Excel DataSet Error: GetOleDbSchema Table Require An Open And Available Connection

I'm creating a tool that will query Excel and intialize the default settings for the site's Cad Software.I want 2-20 users to be able to simultaneously query excel. Currently I have the spreadsheet open on one computer and the other test machine gives me this error.
GetOleDbSchema Table Require an open and available connection. The connections state is closed.
I could use some help on the code design. Should I use Datareader instead....Does that have less permissions issues? Or do I need to open up the oledbconnection in a different manner?

i have an application. which is executed after every 5 mins. i have an open connection but it gives me the following error:

I am creating an app to grab data from excel and preview in datagrid. From the datagrid I want to be able to save to a sql table. I have the excel data in a gridview via a dataset. What I am having trouble with is the sql statement. I know how to insert data, but I can't work out how seperate the data in the dataset to pass it into individual Values of the insert statement. Or should it be done another way? NOTE: I is not essential that the excel data be previewed in the gridview if this would make life easier for me.

I have three tables, the extremely simplified versions of which are:
Practitioners:
practitioner_id :: int
name :: nvarchar
Insurances:
insurance_id :: int
name :: nvarchar
InsuranceLink:
practitioner_id :: int
insurance_id :: int
So, the practitioner table contains a list of practitioners, the insurance table contains a list of insurances, and the link table represents which practitioner supports which insurance. Now, I need to create a view which can display the information like this:
ViewTable:
practitioner_id :: int
practitioner_name :: nvarchar
insurance_1 :: bit
insurance_2 :: bit
.....
insurance_100 :: bit
In other words, the columns in the view are the ID and name of the practitioner, and every insurance that exists in Insurances (with the insurance name as the column name (there is an enforced condition that insurance names are unique)). The cells in the insurance columns will indicate if that practitioner supports that insurance. Or better yet, is it possible to use an excel-style pivot table on a DataSet in a VB.NET form?

I'm writing an application that imports and tidy up address data into a cleaned, deduped excel workbook ordered in rows with each column as an address field. One of the issues I've ran into is that we sometimes get a workbook where the multiple address fields are held in a single cell with line breaks. I've written code to extract all of this data out of the excel sheet in to a dataset with each sheet as a table and the address fields contained within. I now want to create a new Excel workbook from this data with the address fields in Row and columns the problem I have is I can Open/create the Workbook but when I try to insert a new Sheet (Table) I get an error saying the Workbook is read only....

I am attempting to write the entire contents of an ADO.NET DataSet to an Excel 2007 spreadsheet and, while having partial success, I am unable to dump the contents of the DataSet into the .xlsx file. "Partial success" meaning that I can generate the spreadsheet(s) ok, but cannot get the DataAdapter.Update to work.

I am building a program for a small office and I have a little problem with the code so I thought it's better to post a topic before continiue.. I use a dbDataAdapter to populate a DataTable from an unlinked oracle database.I have a dbDataAdapter that I want to insert rows into an SQL Server table using SQLCommandBuilder.I have been trying all day to update the DataTable that references the SQL Server table with the data from the Oracle DataTable so that I can insert the rows.

Currently I'm working on a piece of code that involves using the Crystal Reports Viewer to export .RPT files to PDF. My problem is that the code works on literally everything except the website I'm planning to eventually put it on.
When placed on the website it throws back the error "Failed to open the connection." which I believe is connected to the SQL Server connection that's formed in order to read data for the report itself.
The code itself is solid and works when used in a separate console application I built to test it whether said code is run on my local machine or on the server itself. It even runs when I test the website in Visual Studio's virtual host.
I've narrowed it down to being some sort of permissions issue, but I am not knowledgeable enough in the various permissions settings to figure out which ones specifically apply to this situation. It's worth mentioning that other pages on the website are directly connecting to the same database, but they are doing so directly through Linq instead of going through the Crystal Report Viewer.
So does anybody know which settings I need to modify in order to fix the connection error.An added note: One of the other suggestions is to make sure there's an ODBC DNS in place that matches the one being used by the code. I have created such a DNS already.

I have a single table that holds my Categories
CatID, CatName, ParentID
I have often used this layout to show Root Categories where the ParentID IS NULL. I would like to be able to create a vertical Menu (using a repeater and an <UL><LI> that displays the Root Categories and ideally, a collapse panel that would expand with the subcategories. The last line throws an exception "Cannot open file" with certain end-user profiles. It works perfectly fine when executing from an Admin account. I just cannot figure out what user privileges and access settings may cause the error. Note that it also works with some end-user accounts (not admins). What missing user rights can cause this?

I'm developing a device app in VB.net that will access a SQL Server database. I need to establish a connection when the app is launched, and keep the connection open until the app is closed. I've done the following:In the Master Module:

I'm trying to insert a new records into database, one of those records is a "datetime"...when I type a wrong date, and try to insert those values into database, i get an error (about wrong typed date etc.)...ok, that's fine, things need to work that way. But here comes the problem, I correct the date, and then try to insert values again...here I get an error from the post title.
