Force Close Application - Code Is Executed When A Button Is Clicked

I have a backup script i made in VB. part of the code im having trouble with:

Now this code is executed when a button is clicked, if the folder does exists, it displays a message and continues the backup. however if it does not it displays displays "does not exist box" then i want the application to close.
I played around with the application.exit commands but it seems like the code just skips over it, and continues to try and backup the data, then errors out. how do i make the application close, if the dir does not exist?
Any sample code that will cause the logic coded in the clicked event of a Button to be executed, in Powerbuilder I would code it as Button,triggerevent(Clicked!)
I'm using the jQuery UI accordion with two divs. The first displays a form and the second shows data based on the input of the form. How do I auto close the first div and display the second when a user clicks the submit button in the form? I'm assuming I need to use 'onclick' in the button, but I'm not sure how to tie it in with the accordion.
I'm making an equation program and I want to have a main menu where the user can select an equation and then when one of the buttons is clicked, it closes the "selection" form and opens the appropriate form. Is there any way to skip a the validating event of the active control when the close button of the form is clicked. It is very annoying when user wants to close the form, but due to the validate event of the active control, it asks for the valid input. The user is forced to give valid input to close the form. I have searched a lot for this on net but no any proper solution could be found.
I know how to add an exit button with a prompt. However, I do not have the slightest cluse as to how I can add this same functionality to the window so that if the user clicks the X in the upper right corner, there is a prompt message confirming the user needs to exit.I added a form closing event but getting wrong results, the form closes if I click no and message window does not leave when I click yes to stay.

programmer and anything related with IT. i'm trying to create a program for my internet cafe wherein i would need 2 forms, 1 which will contain the transactions and 1 to log in/out customers. I was able to make this using excel but am currenty having a hard time now creating the program with VB2010, because syntax/formulas seemed different from that of excel2010... i have so many questions that i would like to ask, but i'l start with loading a form(for logging in/out) by clicking the Log-in button.

I have a very simple ASP.NET project. It consists of two pages.The first page (FirstPage.htm) has the following markup:

So page one has a hyperlink that loads page two in a popup. Page 2 has a button that should do nothing. However, when I click on the button a new window pops up and loads Page 2 again.
If I navigate directly to page 2, nothing happens.I'm thinking I must have some odd configuration either in VS or in IIS that's causing it; but I have no idea what.
I'm using visual basics 2008, and I want to code a button, so that when clicked it will toggle the sound on/off on a web browser, while the volume of the system stays unaffected. I browsed the web and I found this code:

How can I write a code in the close button in the form.
Example, if the user click the close button (the red box with X) then a message box will appear if he clicks yes then it will end, if cancel the form will not close.
I'm currently in the process of building a text editor type program, and have run into a brick wall. I haven't done VB in years, so I may just need a little reminder on some things. I have coded everything so far as far as opening files, saving them, changing fonts, colors, etc. However, I'm looking to add a Close button to my menu strip that will just close the currently opened file, and not the entire program, while also ask the user if he/she would like to save before closing the file, and then if they select yes, it will show the save dialog, and if not, it will go ahead and close the currently opened item.

I'd like to show a NotifyIcon BalloonTip to the user and close it after two seconds.No matter what value I enter there it never closes, unless I keep moving the mouse and then it always closes after exactly 10 seconds. this maybe an easy one for mos of you! I have a windows that is displayed as full screenThe window contains a series of images (movie posters) and the name below it. When you user clicks on a movie poster a new window appears (smaller window) in the middle of the screen.I want to force the user to close close on the small window before procedding. Currently if the user clicks outside the small window the full screen window comes to the front thus hiding the smaller window.
I have a form that has around 4 txtboxes. Data is inserted into these boxes and then a "Save" Button is pressed. I have a GridView added to my form and want to view the entries. The issue I am having is that when I click the save button the data doesn't show up in the DataGridView until I close the application and then re open it.
I gotta finish this application. When the "Enter Numbers" button is clicked, the application displays an input box for the user to insert an integer. After the number has been typed and the OK button is clicked, the application is supposed to give out the sum of all integers from 1 to the value entered by the user. The result I get for 5 is 25, and for 10 is 100!Also, could you tell me how to display the result in a message box?
and even when i click yes, it closes the workbook. I would like it so that when i click yes, it shows the messagebox, but when i click no, it closes the workbook.
My problem is that some code I enter will not be executed. Here is an example of my Form Load event. If i debug the code then the first two lines are executed. The MsgBox won't be executed though. or anything else after it. My programm does run perfectly. But i cant make any changes anymore It's driving me nuts, I don't have the faintest Idea what could be wrong. I sent the code to a friend and he isn't having any problems at all.
