Update A Field In SQL Database But Can't Get The Data To Change

I have the following code to try and change a field in a Microsoft SQL database. I don't get any Exceptions when processing the code but I use the Microsoft SQL Management Studio to view the data before and after but the data does not change.

I'm using a MS Access 2007 database. I modified the field definition of one of the fields in a table, it a text field and I change the maximum length from 40 to 150. I have a data source in my app that contains this table and many others. I refreshed the data source but the change didn't take affect. I went through configure option but the change still didn't take affect. It gives me this error,
The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.
If I add/delete a database field the data source is updated when I go through the configure process. I finally just deleted the table from my data source and then added it back.

There are lots of questions about this but I've not been able to solve my problem using the answers to any of them (after many, many attempts..)
I'm working in vb.net creating an asp.net web application. I have an SqlDataSource and a GridView on my page.
I want to change the DoNotMail boolean value represented by a Gridview checkbox and automatically update in the database if the checkbox is checked from 0 (False, Will Mail) to 1 (True, Won't Mail) here is the code I used. [code]...
is it possible to do a two way sync on the entire gridview when the user hits a button so you don't have to do an update every time a row is changed? because the user might check the box and then check another box then uncheck a box and it would be a lot of updates...

I have written this set of code that will update an Access Database row: (Total_RAM, Model, etc are just string variables)
Dim Record As InventoryDataSet.InventoryRow
Record = frmMain.InventoryDataSet.Inventory(0)

Record.Total_RAM = Total_RAM
Record.Model = Model

My problem is the fact that one specific record called "Record.Asset_Tag" exists in the database, but I don't want to programically alter it. That will need to be typed in manually. However, even if I don't put in the line "Record.Asset_Tag = ...", it will overwrite anything in the field with a blank.How do I keep whatever is in the database unaltered in the Asset_Tag column?

I want to UPDATE 1 field in a row of data but I want to select that row based upon 2 other changeable fields. I can not get the changeable fields to work. When I put in a integer in place of the @field, it works but when I use any @field name of field name, it does not work. HELP HELP

I am creating a database in VB.NET for a movie rental place. I currently have three forms;
Member Information
DVD Information
Borrow DVDs
What I would like to do is when I am viewing a member's details, if I click a button 'Borrow DVD for Member', the member's ID number transfers over to the Borrow DVDs table in the Member ID which also would hold some information from the DVD Information table, but I'm sure if i can figure out how to do this firstly, I will be able to apply the same rule and work it out myself.I have been trying to use a query statement like;
INSERT INTO [Borrow DVDs].[Member ID] [IN goodstuffvideos.mdb]
SELECT [Member Information].[Member ID]
FROM [Member Information]
but that has been coming up with error codes and completely not working.
Borrow DVDs table fields are: Borrow ID, Member ID, DVD ID Number, Hiring Fee, Borrowing Limit?
DVD Information table fields are: DVD ID Number, Title, Rating, Hiring Fee, Borrowing Limit Member?
Information table fields are: Member ID, Family Name, Given Name, Address, Town/Suburb, Postcode?
The error coming up is; Error in INSERT statement. Unable to parse query text.And under that it says The query cannot be represented graphically in the Diagram and Criteria Pane.

I have a question about event handling. Is it possible to detect field level data change in vb.net? i don't want my codes to be dependent on the the bound control's event to detect the change on the field value. I'm thinking there must be a better way (coming from a Delphi background). For example: a change on the Qty field will automatically trigger the event to compute the invoice detail Amount - (pseudo-case sample: Amount = Qty * UnitPrice).
In Delphi, every field is treated as an object with its own properties and events. So it's very easy to associate an event with it.
Example:

This program is very difficult for me, but I must get threw it or I cannot finish... What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. I cannot figure out how to change the data in a listbox. I'm being driven completely mad by vb.net, finding it very very complicated.
Ok I have two list boxes on a form that contain correlated data i.e. the first item in the first list box corresponds to the first item in the second list box.
Under the two list boxes I have two text boxes for data entry.
For Example :
LstTagDatabaseLoop LstTagDatabaseSource
TxtTagDatabaseLoop TxtTagDatabaseSource
I want to Add Update and Remove items from the list. If the user selects an item, I want the selected item in the other list to change to correspond. I also want the two text boxes to be udpated with the currently selected item.

however this invoked the selectedindexChanged sub umpteen dozen times and while in the end it did actually update the data, its obviously not the right way.
I found ListViews which perhaps is more appropriate but I couldn't get my head around it at all so returned to trying to use these listboxes. Is there a different object I should be using.
I'm finding vb.net to be too complicated for a hack programmer like myself...

I've been staring at this and can't seem to come up with a solution. I've tried several different methods that i found on the web but to no avail. I am trying to bind data from a text box on my form to a field in my database table. First of all I have created a DataSet, BindingSource and Table Adapter in the forms Design view, but I am having from there. Under the properties of each text box I have set the DataBindings (Text) to the field in the table under the forms instance and DataSet rather than the Projects Data Sources. I am very rusty at Visual Studio 2005 and that is all I have to work with.

I have data entries in my database that have a common field. For example:
account_id type user_id
1 new 1
2 old 3
3 new 1
4 old 1
I am using a query like this(mysql): SELECT account_id, type, user_id FROM table WHERE user_id = 1
This is just all theoretical. The problem that I am having with this is it is only returning the first result in this case account_id 1. How can I get it to find all the results with the user_id 1 because in the way I am thinking that it is failing is that it is finding only the first result and then ending?
