i have a small prog to test the instances when i run another instance then i want to count it, ex. i open sample.exe this should be 1 in label and i open another instance of sample.exe this should be 2 in label how can i do this
i try this code but the instances count are not working
Dim count As Integer = My.Application.OpenForms.Count()
Label1.Text = count
I have an exe that runs from the server. The instances are shown on the server. So the questionis how can I get the following code to count the instances on the server. HTML Dim oProcess As Process Dim nCount As Integer = 0 For Each oProcess In System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("MSTP") nCount = nCount + 1 Next (MSTP is the name of the application's exe.)
Right now im using code to count the instances of certain letters in column named "status" the problem is i use a filter to filter them by the date they were entered, but the counter gets ALL the instances in the DB not just the ones displayed in the datagridview.[code]...
I have so many form to manage. I want to count the instances of a particular form. For example, if I show my form1 two times then there must be a counter for my form1 and if I also shown my form2 another counter for form2.I want to do this to minimize the instances of forms to be shown so that my resources will not burden to much.I want my code to be generic so that I can easily call it for my other forms.
I would like to make a simple code that counts the top three most recurring lines/ text in a txt file then saves that line/ text to another text file (this in turn will be read into AutoCAD's variable system).Forgetting the AutoCAD part which I can manage how do I in VB.net save the 3 most recurring lines of text each to its own text file see example below:
Text file to be read reads as follows:
APG BTR VTS
[code]....
The VB.net program would then save the text VTS to mostused.txt BTR to 2ndmostused.txt and APG to 3rdmostused.txt?
I know there is a function Contains that returns true if string has a certain substing in it. But is there a function that returns the count of instances of that substring inside another string.
I am going to have a series of numbers, I want to count how many times each unique number exists in the results. For example if I have this string" "1, 2, 3, 5, 3, 7, 1" I want to know the number 1 appears 2 times, the number 2 appears 1 time, the number 3 appears 2 times, the number 5 appears 1 time, and the number 7 appears 1 time.I want to load this up into a datagrid each unique number will be stored in a column named acct the number of times the number appeared in the string will be stored in a column named numref?
Which is the best way to store application and user settings of an application running with multiple instances? My problem is that using the vb's "Application Settings" one instance would overwrite the other one.I want to identify each instance with a number passed via command line argument. I could use this number to identify the appropriate settings of the running instance, but I see in a local INI o XML file a better way to handle that.
How can I check for multiple instances of my visual basic application? When the user runs the application, I want to know how many instances are already open.
I have an application which the user can open multiple instances on the same machine. However, a section of the app would have sync problems if more than 1 instance has control over it. This is where I thought of transferring control, or sharing, between them. What should I be looking into?
They would have to be able to identify which one of them has control and to send text information over. I thought IPC or Named Pipes could do the trick, but I'm unfamiliar with them and examples seem to indicate only a single server will work. Here, I have multiple instances of the same app and every one of them needs to be able to listen for that request for control.
i have an multi-threading applicaton. so I am using system.threading.thread class to create thread. each threads call its own class and inside each class i am accessing webservices. I need to have status returned from each webservice. thats why I defined a shared property as list of generic object which will be updated within each class called its thread. but I have an hesitation that when I run application on the server. this shared object will be used by all instances of web application. Is it true or shared properties is used only for its own instance?
I made a simple "restarter" app... However, I need to close multiple instances of an application. For example, if I have three windows of paint, or three windows of Word open, how do I check if it is still open before I open a new instance?
I am having an applciation running in system tray notification area, but the problem is that although I exit the application the icon is still there, when I point my mouse near notification area it's gone as it should be when I clicked on exit. I guess it is because my mouse position makes the area to refresh, if so, how can I do it inside my application to avoid having my useless icon in there?
I have set the "Make single instance application" check box.And when my application version is 1.0.0.0 for example, it is OK and won't load multiple instances. But when I create a new version, for example 1.0.0.1, then I can run 2 instances of my application, when the 1st instance is 1.0.0.0 and the second instance is 1.0.0.1.What should I do to prevent this?
I made my program and now I just need to add in the serial and trial part of the application. I know the application must connect to the host and go to a txtfile. How would i do the trial and serial. Also If the serial is already activated I want the application to reject that Serial and Count how many times they entered in a wrong serial.
I am programming a chat like application using Tcp. Now I have a probem. I am going to have loads and loads of data being transferred so I will have to use 4 seperate ports.[code...]
My problem is for me to use a maximum of 4 ports all together transferring data from the client(s) to the server(s) I will need 4 clients and 4 servers. I need to open 4 instances of 4 clients. I was going to put a client in a form and then when the client is running it creates 4 instances of that form but than there would be too much confusion going on. I think there my be a way to use Classes instead of forms.
My ultimate goal is to get a list of PIDs and have a user select 1 of them. For example: the process image name is program.exe. The application name varies for each instance the program.exe is run, and therefor each application name has its own PID associated with it. By application name I mean the Task name under the Applications tab of Windows Task Manager. Another issue I face is that some systems run x64, so the name is no longer program.exe but program.exe*32
So my issue is, how do I search for program.exe, or on x64 platforms program.exe*32, and if there are multiple instances of program.exe/program.exe*32 running, how can I get a list of PIDs for each and associated them with the application name as the Task name under the Applications tab of Windows Task Manager.that might sound a bit confusing! So if it is, please let me know and I will try to explain more. Any reference guides or example code would be greatly appriciated as I have only used the "System.Diagnostics" but once.
Is it possible to create instances of controls on a form ? Of course I mean visually , not just by code. After all, these languages define themselves as "Visual" so they should provide that possibility. It is important for the instances to be visible during design time because otherwise we could only guess where those controls might "land". Nevertheless , I have the feeling this is not possible in VB .NET but still I thought I should ask first ...
If I declare and instantiate an instance of class B within class A, how do I make instances of class A member objects/variables accessible from class B?
I have 30 instances of the same form running. Video array with different video on each. Each form is named "oneForm". I'm looking for a way to close all forms with one click. I have found that I can hide the forms no problem like this.
for each killfrm as form in my.application.openforms if killfrm.name = "oneForm" then killfrm.hide()
I have been trying to create good multithreading programs and it is not working well considering the use of global variables, local variables etc and thread safe controls. I have not found a good way of doing it since it seemed to be not as efficient as just running it on a single thread.
The program accesses facebook and twitter api, parses etc. and I am wondering if I can just create new tasks and map the program project file and fire new instances of the project. Someone this using the taskfactory in 2010 but I thought this was just the same as the threadpool. on this: create windows services and set them to run on task scheduler??
Im fetching data from an access db, filtered by date and an ID. The data is then charted on a form (form1).
I want to be able to "duplicate" the form so that the data that is shown on form1 is shown on a different form. That forms data is not supposed to change when I change the data on the first form.
So far Ive put som code in a contextmenustrip that opens another form1, but the chart is not showing on that form at all.
I'm thinking that I'm going about this the wrong way so I thought I'd ask you guys what you think I should do?
A little info: When Form1 opens up, it loops through selected dates in a listbox, querying each date. This takes a little time, so I decided to put the data in a dataset on form_load, and then do the drawing from the dataset on form_paint, thus not having to query the database each time the form needs repainting. why the second (or third, fourth etc) form1 doesnt display the chart?
Within the subroutine, I am counting the number of open Forms and dividing the bounds of the screen by the number of open forms everytime a button is clicked.his gives me a way to Size each video box perfectly according to the number of forms open. This is where I have found a problem. The size of the new window only sizes the newly opened on and will not resize the ones that are already open. I will give an example of my subroutine.Note: Because of the nature of my program, I am not allowed to take any code out of the work zone and so I will be summarizing what I am doing rather than showing the actual code.
Private videoShow (byval videoName, byval videoIp) dim videoForm as new form videoForm.size = New Drawing.Size
I currently have a sofware with 80 customers. All share the same database structure, when data are differents. We got 5 database for each customer.Today, we have named instances, so the program is accessing to Bdd with something like :
Connect to 127.0.0.1/CUSTOMER1 select * from base1..table1
Now, we need to change, we got many instances. The idea is to have unique SQLSERVER instance, obviously i want to avoid changing the code (VB.NET).Just tried to play with schemas and users, seems to be an option, but since the schema is under the database, in can't make it works :
Connect to 127.0.0.1/GLOBAL_INSTANCE as specific user (customer1) select * from base1..table1 -> error @ this point
When THIS works :
Connect to 127.0.0.1/GLOBAL_INSTANCE as specific user (customer1) Use Base1 select * from base1..table1 / or select * from table1
I can easily script some user or schema creation, and change connection strings for all customers, but i can't really change All requests: huge number.
I'm having a lot of trouble finding a solution to my problem, and its probably because I don't know exactly how to ask the right question - can anyone here point me in the right direction?
Have a VB.net application that installs initially from CD and then when the user gets into the internet the application updates. In order to better support problems with this application is has been suggested in the past to uninstall it and do a fresh re-install. However, in investigation it was determined that the uninstall does not consider all installed objects and does not uninstall the CD install. Can the uninstall functionality be modified to catch the other instances of this application and also uninstall them?
I am making the simple timer module which will display time in count down format as if user want 1 hour 3 mins and 30 sec so it will count in revers. I have almost half code done but after trying the all tricks and logic I didn't got any thing the out put is not proper as which I want.
The code is as follows Public Class Form1 Public hh As Integer Public mm As Integer Public ss As Integer Public totalsec As Integer [Code] .....
