View 3 RepliesI have a report made in Crystal Reports XI. The report is generated and exported to PDF in visual basic script using COM interface. Generally everything is running smoothly, but in one case generation breaks with error: Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: [Database Vendor Code 9421]
Database used is MSSQL 2005 connected over ODBC to CR XI. When I am opening report with exactly the same parameters in Designer, everything works fine.It looks like it is data related, but it is hard to trace since the whole report is pretty sophisticated. Anyway I spent half a day on crawling over Dr. Google and it seems that he has no clue what might be an issue.

I have the following set of code for a Sub program. It's inserting a row into a MSAccess Database using data provided in the containing form. What I would like to do is grab the ID number of this added record so that it can be set for a property of a window that is invoked when successfully added. I tried looking this up but I get something about @@IDENTITY but it's using an entirely different way of connecting.

I use a textbox to get the value to search and than i'd like to search all the values that has the textbox value in the middle. So, the queries should look like this: SELECT Rec1, Rec2, Rec3 FROM Table1 WHERE Rec1 LIKE "*" & txtTextBox.Text & "*"...My problem is that i don't know how to pass the "*" character to my query, if I build a string that i pass to OleDbCommand(), the query returns nothing.

As user will input previous date OT records, so the records in db will not be in sequence. the date of records#14 is before records#13. if user want to know which OT records cover the last 2 hours, the system should retrieve record #15 (90mins) & #13 (30mins) because they covers the final 2 hours. Currently what I have been doing is retrieving all the records then one-by-one cylcing through each record until I have the last 10. To me this seems to have a lot of over-head reading each record. I just wondered if there was a quicker way of doing it.
