The last line throws an exception "Cannot open file" with certain end-user profiles. It works perfectly fine when executing from an Admin account. I just cannot figure out what user privileges and access settings may cause the error. Note that it also works with some end-user accounts (not admins). What missing user rights can cause this?

I have installed Visual basic 2010 Express and SQL Sever 2008 r2 Express and when I try to make a connection using the Data Source Configuration wizard, it shows "You don't have permission to open this file. View 2 RepliesI use a custom tool to translate a flat text to xml text. I then create the file, with over-write set to True. When I try to write the text to the file, I get the error. The error says "Error: Invalid procedure call or argument", "System: Access is denied." It seems like the Create command is holding the file locked, so the Write command fails.
Running in VbsEdit IDE, I can see it fail. If I copy the text which is trying to be written, and paste it into UltraEdit, then attempt to save the file there, I get the same error This is expected, because the VBScript execution is holding the file locked. It should NOT be holding it locked for the script itself, right?[code]...

I've written a VB.NET program for a client that stores all of its data in XML files. I use the XMLReader to read the data into a dataset. When I run the sub to encrypt the XML file, I'll get the following message: Error: mscorlib: The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open.
It doesn't happen all the time, so I know it does work. But on occassion, I'll get this message. I've been all over the forums and I've tried everything I've read to try and stop this error.
I close the reader object and set it equal to Nothing. I've even tried using DoEvents to make sure the object finished closing before running the Encrypt sub. Nothing has helped.
I develop on a x32 PC. It works fine on the development machine. But then, when the client runs it on a x64 PC, he gets these errors. Could the x64 system really be running so fast that the .Close() and the = Nothing and evern the .DoEvents() can't keep up?

is showing missing records at the end of the file , so i save my file as an .xlsx extension it saves correctly but when i open the file it generates an error

The officer in charge to certain features and the user as well. for example, I have several group boxes and the user can access one of it only. So how i do manage these permissions? One of the issues I've ran into is that we sometimes get a workbook where the multiple address fields are held in a single cell with line breaks. I've written code to extract all of this data out of the excel sheet in to a dataset with each sheet as a table and the address fields contained within. I now want to create a new Excel workbook from this data with the address fields in Row and columns the problem I have is I can Open/create the Workbook but when I try to insert a new Sheet (Table) I get an error saying the Workbook is read only....

I have an application the contains several excel files bundled with it. I'm not opening the files and processing them within my application. These files contain a data-connection to reload all of the pivot-tables within each excel file. I have a 'link' on my form, that when clicked, it determines which file to open and calls a sub using filename and executing Process.Start(filename) for any excel file I want to open. I have no problems opening any one of the files and then exiting excel.
The problem is when I 'close' a file, but don't exit Excel; then try to open another file(clicking link on form)... it creates a new instance of Excel.
I know from experimenting that the fileopendialog form will 'reuse' an existing Excel instance, IF it does not already have a file open.
How can I do the same thing without using the fileopendialog?
I don't want the end-user to have access to the folders where these files live. That's why I have multiple 'links' on my form, one for each xls that already exists. I just want them to be able to click on a link and the xls file opens AND if they choose to merely 'close' a file and not exit... Don't create a new instance of Excel, but re-use the existing one.

In my web application we have many users. I want to set permission for each user. In our windows application we used Database to store the Permission(Insert,Modify,delete and View). In web application can anybody tell me about where to store the permission. Somebody told that if we use database it will take so much time? In the case of XML it is easy and not taking much time. When this code runs it will send the desired email but only after the user hits an "allow" button. I want to run this automatically, there will be no user to ok it. Is there a way to turn off the permission box?

Im struggling on how to open an excel workbook without one of two problems.
1. After the first workbook is opened and I close the workbook, if another is opened the worksheet area is "transparent", as in, you can see the desktop or any open app behind excel.
2. Closing excel and opening another workbook after X times (4+?) via the vb.net app I use causes the computer to reboot.
I am stuck thinking it is the method used to open excel within the app.The code below has two methods, both produce the same affect.
