exe)so it send to mohaa a singal of another key for example (p) and when I leave it it send the same key in brief While I am holding The right click i will do the same as i pressed (P) tell I leave the Right click It cancel the function of (P) There is 2 questions:1- How I can do the Hold Function Without Hot key Registration

View 3 RepliesI used to write this:
Private Sub Example()
Static CachedPeople As List(Of MyApp.Person)
If CachedPeople Is Nothing Then
[code]....
But then wondered if I could reduce this to:
Private Sub Example()
Static CachedPeople As New List(Of MyApp.Person)
...rest of code...
End Sub
will the "New" bit only be executed once when the function is first executed but in the next call, it will already exist.
Once again I'm migrating to vb.net finally from vb6 and trying to get some of my old code to work. I was using the following code to let something finish running and then after the time set go to the next.

Sleep just stops the code period but this actually runs the piece before it and then continues. I put it all into vb.net and it threw out an error with DoEvents.
While navigating to a series of sites at one site the WebBrowser control's DocumentCompleted EVENT is tripped and no other recorded Browser events occur after that. When this happens the hour glass cursor indicates the browser is waiting. From this point it take 120 to 250 seconds of wall clock time before the browser resumes. I am looking for a way to force an abnormal termination without destroying the control. I have tried "Stop", "nav to about:blank" repeatedly without success. How can I force an abnormal termination when the Cntrl is in a wait state?
Consider the following: The last known Browser event to be tripped is a Document Complete event; nothing else occurs after this. When this transpires the Cntrl is waiting.
1:50:657: ============================= ENTER WebBrowser1_DocumentCompleted EVENT ========================================
