I now need to have a drop down menu with different languages in it.the user selects a Language from the drop down menu the text of all the relevant objects changes from like a Button with pause on it in English changes to a button with 'Pausar' on in Spanish.
I have found some partial topics but none on this website so if any of you have advice. I have looked about on google but nothings come up with what I am after.

View 3 RepliesI cannot get my application to display in English, it always displays in French I have an application that uses 2 languages. The default language is en-GB and the second language is French For setting the text of the buttons and labels. I have set the localized property to true and changing the language to fr-FR on the form. So setting the default languages controls by choosing the default the language property, and then switching to French language to set the French controls. So I have the following files:
Code:formMain.resxformMain.fr-FR.resxformMain.Designer.vbformMain.vb
And for message boxes and other strings I have added these 2 resource files
Code:formMain.Strings.resxformMain.Strings.fr-FR.resx
So if I want to switch to different languages I have changed the cultureInfo as follows:

I also an address book form that is a child of the formMain. Which I have used the same method. However, the address book works as normal, but the formMain never changes to the language I want. Even though tested by explictly setting the language to en-GB in the form constuctor before the inializeComponent() it will always default to French.Not sure why the address book (child) work correctly, the parent form (formMain) will always display in French, no matter if I have set this to en-GB.I am 100% that my method is correct using what I have show you above.I was thinkng about deleting the formMain and creating a new one. But that would mean doing everything again and would take too long.

I have a form that contains two text boxes into which the user types information. When the user clicks on one of the textboxes it becomes blank and it's contents are displayed in the other text box. I need to see if a webpage displayed via the vb browser contains certain words .I've tried parasing through the html but that contains too much junk html and css tags which caused problems.That was done by using property webBrowser.document.Body.InnerText.contains . When a user clicks the + button on the binding navigator, I want to set the displayed item of acombobox to the value displayed in a label. The combobox is bound to a field in the table. This works however if the user types 17, the textbox will read 0. not what i want.
I have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.

View 6 RepliesI have a textbox on a form that is set to allow dragdrop operations from txt files.Basically you drag a .txt file onto the txtbox, the content of the text file is displayed in the textbox.All is working fine, however after the textfile is displayed in the textbox, the text box text is for some reason is highlighted.I don't want the text to be highlighted (or selected) after it's being displayed on the textbox.Second issue, after I close the file that I dragged, for some reason even if I didn't make any changes to the file, it is acting as if the file has changed.In another words, if I open a text file using my MenuItem Open item, and if I do not change the file, If I close the file it's fine it closes.However, if I close a file that I draged into the text box and then close the file without changing anything in it, the stringcompare function is telling me that the file has changed... I can't understand why.

I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click.What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.

View 13 Replieseveryone! I've been at this for a while, and I'm not sure how this issue can be resolved:I'm working on a project in VB.Net, and I have a form with a rich text box. I have a groupbox with 4 radio buttons inside that are intended to change the font color of the text. Coincidentally, I have to repeat this same functionality for a 2nd set of radio buttons that would change the text font family.
At any rate what I've only been able to do is the following to successfully change the font color of whatever text I highlight in the rich text box:

Is there a way that I could write a sub (I'm assuming I would use a sub, since I don't think I need to return anything, thus eliminating the use of a function) that would handle the action of changing the selected text color in the rich text box without having to use a separate sub for each radio button? Mind you, per my teacher's specs, she doesn't use a button handler for any of this.
My application appends incoming report data onto a RichTextbox control. As more text arrives from an external device, the thumb initially fills the trough and as times goes on, the thumb diminishes in size. This is expected behavior.A modal dialog box allows the user to cancel the file download but since it's modal, the user can't scroll down to see what the last text that was appended.Is there a property/event/method that will show the most recent/last text in the RichTextBox control, rather than the initial text as I have it displayed now?
