I want to paste a file from the clipboard that has been copied from a compress folder using VB.net. But I have not found how to use the information to grab the file and paste it.
View 1 RepliesI am actually using Powerbuilder, but can convert easily from VB.net.
We would like users to be able to copy outlook message files to the clipboard (ctrl-V) and paste as a file into a
powerbuilder application. We have dragdrop working really well, but we have many users working through multiple citrix sessions where only copy - paste works.
Windows explorer gives a perfect example of being able to paste the message just as I would like. But what does it use under the bonnet to do this?[cod]e....

View 2 RepliesI'm wanting to write a program where a user can copy text from a pdf file, paste it into my program and it can identify which file the text came from and where in the file the text was copied from. This is so that later on, the user can then select the pasted text, and the program can load up the source pdf and highlight the text section. Are there any components out there which I can use to accomplish this

View 12 RepliesI have ashort (1.3MB) video clip set up with the Build Actiontent, and Copy to Output Directory as Copy Always.I am displaying the clip using mciSendString calls, which is working fine. However, I have been asked to change the delivery method so that the video file needs the Build Action to be set to EmbeddedResource and Copy to Output Directory as Do Not Copy , so I need to find a way to write the file to disc on demand so I can play it, then delete it when the form closes.
View 2 RepliesI'm creating a WPF application in VB.NET with the 3.5 Framework. (If you provide an example in C#, that's perfectly fine.)
In my project I have a Template for an MS Access database. My desired behavior is that when the users clicks File-->New, they can create a new copy of this template, give it a filename, and save it to their local directory.
The database already has the tables and some starting data needed to interface with my application (a user-friendly data editor)
I'm thinking the approach is to include this "template.accdb" file as a resource in the project, and write it to a file somehow at runtime?
So i created resource file New --> new file --> Native Resource Template Then added icons with custom id, like "x", "u_100", .. so i understand, what the files (in my case icons) is.. And i saved as 32-bit resource file (*.res) So i have a question, how can i use these files inside of resource file in my apps? i know how to add icons in to my app.. Me.Icon = New Icon(C:/icon.ico)

I have a small copy/paste type of program. You put text in the boxes, click copy and it copies it to the clipboard. I have a text file attached to format the text when it is copied. what I want to accomplish is...If I don't fill in every single textbox with text, I don't want that particular field to show when I paste it. Example, I have the layout like below on the text document.
textbox1.
textbox2.
textbox3.
No matter what, when I click copy, the text document is going to copy textbox1,2,and 3. If I only put text in textbox 1 and 3, I don't want it to copy textbox2 if its empty.
I have a program that uses IO.File.Copy to copy files from point a to point b. Its slow, which is fine because there rather large files. I was wondering if there is way to get an estimate time to copy a particular file(s).
Example: File a will take 1 hour to copy, File B will take 30 minutes to copy. Estimate Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes.
can anyone please explain to me how I get the file path to an embedded video resource file I have?Currently I know how to get this while debugging, but I am unsure how to refer to it when built. It needs to work no matter where the application files are.[code]

View 19 RepliesBefore I begin I would like to mention that I am not a noob in VB, it's just I've never had to do anything this complex before. Basically what I want is to have a program that you can load a txt file in, have it copy key words, and paste it in a textbox so I can use it later on. So in this text file, there is a bunch of info, but I am only needing a certain part. Here is an example of a text file (actually a .dat file, but is easily read):

The idea is to have a central place to put the routine in instead to copy it into every .vb file that belongs to each .apsx code file.
I have a program that I copy a file from one server to another. This has been working well if the servers are on the same domain.I now need to copy a file to a server on a different domain. If I were to do this manually it would prompt me for my username and password.
I don't see any way to put a username and password with doing an IO.File.Copy. Is there a better way to do this?IO.File.Copy(strSource, strDest)
