I am a bit in a pitch here. We have got a development environment and a sat environment for our oracle databases.Here is what I want to achieve. I want to copy data from an x number of columns of my dev. environment to the same x number of columns of my sat enviroment. I am creating a database in VB.NET for a movie rental place. I currently have three forms;
Member Information
DVD Information
Borrow DVDs
What I would like to do is when I am viewing a member's details, if I click a button 'Borrow DVD for Member', the member's ID number transfers over to the Borrow DVDs table in the Member ID which also would hold some information from the DVD Information table, but I'm sure if i can figure out how to do this firstly, I will be able to apply the same rule and work it out myself.I have been trying to use a query statement like;
INSERT INTO [Borrow DVDs].[Member ID] [IN goodstuffvideos.mdb]
SELECT [Member Information].[Member ID]
FROM [Member Information]
but that has been coming up with error codes and completely not working.
Borrow DVDs table fields are: Borrow ID, Member ID, DVD ID Number, Hiring Fee, Borrowing Limit?
DVD Information table fields are: DVD ID Number, Title, Rating, Hiring Fee, Borrowing Limit Member?
Information table fields are: Member ID, Family Name, Given Name, Address, Town/Suburb, Postcode?
The error coming up is; Error in INSERT statement. Unable to parse query text.And under that it says The query cannot be represented graphically in the Diagram and Criteria Pane.

I have the following code to try and change a field in a Microsoft SQL database. I don't get any Exceptions when processing the code but I use the Microsoft SQL Management Studio to view the data before and after but the data does not change.

I've been staring at this and can't seem to come up with a solution. I've tried several different methods that i found on the web but to no avail. I'm hoping you all could take a look at the code below and give me some direction as to why I'm receiving the error "The INSERT INTO statement contains the following unknown field name: 'Deposit_Date' . Using VB 2008, I have a form which includes a richtextbox which is bound to a database field. When i bind the datafield to the richtextbox, I get an unformatted display unlike the control in VB6. How can I bind the data from the database to the richtextbox so that it displays formatted?

I need to copy data from one database to another using a VB.NET program. The target database is SQL Server the source database is some proprietary ODBC compliant database.
I need to loop through a list of table to copy. Read the data from the source database table for a given modified date. Delete the corresponding date from the target database table and insert the records from the source table. The databases are of the same structure i.e. table names and field names, but the data types may differ (however they are compliant e.g. double in source, float in target). No primary keys exist.
Heres how I may do it :
Firstly execute a Delete command to the target. I could then use a DataReader to obtain data from the source, loop through the Items and create an Insert Command for each row. Add Parameters to the Command with the appropriate values and execute. And wrap the whole thing in a Transaction.

I am trying to bind data from a text box on my form to a field in my database table. First of all I have created a DataSet, BindingSource and Table Adapter in the forms Design view, but I am having from there. Under the properties of each text box I have set the DataBindings (Text) to the field in the table under the forms instance and DataSet rather than the Projects Data Sources. I am very rusty at Visual Studio 2005 and that is all I have to work with.

I can save my data to access database and in the access database field I set it to date/time.But problem is when I get the value out from the database.. the format is always month/day/year hour:minutes:seconds example today: 5/2/2011 12:00:00..How to get the value into listview becoming May/2/2011 without the hour..Here's my code to get it from database ListView1.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dt.Rows(i)(14).ToString).The second problem is.When I would like to edit, how can the datetimepicker get the listview value ? I'm working with the project that require save all user personal information in one table when they login my system. The problem is too many users login my system per day ( or one user can login/out many time per day), it's very hard to manage. So, I want to add one more function which can specify one user information. My solution is create a text box and a find button to filter the user whose name in text box and copy to other table after that show that table, the problem is I don't know how to do that.
I also try the code which show below, but with that way I can't achieve my require[code]...
Another question is how can I delete all information in a table in database?

I'm using a MS Access 2007 database. I modified the field definition of one of the fields in a table, it a text field and I change the maximum length from 40 to 150. I have a data source in my app that contains this table and many others. I refreshed the data source but the change didn't take affect. I went through configure option but the change still didn't take affect. It gives me this error,
The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.
If I add/delete a database field the data source is updated when I go through the configure process. I finally just deleted the table from my data source and then added it back.

I have data entries in my database that have a common field. For example:
account_id type user_id
1 new 1
2 old 3
3 new 1
4 old 1
I am using a query like this(mysql): SELECT account_id, type, user_id FROM table WHERE user_id = 1
This is just all theoretical. The problem that I am having with this is it is only returning the first result in this case account_id 1. How can I get it to find all the results with the user_id 1 because in the way I am thinking that it is failing is that it is finding only the first result and then ending?

I have a table I created in SQL Server Management Studio. I had to create it there because I needed to use a function for an alpha-numeric ID column that increments itself. I then exported the table, but had to use my local server. Now, in visual studio, I have the local server connection that contains the table I want to copy to a connection for a remote server. I can right-click and select 'Copy', but I can't right-click and 'Paste' into the database I need.

is it possible to do a two way sync on the entire gridview when the user hits a button so you don't have to do an update every time a row is changed? because the user might check the box and then check another box then uncheck a box and it would be a lot of updates...

The fact is I'm making an application, which users can install by using a Setup file...once installed the data in the database can be updated by a centralized server. To do this, they can insert a DVD/CD-ROM and export the necessary data towards it. I need to do it that way, because some of the users who really need this data will be using stand alone computers.The application gets it's data from a mdb-file and the connection remains open as long a person works with the application (maybe not the best way to do, but I know :-) )...when the user uses the application, he can perform an export...this exports the .ini-file and pictures (which works fine), but he also needs to export the mdb behind the application...I already tried connection.close() before and connection.open() after the System.IO.File.Copy...but that doesn't seems to work.

In my application I have fields where a phone number can be copied and pasted in a field. I want to strip that number of ),(,- and spaces. I want to use a function so I can just give the number a value like:

I am trying to copy a table from a network database to a local database. I used DAO and could check if the network table existed using a function that tried to assign a TableDef object to the table in question. If there was no error then I assumed that the table existed and the function returned true...Or it would error out and return false.I could then proceed with the copy or not as the case may be.I am converting the code to ADO.net and need to know how to check for a table. I have a small copy/paste type of program. You put text in the boxes, click copy and it copies it to the clipboard. I have a text file attached to format the text when it is copied. what I want to accomplish is...If I don't fill in every single textbox with text, I don't want that particular field to show when I paste it. Example, I have the layout like below on the text document.
textbox1.
textbox2.
textbox3.
No matter what, when I click copy, the text document is going to copy textbox1,2,and 3. If I only put text in textbox 1 and 3, I don't want it to copy textbox2 if its empty.

I'm trying to make an appointment scheduler here. The table has an AppID column which just increments 1 every time a new appointment is added. That works fine. It also has an ID column that gets a unique doctor ID assigned to it so the program knows which doctor has which patient.
Now, when I try to add a new row, no matter what I try, the ID field gets a -1. I've tried assigning it the doctor's ID that I'm currently browsing as well as hard coding it to be a "3" and it still shows as -1. So this means that while it [B]does[/B] save and update the new row, it adds that -1 in the ID column and thus the program can't tell which doctor has it so it won't show in my program. I don't know if this is because I've tried so many data sets that it's getting them confused or what, but here is the code that I am using to try to save this:
