I need to convert numbers to words, (ex: 123 to one hundred twenty three/ 123.5 to one hundred twenty three point five.I use visual basic express 2010. I intend to create a textbox for the input and use a label to show the result. If I call the textbox "textbox1" and the label "label1", what will the code be?
I have downloaded VS Express 2010 edition from Microsoft website. I want to convert a VB 6.0 project into VB.Net using VS Express 2010. Is it possible to do it without the "Upgrade Wizard"? How much will it cost me to get basic VS 2010 Professional with the "Upgrade Wizard" option? What other tools (that I might require during conversion) are missing in the VS Express edition?
I'm trying to create a small program, which I think will be helpful to others(in here). My aim is to convert the English text shown in screen to Malayalam. English-to-Malayalam conversion is not a problem. But the problem is, how to extract the text from the screen. In most of the converter/translator, the text needs to be copied or written down in the translator tool. But my program will cut off that part. That is, simply move the program window (having a rectangle hollow portion) to the English word that needs to be converted. And upon pressing a button (or autodetect), the English word is converted to Malayalam.
So, my question is how to extract the English text(or words) from the screen (which is seen through the hollow portion of the window.
The function "Convert.ToInt32" returns my an integer increased by 48. My operating system is Windows Vista with 32 bit. Here a code, where the bug will be called:
Module Main Sub Read(ByVal Text As String, ByRef Value As Integer) Console.Write(Text)
I want to test out a code line with about 50,000 characters over about 7 lines, but VB takes about 2-3 minute breaks for every line of code I change and it crashes every 1-5th try. I moved the code into a public shared sub in a new class, and closed the class tab, but still VB can't resist checking though the code all the time.Is there any way I can prevent VB from checking that class/code?
I am trying to make a user account SQL database work with Visual Basic 2008 Express for login purposes, i.e. usernames & passwords. Plan is to host this server so people can login to use the the application and verify they have a valid account. I would like to host all the account information in SQL due to the possiblity of hundreds of users at any given time. I also need the ability to add data to the database for users registering for the first time. The SQL server will need to be able to access the SQL Server databases remote via WAN.
I have a textbox which has a numeric value that changes - would it be possible to check if that value matches two numeric values in a text file? and if the value matches then to display some text in a label? The textfile only has fields displayed like so Horizontal 55 Vertical 16 So I would only need to check if the numeric field in textbox matches the two numbers in the second column. In the past I have use System.IO.File to create/delete/append to files but I havent come across anything like contains.
I am making a gradient colored text tool for a game I play where they use a 3 digit number as an RGB color code before text. Making gradients by hand is tedious, as to do a gradient you type one letter at a time with an RGB code that changes by 1 in front of each letter. example: "^090H^190e^290l^390l^490o" Would be a color gradient for Hello
I have a user input text into a text box and choose up to 6 colors. The colors then are assigned RGB values, only instead of 0-255 they are 0-9. (So they look like this 000=black 999=white 090=green, etc.)
I have figured out how to do this, but now I need to place the RGB values in front of the users text while only changing one of the RGB numbers at a time.
So if the color values are 090 and 900: "090 190 290 390 490 590 690 790 890 990 980 970 960 950 940 930 920 910 900" is what I would like generated with the users text spaced evenly between.
I have no idea as to how I would go about putting three digit color codes between the users text or how to change the color codes one number at a time. I could try to do this on my own but it would be sloppy and probably a lot more code than needed (I have a feeling I should be using a loop or something like 'for each')... It's been awhile since I opened VB!
I want these labels to display the text from a third party Software program.
The text is displayed in a child form of the main form the text is in
"window handle is 000E0678"" RichEdit20W"
The text scroll up continuously,
every time - let's say John (10year) 'is displayed, it takes the 10y and place it in Label1
Ann (22year 7Street) 'is displayed, it takes the 22y & place it in Label2 7St in Label3
get that text in the labels I only know a little VB. I have used Spy++ to get the window handle
Yes lots for the pro's but we dont understand it, if its just code we dont know where to start or make changes to that code. This is something simple that beginners will understand
I am looking for a sdk with sample code for use in VB2010 to convert text to speech. I have the microsoft sdk but cannot get it working in VB2010 and I cant find any samples to use it. I would like to use this sdk, I just cant find any examples for me to play around with.
I am making a program, where the user enters 6 numbers in 6 different text boxes, and it displays the larger of those 6 numbers. But I also want to make it where if the user enters a string value (like S for instance) in the text boxes, it gives an message and says "please enter the numbers again" and the user gets to enter the 6 numbers again. But when I do try to do that, it gives an error message saying conversion from "w/e the user entered" to Double is not valid. If the user just enters the numbers, it works fine. However, I am trying to make it if the user does enter non numeric value, it gives a message window and the user can reenter the numbers again.
Here is my code Example
CODE:
This is where I am trying to use IsNumeric to show a message if a user does not enter a string so the user can renter the numbers again, but when the user does enter a string value (say in textbox 1) it gives me an error message saying conversion from "S" to 'double' is not valid.
CODE:
Then right here this is where I have my series of ifs statements, this part works fine, it displays the largest numbers of the 6 textboxes every time. Error free.
CODE:
And do this with variable number 2, 3, 4, 5.
I know there are easier ways to do these with arrays and stuff. But I am not there yet. I am still learning about ifs and stuff.
If you have two text boxes and when you input two numbers it outputs th permutations in a third text box of the two numbers. Example: You put 5 in textbox1 and 6 in textbox2 textbox3 outputs:
5,6 6,5
I know this can be done with nested For loops, but I don't know exactly how.
I tried to start using VB 2010 Express with a program I originally developed with VB 2005 Express that I moved to VB 2008 Express successfully a couple years ago. It uses a database file (*.mdf) that is on the computer ( not out on a server). When attempt to run the program in debug mode, I get the following error "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Documents and SettingsTomMy DocumentsQuizzing StuffQuestion Database 2010QuizQuest ionGameQuizQuestionGameinReleaseQuizQuestionDB.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."
I first made a copy of the entire project folder that was working in VB 2008 Express and gave it a different name. In VB2010 I opened the project in the copied folder and it said it successfully converted the project. I am able to open the Data Source inthe Designer and see the database structure as I expect. I think the project is still using SQL Server 2005 Express (because it is what is checked in the list of prerequisites on the Publish tab).
Note, I have programmed off and on for many years, but fairly new to using databases and SQL Server.

I am trying to re write a VB6 program using MS Access, many years ago, using VB 2010 express and SQL server 2008 R2 Express. I have a database with several tables, which I created using the designer. I am able to connect to the database and select data and display it in textboxes etc in vb code. What I have not been able to in code is to INSERT rows DELETE rows or UPDATE any data in the tables. I can do any of these operations using the Query Designer, but I want to do it in code. I can post some code if necessiary, but I thought it might just be some property that I had not set in the designer.
Is VB Express 2010 slower to compile and run that older versions of VB Express? I've installed it this weekend and it seems a little sluggish on my quad core computer with 1 gig of RAM. I have VB Express 2005 installed for my students at school and it seems to fly just fine. Those school computers are older P4s with 512k of RAM.
Initially my app worked with excel fine, now it causes my computer to reboot only after Excel has been opened (two or more times). I have opened and closed Excel files 20+ times without running thru either of my apps (they all uses identical code for excel) and it has never caused a reboot or a crash.
run either of my apps and have the app control excel has become a crap shoot, it will reboot my computer. Adding to that I then have to do a manual shutdown because the reboot process after is unstable. (System doesn't respond properly). My code in this app is small, should make for a good example. I can provide the entire project to anyone who would volunteer to test it. (First I need to know how to send the project).
there Dream in Code Community! Im an okay programmer as far as skill right now I am still learning as we all are I need some help from some experienced VB.NET programmers in the community, Here is the scoop: I am trying to make a user account SQL database work with Visual Basic 2008 Express for login purposes, i.e. usernames & passwords.
I can get the numbers to convert the input works right dispalys in listbox just wont loop been at it for two weeks It only ask for store 1 values it displays it but it doesn't prompt for the rest of the stores values it should be 5 i tries for 1 to 5 at the top of the statement but that didn't work either.
private Sub btnDisplay_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDisplay.Click Dim strvalue As String Dim intcount, intsales As Integer [Code] .....
I need to take user input, validate to ensure there's no negative numbers and display monthly fee and check fee in a Label.....with a calculate button_Click
I've used .NET for a long time now but I have come across something I haven't had to do before and I'm struggling to work it out. What I need to do is work with binary numbers and convert them to decimals and vice versa but not necessarily using even numbers e.g. I would like to represent a number between 0 and 2047 which can be represented with 11 binary digits. Plus I want to represent a second number between 0 and 500000 which can be represented with 19 binary digits, and a third number, fourth etc. Then I want to string the whole binary results together and split it in to sections of lets say 5 bits each and convert those back to decimal.
