Jul 6, 2010I'm in the process of making 2 database applications. Each are encountering their own set of errors. For this particular application, I have a "Main Menu" form that has a button which loads an "Add Record" form. The user is suppose to be able to insert new records here via text boxes, but the problem is that record with the first primary key is being displayed in the text boxes when the "Add Record" form loads. I have no idea and can't find anything anywhere about making these boxes blank. I'm connecting to the .accdb through a dataset.

I have run into a roadblock early on, because I cannot seem to get new data into an Access database that I have linked to my application by means of a DataSet. I have checked the DataAdapter's InsertCommand, DeleteCommand, and UpdateCommand definitions (created by the DataSet Wizard), and they seem to make sense, and nothing is throwing exceptions or otherwise making VB complain, but new rows added to the dataset are not being added to the database.

The INPUT line needs to be fixed. From what I can see, I need to move it all to a single field and use a split to parse it, correct? As I look at the entries on this site, all the code seems to use stream readers. Why would the book not do that? Am I missing something?

May 29, 2009I'm trying to insert and update from a table in MSAccess I've declared everything: Connection, DataAdapter and Commands.I didn't use the Command Builder instead I supplied my own Queries.My problem is if I add three rows to my table all the three rows in my database have the same values from the first row. It seems like the parameters are stuck on the values from the first row. [code] I'm using a DataTable with my DataAdapter since I'm dealing with a single table.I'm filling the table with a parametrized query, and updating it with the same dataadapter.I'm adding rows to my datatable and manipulating the table through code. I know that my data is there and every row has it's own values, I can see them when I debug my program.

Having apostrophes in the data really screws things up with this new software. Is there a simple workaround? Is it possible to specify a different character? Is it possible to add data without using SQL Statements? I also noticed that the new OleDbDataAdapter Add Method generates the same SQL Error because it apparently creates an "INSERT INTO" SQL Statement.gh
