Can Datagridview Rows Fit Control Without Resizing

May 12, 2009

I have drawn out a datagridview onto my form at a certain size.But, say I have 3 rows of data and they dont fill the grid to its bottom. So I'm left with a bunch of empty grey color stuff in the rest of the control below.Is there any simple property/method that will fit the control size to just the rows loaded, or am I being too picky?

Can anyone tell me why "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound." I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.

Setting Names To Rows In DataGridView Control?

Oct 12, 2011

VB.Net's DataGridView supports naming columns, but I was wondering if it could somehow do the same for rows, so that we could use something like this:

With DataGridView1
.Rows.Add(4)
.Rows(0).Name = "Setting1"

[Code].....

Do you confirm that it's not possible and we must use numeric indexes to refer to row numbers?

How would i delete only the successful inserted rows for insert and then move the non successful rows up and allow the user to correct the data and get it ready for an insert. If i dont delete the successful rows then i will have multiple inserts of the same dataRow and we dont want that! AND if i dont move the data up then it will have blank rows uptop and will end the try and not insert the corrected data. VS 2010 DataGridView Font Not Resizing?

Apr 27, 2012

I've set every setting I could find on the DataGridView to a specific font size however when the form it resides on loads I step through the code and put my cursor over the DataGridView1.Font.Size and it always shows 8.25 (I've set everything to 18).

What I'm trying to do is resize the DGV on load of the form to a percentage based on the size of the form relative to the size of the screen. Everything else on all of my other forms are resizing correctly but the DGV is not.

Here is the designer generated code for property reference:

vb.net

DataGridView Drag And Drop With Column Resizing?

I have implemented couple of websites) drag and drop functionality between two Datagridviews (i.e to be able to add/remove columns on the fly). After much playing, I have managed to make this work, however it now presents a new issue - I cannot resize the columns.Below is the code for this, but I can't see how I would need to change to accomodate the resize (the drag and drop effects dont have it as an option, so I assume I need to stop the dodragdrop when the resize is taking place, but I'm not sure how to do this.

Webbrowser Control Resize Isn't Resizing My Web Page Controls

Nov 12, 2009

First off I'm using the Extended Webbrowser control from: [URL]

I use the Webbrowser control to access an ESRI web based mapping solution. When the ESRI map is loaded into an IE browser and the browser is resized then the map control resizing accordingly. When my Webbrowser control is resized the map webpage is not resizing properly.

I don't even know where to start with this problem. Is there some event that's not firing in the website? I can't simply refresh the whole website because the user may have panned and zoomed around. I want to just tell the website that the container control (Webbrowser control) is resizing now.

Save Datagridview Rows As New Rows?

Apr 26, 2012

It was even difficult coming up with a Question title for this.

Am not sure whether am using the right approach to my problem. See i have this datagridview that contains rows that i would like have saved back into the Database as new rows but with a column altered to a new value.

Eg

PKColumn1 FKColumn2
Column3 Column4
1 1

[Code].....

What am looking at is Change FKColumn2 (some foreign key, maybe i can also have a combo box somewhere on the form and an "import to") values to something like 2 and save the rows back to the database without loosing the original rows.

DataGridView - Nonvisible Rows Are Still Visible And The DataGridView Is Empty Despite Having A DataSource

Jul 30, 2009

I have several problems with rows in a DataGridView. Background information: The DataGridView (DataGridViewCalib) is in one TabPage of a TabControl, some columns of the DataGridView are automatically DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn as the DataSource have some colums which are Boolean. This is a Windows Form written in VB.Net with Visual Studio 2008. The user loads an input data file.

The problems:

1) At first arrival in the TabPage, ShowDataGridViewCalib (code below) is called. All rows are then shown in the DataGridView, despite the code saying that some rows should not be visible. Breakpoints in the code show that the code do arrive at the Rows.Visible = False events. Despite all rows beeing shown a Watch in the debugger shows that:

There are two alternative ways of handling the rows in the code. The first attempt (commented away here) is probably the "nicest".

Avoid Control "wobble" When Resizing Controls According To Mouse Position?

Jul 28, 2009

I've got a set of controls in a line inside"FollowTableLayoutPanel1", contained within "TableLayoutPanel2".I have them resizing according to the position of the mouse cursor; the closer the mouse cursor is to the vertical centre of the control, the larger the control is. Because FollowTableLayoutPanel1 has its anchor property set to "Top", it recentres itself in TableLayoutPanel2.It is possible for the recentring of FollowTableLayoutPanel1 to move a control one pixel further away from the mouse pointer, which causes the control to shrink, which causes FollowTableLayoutPanel1 to recentre, placing the control closer to the mouse pointer, which causes the control to grow,which causes FollowTableLayoutPanel1 to recentre, which moves the control further away from the mouse cursor, etc., etc., etc.The end result is that the whole setup judders and wobbles, constantly resizing.Full example code is provided below,and can be pasted directly into Form1 of a new project. Positioning the mouse cursor to correctly show the problem is left as an exercise for the reader :

Public Class Form1
Private Sub myInitializeComponent()
Me.components = New System.ComponentModel.Container
Me.TableLayoutPanel2 = New System.Windows.Forms.TableLayoutPanel[code].....

Cannot Remove Rows In Datagridview

My datagridview is bound to a data table. I want to filter the datagridview without affecting data table. I know one way is to use bindingsource, but binding source will use column names in its filter. But I want to enable users to enter any string in a textbox to filter. So I pass datagridview by reference to a function PassFilter which removes unwanted rows in datagridview. I can see that it does execute rows removal in datagridview. But the problem is that when datagridview is shown on the form, it is unchanged, the same as the data table. I do not understand why rows are not removed on datagridview The code is as follows:
