Forms :: Change A Property On Form - Doesn't Show That Change

I'm working on a simple base form in which all the other forms in the project will inherit. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. The problem I'm facing right now is when I change a property on Form1 (the test form) and click run it doesn't show that change. I also checked the .designer.vb file and when I make a change it's not added to the code behind file, I'm at a loss right now to why.

I inherits textbox Control and I added some new properties to it .one of these properties value i want it to change it's value in desgin time when i change Name property of the new textbox

Ok, so I know I have to change the labeledit to true but that doesn't change the selected node to be able to edit, so how does that work?
Along with renaming I have it set to that a user can add a node. So once the node has ben added how do I let them rename it as it is being added and without being a prompt or inputbox? So lets say I cam clicked on a parent and they click add node, it adds it to parent but I have it so it is default "New" but I want them to edit it as it is added. I think it will be along the same lines as clicking on one and rename but I have to start some place.

This relates to vb.net on vs2008 I have a form (in actual fact many forms) in which the fields are bound to the public properties of class I have created. For example let say it is a customer class object oCustomer of type clsCustomer.

I am working on a project that uses lots of custom class objects.Before starting work on real project, I tested the object behaviour on a temporary project. And find that if i add the object to a list and combobox and then make any change to the object property then it reflects in list and combobox.But after using the same process in real project the change does not reflect. Why?Also, how can i update object property placed in the combobox.
for eg.
Class X has property id and name
created objX of type Class X and set id=1 and name='All'

I have a field on my form for Check Number if a bill was paid by check, if not it should be blank. When I run the query in Access it returns the right records.the query loads all current customers, 99 out of a possible 107, when I navigate through the records as soon as I hit one where a Check was used, the Check Number field stays filled in for all records displayed after.

I have 10 Comboboxes in a form. All these combo boxes have databound items which come from the same column in a table in the database (access 07) (Am designing a billing software, and these comboboxes show the items (10 lines of them).All these combos reside in one Groupbox.Now for the strange (scary/funny) part, whenever I change a value of 1 combo, all the other combos change automatically and show the same value as the one that was changed. (strange!).

I have 1 form with about 5 other forms added into it. How can I check which form the user is currently on. I have tried using gotfocus for the 5 forms within, but it doesn't work. is there another way of seeing when focus has changed within the form?

I thought this would be easy but for some reason it's giving me a rough time. I have a windows form with three equal size panels on it. Each panel takes up about 1/3 of the window width, less some inter-panel spacing.
The effect I want is if the user stretches or shrinks the form the panels maintain their relative 1/3 width and spacing, similar to how divs on an html page would size as the browser window is sized.
So I anchored the left panel to left, top and bottom, the center panel to top and bottom, and the right panel to top, bottom and right. This works fine in keeping the left and right panel anchored to their respective sides, and all panels now stretch with a form height change.
So in form resize I adjust the width of each panel to form.width/3. As expected this is close but does not account for the inter-panel margins I want to preserve and the form border width.
I played around with various constants and noting I do gives me the desired effect.I'm sure there is a pretty straight forward solution to this but I can't seem to find it.

I have a form created in VB.net. It is used to get some information form a user. The form is not bound to any data source.
A combobox on this form is used to enter a cost. I want the value entered by the user to be displayed using currency format. I have used the Format String Dialog that opens from the ellipses button on the FormatString property of the combobox and selected Currency. This put C2 into the FormatString property.
When I run my application, this format is not applied to the value entered into the combobox at the time the number is entered or when I leave the combobox.

I have a user control that contains a search value text box a button, and a datagridview to display what the data adapter found. In the data set designer, I have an ODBC connection to a table, with two SQL queries defined FillByCustomerName(NAME), and FillByCustomerNumber(CUSTOMER_NUMBER). If I preview the data in the designer, I see the data expected. The datagridview doesn't show any data. The functions PopulateGridByName and PopulateGridByNumber do the work. I've tried adding a dgCustomer.show statement, The form that calls the user control has no codebehind code, and throws no errors.

I have a test app driven by bluetooth serial events In my form load code I hide the cursor so it doesn't get in the way of pictures (fullscreen) When one event is called by bluetooth, it brings up a msgbox and the user has to click OK. I tried Windows.Forms.Cursor.Show() but it doesn't work.
I'm guessing it's something to do with delegates and events and the form, but the debugger doesn't complain at any point. It just refuses to show the cursor. How can I get my serialport event to show the cursor? And then hide it after?

Why this line doesn't change the value of my datetimepicker using me.gatepassbindingsource.addnew():

Implementing BindingNavigatorAddNewItem executes above line correctly. I don't want this because the bindingnavigator items are active. Coding me.gatepassbindingsource.addnew(), I can make my bindingnavigator items inactive/disabled while adding record.

I've got a page which has 5 images on, 5 FileUpload controls, 5 buttons and in the code behind 5 on click events. The page shows the images and lets users change each individual image if they'd like and it's all working well....except. When the upload is done and the new image has been uploaded to the ftp server, how do I then re-display the same page the user has just used, but this time with the new image image in place of the old? Do I need to call an instance of the page_load event again?

My vb app uses an icon which is 128x128, which looks fine on the desktop. But when viewed in a folder with View set to Extra Large Icons its size doesn't change - it is too small (smaller than 128x128). Any ideas how I can rectify this?

I have a DropDownList in a MultiView2:View2, and if the selected index of the DropDown is 5, then the view should change to View3, but doesn't work, I have AutoPostBack property of the DropDown set to True, the two views both have UpdatePanels within them. I have this within an IF statement obviously, and everything else fires, besides the MultiView2.ActiveViewIndex = 1.

I have an editable datagridview that's been databound with dataadapter and datatable, and a normal button on a form. When i edit the dgv's cells and click the save button it fires the datagridview_cellvalidating event and if the cell validation is correct it updates and saves the current record to the datasource. Also, before save it commits change in any cell under editing. But when I use a toolstripbutton to do the same work, though it saves the dgv records but doesn't update the current change i.e. it saves the old records that are being fetched when the dgv was populated first during form load. Also, clicking the toolstripbutton doesn't fire datagridview_cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating etc events. What it seems to be is it's not committing the change in any cell under editing. Why isn't it happening and how can I make it work? how can I fire datagridview_ cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating and other events; and commit cell value change by clicking toolstripbutton.

I have a form that asks the user for certain search criteria. Based on this it goes and searches Active Directory for computer accounts. Whilst this search is happening I want the cursor to change to the hourglass but I've tried

i am having a problem with a calculator that i am making. i am using radio buttons as selectors for the operations (+-*/). i have two input-boxes. i want to do some error checking. for example if the user want to find the mod of a number, i want them to only use inputbox1 to enter the value. [Code] the problem is that when other radio buttons are clicked the effect doesn't change. how can i fix it so that other radio buttons don't have the same action. i am using visual studios 2008 professional.
