Right now im using code to count the instances of certain letters in column named "status" the problem is i use a filter to filter them by the date they were entered, but the counter gets ALL the instances in the DB not just the ones displayed in the datagridview.[code]...

I have so many form to manage. I want to count the instances of a particular form. I would like to make a simple code that counts the top three most recurring lines/ text in a txt file then saves that line/ text to another text file (this in turn will be read into AutoCAD's variable system).Forgetting the AutoCAD part which I can manage how do I in VB.net save the 3 most recurring lines of text each to its own text file see example below:

My problem is an error that states Variable 'count' hides a variable in an enclosing block. Here is my project and my code so far:
1. Write a Visual Basic Console Application which executes a Do-While loop repetitively. Each time the Do-While loop executes input a String value, count and display the number of occurrences of the letters �a�, �b�, �c�, �d� and �e�. Use at least one Select Case statement inside your Do-While loop. For example, suppose during one execution of the Do-While loop you input the following String value: �My mother is a great lady!�. Your program should input this value into a String variable, compute the number of times each of the letters �a�, �b�, �c�, �d� and �e� occurs and output the results: a � 3, b � 0, c � 0, d � 1, and e � 2. My only problem is that when I double click a cell in the 3rd or 4th column (those where I want uppercase letters) and then one in the 2nd column, the text in the cell in the 2nd column is showed in uppercase letters too.
Note: It only shows the already present letters in uppercase. If I type extra letters they will get normal font (so lowercase if I don't use shift or caps lock, and uppercase if I do use shift or caps lock). If I don't type any letters and unselect the cell the text changes back to as it was before selecting.
If I double click another cell in the 2nd column (after i clicked one in the 3rd or 4th column and then one in the 2nd column), the present text stays the same, so it don't get showed in uppercase letters.

I have a project where I am using a listview to display a data received through XML. One of the columns called "STATUS" display only 2 text data, either "ON" or "OFF". I would like to know how to count how many times the word "ON" it is apearing in that column and same for the word "OFF".
