Compare DataGridView With Earlier Version?
Feb 17, 2012
I'm working on a program that set up as master/details. I'm working on making save checks in the program, so that if something gets changed, it gives a warning when leaving the form if it hasn't been saved. I've got it mostly working, but I'm having problems with when i get to my details section.
The details section is a DataGridView (DGV) that loads with a one to many relationship. I've got is set up right now that when the form loads, it takes and makes an array call aryOriginals, and as you close the form, it makes another array called aryClosing. It compares these two sets of arrays, and if nothing is different since the page opened, it will close without any problems. If it has been changed, a msgbox pops up to let the user know that there has been a change since they last saved and asks if they want to wait to close the form so they can save.
All of that is working great. What I'm having a problem with is doing the same thing with the datagridview. And before anyone suggests it, I can't use DataSet1.HasChanges, because that was giving me weird problems of saying there were changes when nothing changed due to a custom made combobox i use in a few of my datagridviews. So I need some way of comparing the two datagridviews. I've looked online, but can't seem to find anything with what I'm looking for.

I wrote a programme and sent it to my client, (it was not a deployment or install file - just the .exe). He responded that it would not run and the PC reported "this program requires Net Framework 2.0". He cannot update the PC in question with Net Framework 2.0. So my question is can i somehow change my program to use an earlier version of Net Framework?

I am using VB.NET 2008 Express Edition and INNO Setup. When I create a setup and run it, the resulting install is an older version of my project from, I think, 2 or 3 days ago. If I go back to my project in the developer window and run the project, it is clearly a newer version than the install. Since this installed version that comes up was done I have added a form and made many other changes.Is it because the build didn't exeucte? When you run the project doesn't it execute a build every time?I tried this again from a backup. (The backup is much more recent than the version I'm getting.) And it still does the same thing.Why does the install not match the project? It is not possible to go into the project and add the changes because they are already there.

This worked fine in VB 6...but does not in 2010. Any ideas of what I have to change?
If Gun1Avail = "No" Then
targetcount = 1
Do Until targetcount = 7
If frm.Controls("Target" & targetcount & "Gun1") = "Blah" Then
frm.Controls("Target" & targetcount & "Gun1").BackColor = vbRed
End If

How they relate and differ from each? What are the best practices for version control? Is there a primer about publish online? Or a good book?
And is it possible to make ClickOnce and a msi in one solution of VS 2008? If so, is there any conflict or pitfall?
BTW I am using VB if that makes any difference.

When I try to run the dll I compiled in Visual Studio 2010, I get the following message: This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I'm guessing this means that I am a too recent version of Visual Studio. Is there a way I can build the dll as an earlier version?

i wanna compare my cells in datagridview. I have a datagridview with n columns and n rows. I have my datagridview row value as Time . I need to compare all the row cell values with one particular time.
Here you go with an example.
if my dgv is filled with time values such as 3:42:10 AM 4:43:17 PM etc..I need to compare all the cell values to 5:00:00 PM. greater than condition. I need to highlight only the values which are greater than 5:00:00 PM but less than 3:30:00 AM.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to determine if there has been any data change to the actual database since my last data retrieval.I'm using a DataGridView to display the cache data to the end-user, but before they make permanent changes to the database, I would like to query the actual database to make sure that no updates have been made to the data source. I'm querying an AS400 system, so I have to use the OleDbDataReader object to retrieve data from the system. What is the best approach for this scenario?

My application is in VS2008 coded in Vb.net I have a datagridView on one of my form.This is filled from the database at the load event of the form.The datagridView also has a column of type DatagridViewComboboxcolumn. This DatagridViewComboboxcolumn already has 4 values added to it in its collection during design time.My requirement is when the data is loaded in the datagridview, the corresponding record which is supposed to be loaded in DatagridViewComboboxcolumn should compare its value with the value of DatagridViewComboboxcolumn.And if the value matches than that value should get selected in DatagridViewComboboxcolumn. The database will have the any of the 4 values that are already in DatagridViewComboboxcolumn.It just has to compare both values and select the matching value. Below is my Code
query= "Select Record1,Record2,Record3 from TableName"
cmd = New SqlCommand(query, connection)
dr = cmd.ExecuteReader()
[Code].....

I am currently working on a silverlight project with RIA Services and have seem to come across a bug(or wrote a new one).In a simple query I am retrieving a entity model from the server. In the server side service class a DateTime is correct(to what's in the db) but on the client it seems to go back 24 hours and maybe 10 hours...6/04/2009 12:00:00 AM (Database) turns into 5/04/2009 2:00:00 PM and also displays as 5/4/2009 12:00:00 AM.

'OS Check
Dim osValue As Object
osValue =
My.Computer.Registry.GetValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrent Version", "CurrentVersion", "5.2")

*Note - 5.2 is Windows 2003, 6.0 is Vista, 5.1 is Windows XP

I have created a license system for my application with MySql about half a year ago. What it would do is take the serial number and send it to my server if the key was correct it would return a 0 if its wrong the return value would be a 1.The problem was that when the serial number was entered correctly my program would create a "fake file" for example vb.dll in the system.And on run time my program would check for that vb.dll if the file exist it would skip my trial program and run the app as a full version. Half year later i think creating a "fake file" and checking for it on start up is extremely wrong and that's not very good security.How can i check the difference between a full version and unregistered version?

I would like my program to overwrite its previous version such that users don't have to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one.
I'm guessing it has something to do with setting Publish Version (Major, Minor, Build, Revision), Assembly Version or File Version.

I am building VB.NET application that takes data from text files that are exported from a legacy DOS program. These are written to a datatable and displayed in a datagridview. Right now my code simply loops through the datagridview and inserts the data into the database (SQL Server). There is a requirement now that the client number must be checked before the insert to see if it exists in the database. If it does, then the value of one field (tax rate) is checked against the value of the field in the datagridview. If there is a difference, then the rate is to be updated in the database and the data that was in the database is to be written to a history table for audit purposes. If the client number is not there, then we are to do the insert (which is already written). I want to know what is the most elegant and efficient solution for this problem.
I need to compare what is in the database table with what is in the datagridview, update the history table for records that exist, and then insert new records.

A few years ago I started development of an application using VB6.0. We shelved the project but are now looking at reviving it. In addition, we are looking at developing another application that we probably could design using use VB. Our OS: PC, XP SP3; Server, Windows Server 2000.
We plan to use both applications in our business; however, we believe there may be opportunities to develop and market both.What versions of VB are available? Is Visual Studio VB? [Please excuse my ignorance... I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. :)]
What version of VB would be best for us to use?
