I know the table exists because I can write to it via the command line through sqlite and through Autoit and can see it and edit it in the SQLite browser when I open the database. I don't understand why VB can't see it (I know it sees and opens the database file just fine).

I want to have a condition to find out if the value I enter in the textbox exists in the combobox. The combobox reads a text file.
What I to do is be able to find out if a text file or any file exists on a server such ass we all know that exists but how can I get VB to produce a message box telling me whether this file exists let alone get VB to search for the file, I've search the site and the MSDN but I cant figure out what code i need to do its been bugging me for weeks

After each name I add a newline so all the names are on their own line inside the textbox.I use this code to add names to the textbox, Text Box1. I have a process serves as an application updater.It checks it's local cache of files and compares this against list of files online.On it's first run there are no files in the local cache and it therefore downloads ~100 of these files.[code]This appears to work very well, since Explorer confirms that all files are extracted and available.However when I later run this process again, it cannot verify the existence of 6 of these files and therefore tries to download them despite the fact that they are clearly both present and up to date.The offending code is a simple File.Exists call which appears to deny the local existence of these files, and therefore tries to get them again.The system continues to work well, but over time the continual downloading of these 6 files is going to get kind of silly.

Have a method who gets data from one table, put the data into variables before it it returned into the same table with changed ID etc. My problem is that it adds the first row without any problems, but when it is supposed to add row number 2 the error says tha the row allready exists in the table. and I can not understand why. I have put in a couple of messageboxes to se that the ID is changing and that the ordreID is correct and changing as they should and they do, but stll I get that errormessage.

I'm trying to create an option to select a specific entry in a SQL table if multiples exists. The Sub listed below is for a textbox (MOTxt) and a button (GotMO) for checking an MO# to pull from SQL. Based on the number entered, will populate other text boxes on the page with that row's data. There are exceptions to this, where the MONumber will be entered more than once with different data associated with each entry. So, here's my situation. If we have a duplicate MONumber listed in the table, it will populate the textboxes with the first entry it finds for an update.I would like to create a dynamic dropdownlist (that displays only if multiples are found) displaying the 'Name' field entries for each MONumber found, then once the correct name is selected from that list, to then populate the textboxes with that selected datarow.Here's my code behind:

I'm trying to check if a LINQ Entity exists in its table, but at design time I dont know what type that entity is. So I figure I'll just get the table, and try the Contains method on it. But I cant get the table in such a way that I can query it at design time.I've tried the GetTable method on the datacontext, but I dont know how to cast it to the appropriate type when using GetTable(Of). GetTable(Type) works, I just use Entity.GetType(), but then I don't know how to query the ITable thats returned.To try and cast the ITable to something useable, I created an interface(IWhatever) that could implement properties that are native to all of my entities I would encounter. View 2 RepliesI'm trying to query old Access database tables and compare them with SQL Server tables.They often don't have primary keys, or they have extra fields that had some purpose in the nineties, etc., or the new tables have new fields, etc.I need to find records - based on a set of fields specified at runtime - that are in one table but not another.So, I do this kind of query all the time in SQL, when I'm comparing data in different tables:

It tells me it can't convert a Boolean - Is there any way to do this without Linq expressions? They seem far more complex than what I'm trying to do here, and they take a lot of code, and also I can't seem to find examples of Expressions where we're comparing two fields in a subquery.Is there a simpler way? I know I could do the usual EXISTS query using JOIN or IN - in this case I don't need the query to be super fast or anything. And I don't need to use a DataTable or DataSet - I can put the data in some other kind of object.

When you add them in at design time and bind them to a control, it shows them on the design window, and it creates them in the design.vb file, and they're available as a property of your form object... but I can't find a way to browse through them and pick one in code, like you can with the control collection (I.E. me.controls.Item("controlname")).[code]...

then i check table2 to see if that entry exists using:

other wise i copy the row into a third table which ends up being my final collection of rows that are in table1 and not in table2. this takes a really long time. is there a better, faster way that isn't too complicated?

View 4 RepliesI have a word document with multiple tables. How can I specify in VB.NET to find a specific table and insert rows only into that one? I've successfully implemented the Find&Replace in the document... but the problem is that I have an unknown number of things that must be added into the table based on the data I'm querying from my database. So there is no simple solution as far as putting placeholders in the table and using the find and replace function.
