I'm trying to make a program (in VB 2008 Express Edition) that will take text (from a textbox) and then switch the letters (say a->f and A->F) and will put the result into a second textbox when I click a button. How do I code the program so that it will search through the textbox and find all of a certain letter (say a) and replace it, then search for the next letters (say b-z) and replace them?

Vigenere Cipher which I am trying to code in VB.Net. The main thing is to decrypt to plain text with keys provided. Currently, I did a small code to decrypt NIOZS to COMPU with the key LUCKY. This is done by storing the cipher text, the key text and the English alphabets in 3 different arrays each starting at index 0.
However, I do not know how to proceed on if my cipher text is longer. My cipher text file consists of texts in .txt, every 5 words are group together (e.g. NIOZS ECPQE TOGCG YMKQF E). The keys are all different in lengths. I also understand about checking letter frequency to deduce the key but I do not know from which point to start on.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to how I can get to start for my program? I tried looking for samples but some applets on the web wasn't exactly accurate or I can't start it up after I dl-ed.

I am writing a program and I have the Read Function all written out. I need to have the write function. I think is I copied and pasted from the Read function I wrote.
I was able to Mass edit This:
Reader.Position = (&H)
NumericUpDown281.Value = Reader.ReadInt16()
Reader.Position = (&H)
NumericUpDown280.Value = Reader.ReadInt16()
Reader.Position = (&H)

And there is at least 370 NumericUpDown's. Is there any way to search/find/replace all in one instead of typing:
Find what: NumericUpDown320.Value = writer.WriteInt16()
Replace with: writer.WriteInt16(NumericUpDown320.Value)
Each individually?
The write function will only write properly this way:
writer.Position = (&H)
writer.WriteInt16(NumericUpDown66.Value)
And not this way:
writer.Position = (&H)
NumericUpDown319.Value = writer.WriteInt16()

I've been trying to create a working keygen for three months and I havn't figured it out. I first inserted two buttons and named one "Generate" and the other "Exit" and then I put in a textbox. I am trying to open up a text file that contains some text. I have 3 text boxes on my screen. What I need to figure out is how to replace multiple words (1 in each textbox) with text it finds in the txt file.
I can do this by using the single find / replace feature but I'm trying to be able to fill out the 3 textboxes and then click my find / replace button to have my Regex find each predefined word and replace it with what is in the text boxes.
Here is my code to get the find / replace one word at time feature. I've tinkered with this to just add more variables to my Regex but it doesn't seem to work.

is there a way to make a textbox searchable like those Ctrl + F which can be found in most of the windows application?
I have googled and found some functions which is quite similar, but I have an issue which for eg.
My multiline textbox contains a lot of text with scrollbar, somehow the text I want to find is in the middle, when I click the find button, the word is indeed found and highlight, but the scrollbar still remain on top.
I wonder how can I make the find adjust the scrollbar as well?

I've been looking at this for a while and I'm stumped. I'm under the impression that if I use strOpass = strOpass.Replace(":d", "Z") that I should be seeing any numbers that a user inputs the code line there will return a Z. It's not working and I don't understandI've also tried "[0 - 9]" and :z, but the program is still returning the original input.B is not giving me a hard time over that line ( no errors or warnings. ) The other statements work just fine and return a X just like they should. I have a bunch of object variables which are all initialised in their declarations such that:

I would like to use the Visual Studio Find/Replace dialog box to search for "As New" then replace everything from "As New" to the first set of speech marks with some text such that:

I have a non standard text file, ie its not delimted etc, its pretty much free flowing. What I want to do is to search for a specifc string eg. "xyz123" and then replace it with what a user types into a text box, lets call the text box and its contents "txtreplace".
I am trying to replicate a find and replace function essentially, but will need to tailor it later on down the line, but this will be a starting point.

The file reads in parameters and two of the parameters used to be in Date Format YYYYMMDD but will now permanently be in format YYYY-MM-DD. This change, I believe, is stopping the import of the file from working. I would like to replace the new format YYYY-MM-DD back to YYYYMMDD in the code. If possible I'd also like to see some output so I know that the old format has been replaced with the new format. The code is below. I added the two rows with .replace code in green in expecting that to be enough but it is still not working.

I have a textbox with a large amount of data, but I am trying to extract only the following into an array: only 3 or 4 letter, uppercase words. The goal is to find all stock symbols within a document.
For example, in this post, if I were to type "MSFT", regex would extract MSFT because it is a 4 letter, uppercase word.
