Create Excel VBA Objects With The Command (Dim X As Matrix)
Aug 27, 2010
just hoping that someone may be able to point me to some information where I can create VBA objects in vb.net (I am using VS2008). For example, I would like to create a new object in VBA with the command (Dim x as Matrix) where 'Matrix' is an object with various properties and methods.
My objective is to select specific positions in a moving matrix of a fix range with VBA for Excel 2003. The fix range is about 5 or so columns wide and has a few thousand rows. I select a matrix of 5 to 7 rows and same number of columns. I choose a specific position number in this matrix, write that number in another sheet and move on the next matrix just below where I do the same, and this until the last line of the range.
I've tried to write a loop function but this seems to take a lot of execution time.
I want to create a (3n*7) Matrix in python through Iteration, I did this in VB.Net and it worked but it gives me some challenge in Python as this a new language to me. n can be the number of Iterations to build up the matrix, i.e. ; if u iterated 3 times, the matrix will be a 9*7 matrix. Here is how I did it in VB.Net. :
I am trying to read the matrix (see this link [URL]
This matrix will be in text based file. How can I read this file and create a matrix and fill it in my code. The other question I have is that the matrix has first row and column with value as char and rest values are in integer, how can I take care of this?
I'm confused with this piece of code listed below. This code calls the update method of the dataadapter object to save the changes made to the dataSETback to the database itself. What I don't understand about this code is that it creates an update command(cmdUpdate), insert command (cmdInsert) and delete command (cmdDelete). My understanding is that the update method saves the changes back to the database. So I don't understand why the author creates these additional commands.
I was just curious as to whether after you have added all of the Parameters to the SQL Command Parameters Collection. Is there a convenient way to iterate or loop through the Parameters and make Assignments to the SQL Command Parameters Values Property?
My app currently uses both SQLExpress and SQLCE, depending on the choice of the user.In my database class I have non query command objects for the CE connection and non query command objects for the express version.
Essentially, this is duplicating code as Parameters.Add etc. has to be repeated on both objects. Is there a way just to add do it once on a common object?
Dim MyConnection As SqlConnection Dim MyCEConnection As SqlCeConnection Dim MyNQCommand As SqlCommand Dim MyCENQCommand As SqlCeCommand
I'm trying to put together a quick example for another thread about treeviews, and I'm getting a problem when I have a recursive routine, getting the message.
Quote:
There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first.
I'm a tad confused as I am explicitly creating a new command every time through the loop, so I'm not sure (unless its something ADO is doing behind the scenes) how the datareaders higher up the tree are interfering.
Here's my code :
Private Sub SetupChildren(ByVal ParentID As Integer, ByRef ParentNode As TreeNode) Dim MyCommand As New SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM Groups WHERE ParentGroup=@ParentGroup", m_myConnection)
[Code]...
Obviously I could close the data reader down before calling the next level of recursion but it would prevent the code continuing the loop at the current level when it had finished processing children.
I need two seperate lists, which every item is Integer, String, Bitmap - and one which every item is Integer, String String. However I don't know how to do this, or even where to look - I've googled for custom objects and custom object lists. What I'm trying to do is this.Custom Object1 is Integer, String, Bitmap Custom Object2 is Integer, String, String
In one thread I'll be adding items to List1(Of Object1), and processing them, and adding the results to List2(Of Object2), however I need to be able from other threads to look at the list and say only give me the items where Integer = (my thread ID), is this possible? Any help, or even links to information that would be relevant to this request would be helpful?
I have the following code below in which I have a class with some class level Excel objects defined. When I call excelModule.Test from another class all these Excel objects are getting created and I can see an Excel instance in Task manager.
Do we have unload event for class to release these objects? Module excelModule Public myRange As Excel.Range
Anyone know of some code out there that does this already? I have a bunch of pages with data grids on them in an admin website they want to export them to Excel, was hoping someone had this written already
As it is right now I have a bit of code that kind of looks like this (a little paraphrased but Im sure you get the idea)[code]I thought for sure the above would work but it still seems that I am missing something, when I open the excel sheet nothing was printed. This would cut down the lines of code that I have in half easily, so I would love to find a solution for this [code]But the excel sheets still do not update with the new information.
I have created a COM Object via VB .NET and exposed some functions that I wish to call in Excel using VBA. I am currently trying to pass an array of objects as a result to VBA but Excel is complaining the following:
'Function or interface marked as restricted, or the function uses an automation type not supported in Visual Basic.'
I have looked around on the internet and have seen similar issues but not to one I am trying to do.My VB .NET function, which I wish to call in Excel is declared as follows:
Public Function CallArray(ByVal serviceName As String, _ ByVal effectiveDate As String, ByVal serviceParams() As System.Object, ByRef ArrayRes() As System.Object) As System.Boolean
VBA is complaining about the System.Objects my question is how the heck are you supposed to pass and return arrays from .NET to VBA. Also the data that will be in the ArrayRes() is mixed type, its not just strings etc, its an array of arrays that can contain strings, integers doubles etc.I chose VB .NET because I assumed it would be possible to map to VBA easier.if System. Object and Arrays in VB .NET is not the way, ie maybe theres another way via collections or lists, then Im open to that. I just need to get this data into VBA.Also I could move over to C# if needs be.
I need to migrate from Excel 2003 VBA to Excel 2007 VBA. When Microsoft introduced Excel 2007 it removed many objects from the previous versions and added some new objects. Also it hid some properties of particular objects. These hidden properties can be viewed by going to the object browser, right clicking any object and selecting "Show Hidden Members". My problem is I need to access these hidden properties. Is there any way I can access these properties. I can successfully migrate from Excel 2003 VBa to Excel 2007 VBA with the same functionality?
If I have a large number of classes, each similar to the other in certain aspects (they all share a common base class, but each does things differently), and I need to create Windows forms for each to allow easy changing of their values through a GUI? Create one matching form for each object in VS' forms designer, Or Use code to create the forms dynamically at runtime.
#2 makes the most sense to me, because a lot of these objects will share very common features of the form, notably "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. But one object might need to draw a textbox on the form while another might need to draw a combobox. Not to mention, if I want to put icons on the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons, I'd have to do this for each copy of the form in designer, and that sounds like it could get out of hand quickly. But is drawing forms through code sane? VS' forms designer is pretty sophisticated and designed to make life easier. Am I wise to consider ignoring its functionality and diving into the trench warfare of forms design through code? Or are there examples of automating form creation based on an existing object's properties?
I have read some of the other posts on this and seem to be a little different than my situation. Trying to print out some reports into an excel document on the clients machine - of course it works fine on my local (heard that before right). I went in and set my references Ms.Office.Core and Ms.Office.Interop.Excel to 'Copy Local' = True so the .dll are in the servers bin folder.
I have a website. In it, I have a button which will export some data from a SQL database to Excel. I want to open an excel workbook on the client and paste the data there. This all works fine locally, but when i publish it, I get this error:ActiveX component can't create object.[code]Have searched the net, and it seems the problem is permission related. Can anyone explain to me how to configure my server so that I can use clientside Excel?
I am using vb .net and office 2007 with Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application loaded in a vb net project.I have this excel file filled with buttons and drop down objects... i need to change the value of the drop downs and then click a button, all this inside vb .net.I have my workbooks, sheets and ranges all setup, i just need a headstart to, for example, change a drop down value, to say... item number 2.
how to open excel with switches using vb.net, similar to what "Run.." does in Windows.. eg: this is what you would put in the "Run" ComboBox : excel.exe /r "C:ook.xls"
I am trying to create a property for objects, though I am not sure if that is what it is called. For example, PictureBox.Image instead of Image I want to use my own property.
I use serializer classes for storing data and each class can hold an array of objects for the same class which is a key feature of the class. I declare this array as so:
myClassObjects(1000) as myClass
My question is- can I declare the array as an arraylist so I can sort and count objects in the array(list) quicker and easier and are there any drawbacks to taking this approach?
I want to make pictureboxes move from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen (easy) when they reach the bottom I want them to cease to exist (do-able). But i want to create new ones that keep coming from the top. create an endless amount of pictureboxes while running the program?
I am creating a game which include guns and bullets and I created everything. I want to have a shorter code which I am going to create a array of objects which are the bullets. Can someone help me? In VB6 it's possible to create an array of objects but I am having a hard time for VB 2008.
I see the examples where I can export a table into an Excel Worksheet by using SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;Database=C:Book1.xls].[Sheet1] FROM [MyTable] But I can only use [MyTable] if it is a binding source correct? What i would like to do is something like:
I want to add some ADD-IN command buttons to Excel when it opens. I can do this using VBA within Excel by code like Application.CommandBars etc..However I want to do this in VBNET to control Excel but don't see anything like EXCEL.APPICATION.COMMANDBARS in the Object Browser? I've searched online but am confused by references to 'VSTO' or uising 'RIBBONS' or 'OFFICE.CORE'..
