VS 2010 - How To Detect Field Level Data Change

I have a question about event handling. Is it possible to detect field level data change in vb.net? i don't want my codes to be dependent on the the bound control's event to detect the change on the field value. I'm thinking there must be a better way (coming from a Delphi background). For example: a change on the Qty field will automatically trigger the event to compute the invoice detail Amount - (pseudo-case sample: Amount = Qty * UnitPrice).
In Delphi, every field is treated as an object with its own properties and events. So it's very easy to associate an event with it.
Example:
procedure TfrmInvoice.qryInvDetQtyChange(Sender: TField);

inherited;
qryInvDetAmount.value := qryInvDetQty.AsInteger * qryInvDetUnitPrice.AsCurrency;

How can I achieve the same using vb.net?

I'm using a MS Access 2007 database. I modified the field definition of one of the fields in a table, it a text field and I change the maximum length from 40 to 150. I have a data source in my app that contains this table and many others. I refreshed the data source but the change didn't take affect. I went through configure option but the change still didn't take affect. It gives me this error,
The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.
If I add/delete a database field the data source is updated when I go through the configure process. I finally just deleted the table from my data source and then added it back.

I'm creating a basic text editing program that will be used for UCAS Personal Statements (probably not a unique idea but hey). It will be a basic text editor with no special text formatting to sit in line with the guidelines of UCAS (there is a character limit for personal statements).
What I want to do is have a save/load option (which is easy enough), however on the "Exit" function I want the program to detect text changes and alert the user that saving is recommended (ya know like when you close word and it asks if you want to save blah blah blah)

I have the following code to try and change a field in a Microsoft SQL database. I don't get any Exceptions when processing the code but I use the Microsoft SQL Management Studio to view the data before and after but the data does not change.

I have a combo box on my application (working with VB.net) called CmbAttendantstatus. I have sent the dropdownstyle = dropdownlist at the Properties level of the combobox.
There are 200 field types e.g;
Current Attendant
Ever Attendant
Never Attendant etc
The issue is I can only select one from the list, fine, but I want to be able to type the first letter on the combobox and it takes me to the nearest field type rather than looking through the entire drop list. For example I want Never Attendant, I just need to type N and the drop list takes me to anything starting from N and if I add E for example any field starting with NE shows up for selection. Presently, when the dropdownlist is selected you are not allowed to type anything...

I was just thinking if there is any component which monitors sound output. My intention is to recognize a particular sound coming out from my soundcard. I know its an issue about the driver of my sound card but is there a way I can get atleast noise level coming out of my speakers and maybe draw a graph and detect the peak at when the sound is played?

I am working on a carputer app, and it will be relatively basic with common tools. I am going to make an onscreen keyboard that fits the style of my app, but I want to make it a seperate application from the main app. All I want it to do is is have my keyboard become visible whenever I enter a text field of any application, whether it be programmed by me or a third-party app. Think about this in the way of a smart phone... Whenever you enter a textfield the system keyboard is displayed.

I thought i am doing fine with my project..The access level is fine.. when i login as "ADMIN". I can change the password.. But for other users, if i click save nothing happens but if i click it again it will save(In my savebutton event the txtbox is cleared if saved)

The Textbox_TextChanged event fires when a key is pressed or when text is pasted while cursor is in a text box.
Is there an event that fires on Textbox1.text="NewText"? How do I detect this?My reason for doing this is I would like to reformat text property automatically on assignment rather than do something like textbox.text=myreformat("Newtext").I can put code in validating or validated event but then I'd have to force focus/lostfocus to trigger one of those events.

Working with detailed forms that is displaying a row form a table adapter, is it possible to detect that a change has been made to a database field when the form is closed?
I.e. if a change has been made I need to ensure that an update is performed before the form actually closes.

I'm trying to figure out some simple code to detect when a single pixel changes color at a location I choose -anywhere- on the screen (ex. 100,100). Maybe with just a msgbox popup when it changes.
The visual basic program will just be hidden and running in the background.
I should be able program the rest of the program around it, I just need the detection part. That is where I am stumped.

I'm pulling data from my DB, adding it to a DataTable and binding that DataTable to my DataGridView. Before I bind the data, I need to change/remove some data. When I loop through the rows and use a Select Case, just for this column, it doesn't work. But if I use an If, it works fine. [Code] In the example above, the "Pass_Flag" row works just fine, but the "FailureCD" does not. But after the Select, with the If statement, it works. In the example, I'm casting the row as a string first and then an integer. I tried casting to an integer in the select case and it doesn't work either.

I'm trying to change the value of a field, and can't get it to work. I'm using the example they gave of how to read through a CSV file, looking and displaying each field. Everything works OK, and after I change the value it displays the new value, but when I look at the file I've created, it has the old value. I have created a simple program which uses a two tier structure of SQL Tables.At the top level, one record holds the date of the activities and linked to it using its primary key as a foreign key, three subordinate tables hold time stamped records.The issue I have been unable to solve is that before adding any of the lower level records for a given date, a newly added top level record must be saved to the database.Doing this manually is simple - but can I rely on my users to remember to do this before they start plugging in the lower level data?I thought not, so I am looking to save the top level automatically.I've failed miserably but I refuse to believe that it's not possible.
