Browsercontrol Page Not Updating HTML?
Jun 18, 2010I created a browser control, and i am able to navigate around fine however, when i do a check on id's on the page, it only seems to get the id's of the very first page i went to.
Our comany has a home grown web app that displays sales orders, and i wanted to make an application that grabs that id's and puts them in a list.I have this working, its just i cant seem to grab the new HTML that is in the browser control.

Sep 28, 2009I've encountered an incredibly frustrating problem during my work with a function to extract META-data from images.
When reading data from a file created under Windows in any kind och charset there is no problem at all, but when reading from files created under OS X i can't convert it to utf8.
The problem only occurs on chars like 'å','ä', 'ö' and some other chars that i rarely use.
Is there any way of converting chars on-the-fly serverside?
I guess i need a function to determine the actual charset as well.
I've tried numerous ways of converting with HTMLEncode/Decode and URLEncode/Decode without ANY result at all.

Oct 14, 2010I've been trying to trace down a bug for hours now and it has come down to this:
Dim length as Integer = 300
Dim buffer() As Byte = binaryReader.ReadBytes(length)
Dim text As String = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer, 0, buffer.Length)
The problem is the buffer contains 300 bytes but the length of the string 'text' is now 285. When I convert it back to bytes, the length is 521 bytes...The same code is a normal WinForms app works perfectly. The data being read by the binary reader is a UTF8 encoded string. Any ideas why Silverlight is playing funny buggers?

Feb 24, 2011I had an interesting bug today when sending plain text emails from our system. We format messages like this: -1st something happened blab bla. -2nd something else happened blab blab blaa bla. Today we had an email that looked like this: -1st something happened blab bla. -2nd something else happened blab blab blaa bla $1000.00 -3rd Something happened. So above, we see that we lost the CrLf but only on the message that didn't have a period and ended in 0. I went through the code and found the CrLf is intack up until we send the email. Utf 8 - Function That Will Tell Us Whether 2 Strings Are Equivalent Under UTF8 Unicode Collation?
May 23, 2012This question is similar to How to emulate MySQLs utf8_general_ci collation in PHP string comparisons but I want the function for vb.net rather than PhP.Recently I make a lot of supposedly unique key.Some of the keys are equivalent under UTF8 unicode collation.For example, look at these 2 key:
byers-street-bistro_38.15-79.07
byers-street-bistro‎_38.15-79.07
If I paste that into front page, and look at the source code you'll see
byers-street-bistro__38.15_-79.07
byers-street-bistro‎__38.15_-79.07
Note: In stack overflow they still look different.I know it's not the same. I guess even in stack exchange it doesn't show. Say I have 1 million such records and I want to test whether 2 string WILL be declared the same by MySQL UTF8 collation. I want to know that before uploading. How do I do that.So vb.net think that those are different keys. When we created mysql query and upload that to database, the database complain it's the same key. Just one complain and the upload of 1 million databases will be stuck.We don't even know what the hell is ‎? Where can we look that up anyway?Anyway, I want a function that when given 2 strings will tell me whether they will count as the same or not.If possible we want a function that convert strings into their most "standard" form.For example, ‎ seems to encode nothing and the function would recoqnize all those nothing character and eliminate that.Is there such thing?So far this is what I do. Cascading Combobox - When Change Cb1 - Change Cb2 And Click Save Button - Cb2 Seems To Be 'lost
Feb 15, 2012I have two combobox in a form: Cb1 and Cb2
When I load the form, Cb1 and Cb2 are connected to a bindingsource.
When I change Cb1, the code (below) changes Cb2 to show only the items according to Cb1
This is working fine.
The problem is when I change Cb1 , change Cb2 and click the save button..... Cb2 seems to be 'lost'...
I'm using VS2008.

Feb 20, 2012I'm getting familiar now with using the Dataset Designer and how it makes for quick and easy updates and query of tables. I use to use the OleDB commands and leave the Connection String as a Global Constant so I can easily change it if the server name changes, or if we have to re-direct the .NET to another instance of the database.
But now that I use the Dataset designer I'm concerned that I maintain flexibility and support in the long run. how the Dataset designer works and where it stores it's connection string info? And how difficult that would be to update. It looks like I modify the App.config file, but I'm unfamiliar with this.
What am I getting myself into? It looks like a standard XML file. Is that it?

Feb 9, 2011Ok, so I know I have to change the labeledit to true but that doesn't change the selected node to be able to edit, so how does that work?
Along with renaming I have it set to that a user can add a node. So once the node has ben added how do I let them rename it as it is being added and without being a prompt or inputbox? So lets say I cam clicked on a parent and they click add node, it adds it to parent but I have it so it is default "New" but I want them to edit it as it is added. I think it will be along the same lines as clicking on one and rename but I have to start some place.

All these combo boxes have databound items which come from the same column in a table in the database (access 07) (Am designing a billing software, and these comboboxes show the items (10 lines of them).All these combos reside in one Groupbox.Now for the strange (scary/funny) part, whenever I change a value of 1 combo, all the other combos change automatically and show the same value as the one that was changed. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. Formatting Excel - If I Try Using Style.numberformat With The Date And Time Formats, They Don't Change And Are Entered As If Didn't Change The Format?
Mar 11, 2011I am throwing some data out into Excel and am having some formatting troubles. I have 5 columns (date, time, a long number I don't want displayed in scientific notation - text is fine, text, text). I can get it all working with numberformat, however I have to do them different ways.
Date works this way cell.numberformat = "m/d/yy" and it formats it to say 3/1/11
Time works this way cell.numberformat = "h:mm AM/PM" and it formats it to say 8:07 AM
For the long number cell.numberformat = "@" and it doesn't change the format and it gets displayed in scientific notation
BUT if I use cell.style.numberformat = "@" it works as it should, but it messes up all of the date and time cells. Apparently when you use style.numberformat, it doesn't just apply to the cell you're working with. If I try using style.numberformat with the date and time formats, they don't change and are entered as if I didn't change the format at all.
