Update Excel Values That Read From The Data Table In Ms Word?
Mar 3, 2010
I have to do an application using VB.Net .The application must be able to capture values from ms word data table and map them to ms excel sheet. For your information, i have over 6000 files ms word document, each of them contains 4 data tables using the same format .Then i have this code for read from data table 1 in document 1:
I am using Visual Studio 2005. I am using a data reader to read an Excel spreadsheet and want to update a SQL Express table. The datatypes in this table mimic a software application I will eventually be passing data to and are listed in the comments in my code. No matter what I do or change, this will not run. I even populated my spreadsheet with zeros and this will not run. I have found many suggestions on the web and tried changing things but nothing seems to work. I also don't know specifically which variable is causing the error or the proper way to make sure there are no blanks in this spreadsheet. The error says "conversion from string "" to 'Double' is not valid Here is my code:
Public Sub btnUpload_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnUpload.Click 'Connect to the Excel spreadsheet Dim xConnStr As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _ "Data Source=" & txtFileName.Text & ";" & _

I have to make a calculator that exports the data to a word/excel table -i'm using Office 2007- and i don't know how to create the code. Here's how it looks like and that's how the table should look like (i "masked" some of the parts cause they're not really important):
i am using visual studio 2005 and database sql server 2000. i want to read table of database and readed data insert in temporary table again update that inserted record.
I have this code to edit the datarow of my table adapter but t doesnt update the table. I think i have a missing code that's why but i cant figured it out. by the way im using vb2008 and SQL as my database. [code]
I have 2 tables Table1 with columns [BId,Name,Amount] Table2 with columns [CId,BId, ExpenseType,Expense]. BId Is the foreign key in Table2. The Amount field in Table1 is always higher than Expense in Table2. I need to update the values of Amount (increase or decrease) based on value of Expense and I want to do it in single query in LINQ. Eg If the Expense has to be updated with 200, I would decrease(negate) Amount value with 200. If Expense is reduce to 100 then the Amount is increased by a value of 100.
I have a login form that consists of 2 text boxes: txtUser, txtPass. Now these are not bound to any data table & I don't what them to be bound. When a new user enters his user name & password, I want to add these on a data table that has two columns: User, Pass. Data table information: Data Source = Login.accdb, Data table = LoginTable, Connection = LoginCn. I use visual basic 2010. So how do I do this?
I currently have this working already for one of my combo box's, but when i try to use the same code i get this error ''There is no row at position 6.'' . The are 2 fields in the table asset_type_id, asset_type_name', im trying to dispaly the values in a combo box for the field 'asset_type_name.
the code for ' Friend Sub RetrieveCustomerInformation2()' works but the other friend sub throws the error. Imports System.Data.SqlClient Imports System.Data Imports System Imports System.Data.OleDb
I am trying to create a program which loads a Excel file (03) with various worksheets, and the user can update them.I think it should use the Tab system on vb (08 express) and have each worksheet on each tab.On the tab, it should list the first 8 cells.
I need to develop a service and install it into a w2003 box to read excel files a then process its info. The process is as follows, users will upload excel files using FTP and then my service must take those files, validate and then update a SQL Server DB.
The application runs fine on my computer but on the server it asks for the libraries but when I try to install the MS office 2003 Primary Interop Assemblies, system displays "Please install Microsoft Office 2003 before installing the product".
I'd prefer to stay away of any server upgrade as we should require OKs, etc.. so, is there a simple way to just read excel files without having to install any update in the server.
I am trying to read data with a test routine from a fairly simple 3rd party Excel file. The file has three sheets and was created by Open Office 3.x as an 'Excel 97/2000/XP .xls' file. The later, still to be programmed, application must later run on machines with Windows XP Professional using the 2.0 .net framework and no Office package installed. The content of the file does not need to be modified by the later application. For some reason, numeric values are not read correctly. They "convert" to DBNull. I've searched around a bit but not found a 'simple' solution for solving this problem. Adding 'IMEX=1' or 'HDR=Yes;IMEX=1' to the connection string results in an error 'Installierbares ISAM nicht gefunden' (installable ISAM not found).
Based on various examples I've found, I've written the following test code: Option Strict On Option Explicit On Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click [Code] .....
I'm trying to populate a ComboBox with all column headers I have in my Excel -file... Dim Polku = fdlg.FileName Dim XL_App As New Excel.Application Dim XL_WB As Excel.Workbook = XL_App.Workbooks.Open(Polku) Dim XL_WS1 As Excel.Worksheet = XL_WB.Worksheets(1) with ComboBox1 [Code] .....
All I get are 10 values that are: System.__ComObject
Even though I should get in the dropdown list: No: Title Dept. Item Spec. Size.
I am trying to read excel data (Excel 2007 SP1, on Windows XP SP3) with visual basic .net 2008 (VB 9.0 SP1). I have tried several attempts and whatever I do I am getting the following error message: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled ErrorCode=-2147319784 Message="Altes Format oder ungültige Typbibliothek. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028018 (TYPE_E_INVDATAREAD))" Source="Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" Message="Altes Format oder ungültige Typbibliothek." Translated: Old format or unknown type libraryI have added the reference "Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library" to my project. I am assuming that I might have to add a different or an additional reference, but I do not have any clue which one to use. List of things I have already done:- Searched other forums- Altered the language settings- Tried it on an other Computer (Win XP SP3, Excel 2007, Visual Basic 2008 Express)- Ran the diagnostics tool in Excel - Updated all updates etc...- Reinstalled Visual BasicI really do not have any clue why it should not work?
Imports excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim xlsApp As excel.Application
I have a process that is a detail/Master issue. I read (into a dataset) my detail record based on several keys. Then I have to read each master record..check some fields/update some fields and then update that master. Detail is not changed. First.. How do I not lock the detail table during my select?
I'm using VB.Net's Excel component to read Excel file, but the performance is totally slow, since it has to loop through cells to get values. Reading a file containing one sheet with 1162 rows and 105 columns (which is small size compared to my general requirement) already costs more than 5 minutes.1. I want to ask if any of you have suggestion on reading such an Excel file with better performance, except OleDB, cuz most compies here have vesion problem?2. Is it normal that it tooks a long time for Excel component to read Excel file, or is it that I implement the code in a wrong way?
I m new in programming and Im trying step by step to build my first program. I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition with SP1. All I want to do is to give a button by pressing it, the ability to copy all the text from a word document into excel.
I have a listbox in my form that gets its values from a data table by data binding. My question is, when the data (row) is loaded it also selects the first line automatically. I do not want this because I want the listbox to select an item only when the user clicks on it. Otherwise, the iteme should ony be listed. Is there a way to manage this?
I'm attempting to copy cells, one at a time, from an Excel 2003 (or 2007) spreadsheet to a Word 2003 (or 2007) table. I'd like the code to be version-agnostic, and so am using late binding. The formatting of the contents of the Excel cell, such as color, underline, strike-through, needs to be preserved. My approach is to use a Word doc as a template. It has a table at the top which I can copy to the end of the doc, add rows as needed, and fill in the word table cells with the data from the excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately, all the formatting disappears. All I get is the text itself.
I have an application in VB2008 and using SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I found an error in a value that I had entered in the SQL Table and want to correct it. All I needed to do was to change a numerical value in one of the columns from 18.4 to 16.4. This table is used to fill a combobox drop down menu in the application. After I changed the number in the data row, I saved the change and ran the applocation in debug but the original number still appears in the drop down menu. If I exit Visual Studio and re-open it, the change still appears in the database table but does not appear in the combobox, when I run it in bebug.I have made changes like this many times in this application and this database table, As I recall, all I had to do was save the change and I have never had it fail to update the change in the data row.
so i just bought a years web hosting with godaddy, and apparently i have one ms SQL 2008 database, is this compatible with VB ? and if so how can i link them together? i need the user to be able to update the database but also read data from it.
I'm developing a program that handles money, and there is a pre-made excel spreadsheet that I am to be transfering data into specific cells. How can I go about telling my program to write specifc data into specific cell numer in excel? Also, how can I get my program to write into specific areas of a MS Word Template (my program will generate letter with the same template just different names/addresses/valus)?
I am currently using vb 2008 and access 2003 as back end database. I am trying to import excel data to a data table. my excel and access table header & columns are same. I was trying to do this.........
I was using ContentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" on my web site to display a datatable in an excel workbook on the client. It worked great. Now that I have upgraded to Office 2007 and vb.net 2010, I get a warning saying that the file is in a different format than specified by the file extension (.xls). I googled new ways of exporting data to excel, but have yet to find a good example. I usedMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Excel which worked great, except I read that you are not supposed to use this on a web server.
