Combobox Application With Database?

I am looking to make a small application which uses 3 stages of combo boxes to filter results into subcatagories. Once the filtering is selected - I want the user to be presented with some advice, maybe even a small picture.I want the application to gather its information run from a database which will be network based via a mapped network drive on our network. There may only be 4 colums in that database. I want to be able to update the database as required.

I have a checkbox in my application,when the checkbox is checked then i want to fetch the data from the database and add it to the dropdownlist of the combobox.Again when the checkbox is unchecked then i want to ramove all the data from the dropdownlist of the combobox.
I did this

When the checkbox is checked then the data is added from the database to the dropdownlist of the combobox but when i uncheck it then the data is not removed from the dropdownlist of the combobox. In the above code i think i need to add an else condition to remove the data from the dropdownlist of the combobox and make it empty when the checkbox is unchecked.......but i cant give the proper else condition in the above code.

I am having two databases for the same application , one in windows and the other is web based.Since web based one have few functionalities I can't opt for a single database.At the same time I want to share Both databases to be updated with other's data so as to work error free with my module of appointment fixing.

I need to pull from an access database to populate a combobox. Then from there I need to have a second combo box populated depending on the selection in the first box. My thought of an example would be a website that is setup for selecting car make, modle,year...can that be done in VB?

When I install my application, some forms are unable to connect to the database.
I say some because, when my login form works totally fine. Authentication happens.

i need to make a database application that can write/retrieve cells/datasets from/to a database i buyed a book in there was an example of how to create a database application while debugging i had the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error and it highlighted this code

i'm fairly new to VB and am doing my second system through it. I am at the point where i want to link a combobox on my form to my access database so that when i click the dropdown arrow a list of surnames from the particular table in my access database appears.

First things first is this code remotely close to doing what i want it to do? I have to use an access database and i am familiar with this particular method of connecting to the database (sending any data to it is easy now). Secondly when the form opens (since the sub is called at load) i get the annoying old "object reference not set to an instance of an object" message.

I want to populate a combo box but not using a database
e.g. combobox displays
red
white
blue
But want I want is if a person chooses red I want to pass back the number 1 value to a backend database. I'm able to populate a combo box with the colours but not sure how i 'grab' the value to pass back
Dim colours as string[] = new string[] { "red", "white", "blue" }
m_cmbColours.Items.AddRange(colours)
What I want is this
value Colour
1 red
2 white
3 blue
Combobox just displays the colours and when chosen in the combo box I grab the value corresponding to colour chosen.

Anyway, My problem is that I have a Setting from "My.Settings.Navigation" that is a Specialized String Collection, and what I am trying to do is find a method in which I can attach "My.Settings.Navigation" to a ComboBox. I was also wondering if it was possible to make it only hold up to 20 items at a time?

I have a combobox that is bound to a database.After I click "New Record" to insert a new record, I want to default to the first item in the Combobox list. This will speed up user input.any ideas. I have tried most ways but this should work correct:

I am having a problem with filling a combobox with unique values.Im not very good at vb either so I will explain what I have done so far.
1. I added a combobox to my form called Combobox1
2. I clicked the little triangle widget thing on the ComboBox1 set the dataset to MyDATASETDataSet1
3. Display Member: CurrencyCountry, Value Member: FCode, Selected Value = None
4. I fill MyDATASETDataSet1 when the form loads using:
PricesTableAdapter.ComboBoxQuery(CurrencY_DATABASEDataSet1.Prices)
ComboBoxQuery =
SELECT DISTINCT [CurrencyCountry], [FCode] FROM [Prices]
The form does not load, i get the error: Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.If I replace ComboQuery with Fill Query (which is the default fill command) it displays results....but not unique results, i see the same items being repeated throughout the list in the combobox.I guess my questions are:
1. when you fill a dataset do you need to select all the fields when you are creating your query?
2. if i simply wanted to perform the following lookup:
SELECT DISTINCT [CurrencyCountry], [FCode] FROM [Prices]and set the combobox Display Member: CurrencyCountry, Value Member: FCode how would I do this in the code?
3. how can i change my query to display only unique values, distinct doesnt seem to be working?
