I realy need to know this: I have a custom control that need to keep the keyboard focus at all time. But I also need to let the user to click some button and radio. So, is it possible to tell these control to preform their task without moving the focus away from the custom control. NB: I know that Menu and tool strip button dont move the focus, but my task is to eliminate the tool strip and provide a graphical interface
Here is what I've done:1) Created an Excel COM add-in for Excel 20032) Added a NotifyIcon to the Windows taskbar notification area (aka system tray) during ThisAddIn_Startup3) Added a ContextMenuStrip with a ToolStripButton to the NotifyIconWhy is it when I right click on the NotifyIcon, Excel gains focus? If after clicking on the NotifyIcon to display the ContextMenuStrip I choose not select an option on the ContextMenuStrip and instead click back on the Excel window, I get a weird flashing cell in Excel.I've created a video of the problem to help you see what I [url] anyone know how to prevent this? Ideally, I'd like to be able to click back on Excel and only have the ContextMenuStrip close and Excel regain focus.
I have simple application that basically allows you to open up and view PDF files.I use an OpenFileDialog control to select the PDF file and a WebBrowser control to view the file (via the Acrobat ActiveX). Everything works great. However, I would like to also record info, from each PDF file that gets viewed, into a TextBox control (someone would read a line or two from the PDF file and type a summary into a TextBox control). Once the PDF file gets loaded, it takes the focus. But instead, I would like the focus to move the TextBox control. Changing the focus upon the Web Browser1_ DocumentCompleted event does not work (I don't believe the WebBrowser control is aware of the PDF itself, just the ActiveX control) In fact, the only way to move focus to the TextBox, after the PDF file is loaded, is to click the TextBox with the mouse. I can't TAB into that field.
I'm developing a program in WPF (VB) that relies on keyboard navigation only.In my program, I have a listbox that displays up to 20000 items. What I want is that when the listbox has keyboard focus, and I move to the bottom item that is visible (using ArrowDown), I want the focus to move to the next item outside the listbox. I'm using PgUp and PgDown to scroll the listbox contents, and text search to jump to items. Is there a way to detect if the focused/selected item is the last/first visible item in the listbox? If so, I could just use:
I have Form1 based on Table1 with unique records per employee/position. Form1 is used to updated position dates/active status/add new position info for an employee. I have Form2 based on Table2 which has unique record per employee. On Form1, I have a combo box to select which employee's records to view in the detail section. If I select a record from the combo box, the detail displays any existing records from Table1 for that employee. If I need to add a new employee, a command button opens Form2 where new employee is added to Table2, and a new record is also inserted into Table1 with the employee name and ID. When I close Form2 and return focus to Form1, my combo box is refreshed to display the employee just added, however I can't get the detail to show the new, partial record from Table1 for the new employee. Form2 is a stand-alone (not a subform on Form1).I've tried hooking Requery to OnGotFocus, but that either doesn't work or isn't activated by returning focus via code. I've tried adding a text box to the detail that contains the unique EmployeeNum and setting the control source of the text box to cboEE.Column(1) (which is the EmployeeNum bound column). Am back to trying to do stuff in code after long absence and now feel lost in all the variations I've tried.
Now what I suppose is that, After I entered something in "Comment" field and press the Key "Enter", the next row of the "Comment" field will get focus.
I added the following code of the event "PreviewKeyDown", but it seems that the next whole row will get focus not only the "Comment" field...
Private Sub TxtComment_PreviewKeyDown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Input.KeyEventArgs) Dim focusRequest As TraversalRequest Dim focusedElement As Object = sender
I have to move the Cursor to certain X and Y position. I can locate the X,Y Position but the only problem I have is to activate the mouse click. I cannot do it.
Here is the code: </Private Sub btnBrowseFile_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnBrowseFile.Click Call MseMove() Call MseClick() [Code] .....
I am creating a game where on clicking the start button the object below it moves across the screen a bit further with each click of the button. I used VB at college way back in 2003 and am extremely rusty. I am guessing I have to change the X value of the Location property to make the Picture Box move horizontally across the screen, however I have had no luck so far!
I have 3 buttons 2 for browse (openfiledialog) and the other for move. I also have 2 textboxs that will say the directory of the file selected. So what I want to do is make one file move to another directory in the click of the move button.
My program's code is getting a bit jumbled with all the subroutines for button clicks, etc. I want to move them into a more manageable set of modules, but I get the following compile error:
Quote:
Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types.
For each event. Clearly I have to define a WithEvents variable, but I have no idea how or where to.
I have a mdi form and two child forms ina VB.net application. When i load the mdi both of these child forms are shown, one of the form is in focus while other is not. Now the problem is if i clickon the body of the second form it does not get
One would imagine that clicking anywhere within the MDI Child form (or on any control) will focus that form. But in my application I can only focus a MDI child by clicking on its titlebar, which is an abnormal behavior on the part of the user. My forms are filled with either controls or panels so I don't have the luxury of just "clicking on the form." But clicking anywhere within it should focus it.
On top of my page I have a button called btnViewRecords. When the User click on the button I want to set focus to another button or label further down on the same page. How can this be done.
This code does not work for me..............
btnTheRecords.Focus() or lblHeader.Focus()
Even if my code did work, i dont want to reload the page every time.
I am writing an on screen keyboard in VB.NET for a touchscreen. My problem is; how do I keep my keyboard form from getting focus when someone clicks the buttons on it? I have it on top using Me.TopMost That part is working great but I want to leave the current app have focus, not my keyboard. I'm guessing I need to use Windows API functions to accomplish this, however, I have not found any good examples in VB.NET.
I have an MDI running as the parent. How can you stop the forms moving to the back when they are open if you click in the any part of the MDI area. Also I notice if I have more than one form open it creates form instances on my windows task bar?
My application has a form which contains several Textboxes where user is required to fill up data. Once data is filled up user can click on "Save" button to save the data. I have added lost focus events to all textboxes so as to validate user input. When I click on cancel button, i want to detect cancel button click, but textbox lost focus is fired first so I get error message for textbox before my code moves to cancel button click handler. Is there any way to detect button click before lost focus event?
I have a form with few text boxes and other control on it like button etc. On click of a button on form i do some validation (like x = 2) if yes then it gives warning message and i want to give the focus back to the previous control (the control which was having focus before clicking button). I tried following on click of button
dim prevcntrl as control = asctivecontrol if x = 2 then Magbox("not valid") activecontrol = prevcntrl
I've got a Child form being shown with it's TopLevel property set to False and I am unable to click a MaskedTextBox control that it contains (in order to bring focus to it). I can bring focus to it by using TAB on the keyboard though.
The child form contains other regular TextBox controls and these I can click to focus with no problems, although they also exhibit some odd behavior: for example if I've got a value in the Textbox and I try to drag-click from the end of the string to the beginning, nothing happens. In fact I can't use my mouse to move the cursor inside the TextBox's text at all (although they keyboard arrow keys work).I'm not too worried about the odd TextBox behavior, but why can't I activate my MaskedTextBox by clicking on it?
Below is the code that shows the form:
Dim newReportForm As New Form Dim formName As String Dim FullTypeName As String Dim FormInstanceType As Type
I have mdi application, on main form which is mdi container and has a tree view. i open the child form on afterselect even of treeview. the issue i'm facing that i open the form but focus remain on tree view until i click on the the form. my question is how i can give focus to form rather it stays on treeview. i tried frm.focus also activatemdichild(frm) no sucess.
"Form1" has a ToolStripContainer1.TopToolStripPanel which contains a ToolStrip with buttons. The buttons work on ONE click when "Form1" is active. If I click on another window and then return to "Form1" the ToolStrip buttons take TWO clicks to activate. The first click returns focus to "Form1" and the subsequent click fires the button event.I want the buttons to work on the first click and not require two clicks.Note that ordinary buttons on "Form1" that are not part of the ToolStrip work on the first click when returning from another window/form?
Is there a more efficient/easier way changing the backcolor of a control when it has focus and lost focus? Let's say I've got 10 text boxes. Right now I would have 20 different events...10 for Enter event and 10 for Leave event. Of course, entering would change the back color to "green" and leaving would change it back to "white".
I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.
I have a textbox on a form that when it loses focus it updates other text boxes on the form. But before it updates the other textboxes I check the input value in the textbox lostfocus event if it is undesired I return focus to the the textbox and alert the the user with a msgbox. However where my problem is, is that when the cancel button is clicked I don't care what the input in the textbox is because the changes are being canceled but if the value is undesired the it keeps returning focus to the textbox instead of canceling the changes. Is there a way to see what control was clicked on before or in the lost focus event? Can't seem to figure it out tried enter and leave events but no luck!
So for example something like this...
Code: Private Sub TextBox1_LostFocus(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.LostFocus If Control that was clicked <> btnCancel then
I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
And few other things, I am always getting this exception: Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.
Is it possible to set focus on the keydown event so after the button control, sets the focus into the keydown? although says often control can have focus,.Putting a button and a keydown event on a form...
