I am trying to read data with a test routine from a fairly simple 3rd party Excel file. The file has three sheets and was created by Open Office 3.x as an 'Excel 97/2000/XP .xls' file. The later, still to be programmed, application must later run on machines with Windows XP Professional using the 2.0 .net framework and no Office package installed. The content of the file does not need to be modified by the later application. For some reason, numeric values are not read correctly. They "convert" to DBNull. I've searched around a bit but not found a 'simple' solution for solving this problem. Adding 'IMEX=1' or 'HDR=Yes;IMEX=1' to the connection string results in an error 'Installierbares ISAM nicht gefunden' (installable ISAM not found).
Based on various examples I've found, I've written the following test code:

I'm using VB.Net's Excel component to read Excel file, but the performance is totally slow, since it has to loop through cells to get values. Reading a file containing one sheet with 1162 rows and 105 columns (which is small size compared to my general requirement) already costs more than 5 minutes.1. I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

I want to run a macro that searches through the cells and tests to see if they have a substring sitting at the end of the value that is in the format "-Q[number]-[number][number]" OR "-[3 LETTER MONTH ABBREVIATION][number]-[number][number]" OR "-[3 LETTER MONTH ABBREVIATION][number][number]-[number][number]"and then if the test is true, the cell color is changed to RED.So if I ran the macro on the example I gave above, it would turn the cells with the following values red:

I'm attempting to copy cells, one at a time, from an Excel 2003 (or 2007) spreadsheet to a Word 2003 (or 2007) table. I'd like the code to be version-agnostic, and so am using late binding. The formatting of the contents of the Excel cell, such as color, underline, strike-through, needs to be preserved. My approach is to use a Word doc as a template. It has a table at the top which I can copy to the end of the doc, add rows as needed, and fill in the word table cells with the data from the excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately, all the formatting disappears. All I get is the text itself.

I have a DEM file(Digital Elevattion Model File) and I am trying to open the file,where we have Latitude and Longitude values inside the DEM file.And, Now I have opened the file using Filestream and Read the file using BinaryReader.But, I am having a trobule in getting the values of Latitude and Longitude.I am getting Byte values randomly as 1,202,31,271 etc.But, we dont have latitude and longitude values more than 180,and also I am not getting 16 bit UInt values.For example, the values should be like Latitude 20.00416666666667 and Longitude 39.99583333333333.So,read the correct Byte values of the DEM file.The code I have used till now is:
