Convert Custom JSON Object To A .NET Object?

I have a JSON object that looks like this.

{
"Errors":{
"err1":[
//* Array of err1 objects

[code]....

PD: I'm currently using Newtonsoft's JSON.Net library.

Public Sub New(ByVal jsonText As String)
Dim jObject As JObject = jObject.Parse(jsonText )
Dim jErrors As JToken = jObject("Errors")
Dim jS = New JsonSerializer()

Wpf - Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object When Using Custom User Control

Feb 10, 2012

I have created a custom user control (JCUserControl), and I am using it in the Main Window. And my Main Window has no codebehind. I have this in the JCUserControl codebehind:

Private Sub ImmediateRadioButton_Checked(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles ImmediateRadioButton.Checked
SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = False
End Sub

When I run it, it fails with the NullReferenceException. If I comment out the SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = false, it runs without any problems.

Edit: Found out that I could just check if the radio buttons are loaded before doing whatever I want to do.

Private Sub ImmediateRadioButton_Checked(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles ImmediateRadioButton.Checked
If ImmediateRadioButton.IsLoaded Then
SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = False
End If
End Sub

Convert Object Of Type1 To Another Object Of Type2

Jul 19, 2010

In Visual Studio 2008 vb.net i have created a windows forms application containing 2 web references: wr1 and wr2.

wr1 contains a public class "Person" and wr2 also contains a public class "Person". They both have exactly the same properties.

What i would like to achieve is to convert an object of type wr1.person to wr2.person. Something like this:

dim p1 as wr1.person
p1 = wr1.GetPerson(123)
dim p2 as wr2.person
p2 = p1
wr2.AddPerson(p2)

Insert Data Into An Object And Have It Spit Out A Json Formatted String?

Mar 28, 2011

I am looking for a vb.net library where I can insert data into an object and have it spit out a json formatted string, and also take the string in again to rebuild the object.I am not that concerned with mapping it to preexisting objects.I have searched around and every single library I've found either can't read the strings in again, interprets them as one long string instead of breaking them up into parts, or fails to work entirely (asp.net can't even find any public members).

Javascript - Accessing Elements Of JSON Object Without Knowing The Key Names

Feb 25, 2011

Here's my json:

{"d":{"key1":"value1",
"key2":"value2"}}

Is there any way of accessing the keys and values (in javascript) in this array without knowing what the keys are?

The reason my json is structured like this is that the webmethod that I'm calling via jquery is returning a dictionary. If it's impossible to work with the above, what do I need to change about the way I'm returning the data?

Here's an outline of my webmethod:

<WebMethod()> _
Public Function Foo(ByVal Input As String) As Dictionary(Of String, String)
Dim Results As New Dictionary(Of String, String)

Flattening An Object Hierarchy Using A Shim Class - Initializing Derived Object Properties From The Base Object?

Jul 10, 2010

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:

newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class

flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class

Code example:

Public Class derivedObj
Inherits baseObj
Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......

Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.

Code example:

' property names are in the string array fieldNames

'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj

'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....

Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?

Twitter Json - Unable To Convert To Jobject Or Jarray Using Json.net / Javascriptserializer?

May 9, 2012

I am been stuck on this for 3 days now...I have been accessing the twitter api to pull a user_timeline for a list of users and the json that comes back is impossible to work with. I tried to deserialize it using javascriptserializer and get an error:invalid object passed in , ':' or '}'

Now this is frustrating since I expect the json being returned to be error free. Then I tried json.net and split the posts using string.split and tried to convert each post to Jobject or jarray. for Jarray I get

'unexpected end of content while loading jArray

[Code]...

Now I have formatted the code here and not pasted the whole file but it does look like valid json to me and I do not alter anything after receiving the stream from the twitter api. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I really need to get this stuff parsed?

C# - Return Value Of "count" Property In JSON Object

May 24, 2012

I have a json object from the facebook api

"comments": {
"count": 2
},
"updated_time": "2012-05-24T02:46:36+0000"

The entire json object is a dynamic object.

I can easily read the value of the updated_time with:

post.updated_time

However this returns the count of items in the collection, not the value of the "count" property in the json object.

post.comments.count

Is it possible to get the value of post.comments.count without it using the "count" keyword?

I should note that the JSON is much larger than this. If there are actually comments there is another collection of the actual comments so something like post.count(0) would not work in that case.

I'm willing to use an additional DLL file if needed.

List Of New Custom Object?

Sep 2, 2010

I created a simple (for now) custom object:

VB
Public Class Form1
Dim AllPartFiles As List(Of Part)

[code]....

As I search a folder for files, it returns FilePath as a string for each file in the folder, then assigns a new Part.FullFilePath to the current returned FilePath, then add the Part to AllPartFiles list. So I can retrieve each Part from AllPartFiles later. But everything I try doesnt work.I know below is wrong, but might show what Im trying to do:

VB
Dim Files() As String
Files = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(RootFolder, "*.ipt")
Dim k As String

[code]....

Create a New Part, change its values, and then add it to AllPartFiles list for later, then repeat?

Asp.net - Bind A GridView To A Custom Object?

Apr 1, 2011

If I have the following ASP.NET code (it's not complete - obviously there's a lot missing, but none of it matters):

<asp:GridView>
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>

[code]....

How can I bind the GridView so that one row is equivalent to one item in my MyListOfObjects list, and so that the data will populate and persist across page loads or postbacks? I've never done custom databinding like this before, so a full explanation would be very helpful. All the tutorials I've come across so far only talk about using GridViews directly with Database query results, and that's not what I need.
