I have a DevExpress GridView whose cells are painted with a random color based on some condition. Now each color has a meaning and I want to show it as a legend. Number of colors used for each condition may vary.How can I do this. I'm using DevExpress 2009 Vol2, and .Net framework - 2.0 and WinForms?

View 1 RepliesI have a Devexpress Gridview that is linked to a delete, fetch and update stored procedure. The problem I am having is that when I run my program, select a row in the grid and press delete it fires the event multiple times. Specifically it deletes the selected row and then I re-fetch the data so the focus returns to the first row. Which is what I want.
Unfortunately it starts at the beginning of my list and goes down it row by row deleting each row it comes to. It then continues several more times after the rows are deleted. I know this because for each deleted row it asks me if I want to delete it. If I say no then the rows appear to disappear until I manually refresh it after the deleting is done. To make this even more random the second row always reappears after I manually refresh the grid.

It works great except I was have an area where I allow the user to choose which columns they want visible or invisible. I have a dynamically-created GridView which to which I'm attaching a handler using the AddHandler command. The problem is that when I try to refer to sender.rows within that function, it won't do anything because it says that sender.rows.count = 0. I've done enough dynamic form creation that I'm pretty sure that I'm creating the controls, binding them, and adding the handler at the proper points during the page init/load load_complete. Also, I have nearly the exact same code-behind on another form that is not dynamic, and it is able to access the values in the rows.
Considering that the RowCommand event is firing, it's clear that I'm clicking on a row. For some reason it's just not in scope for the handler event. Background: What I really want to do is access the values that are databound to the row. I'm creating a SQLCommand and binding that to the dynamic grid, and I would prefer to talk to the grid's datasource, but that doesn't seem to be possible. Perhaps I'm missing something, but for now it seems that reading the values from the GridView (which I hate doing) is the only thing that works.

View 8 RepliesI'm creating a dynamic gridview in vb.net using a connected sql database. Everything works fine except 1 thing: when i click the update command, the event just won't fire no matter what I do. the gridview goes into edit mode and the cancel button works fine. This has cost me over 2 days of googling but none of the solutions work. I used breakpoints to check if the code was executed, but it wasn't. If anybody has any experience in this:I believe the problem lies in the addhandler but it doesn't give any errors.I forgot to mention that the sql command was a test and sets the data in that field to 15, now it's 10, it works when i use a normal button or a static gridview.

I have a web page with 5 checkboxes and 2 textboxes per checkbox. When the user checks one or more checkboxes the corresponding textboxes become enalbed for UI. I need to insure that the input for the textboxes is an integer-that I will do with a validators. There is a gridView on the same page. When the user checks one or more checkboxes the 2 columns of the gridView rows become active for input through enabled textboxes.
There are 4 columns in the grid. The minimum number of rows enabled are 2 and the maximum are 26. The UI for the grid's textbox input is numbers. Those numbers have to be equal to or less than the total. How do I validate UI of numbers(integers) into the grid's dynamically generated textboxes and then add the total and compare it to the alloted total? I prefer to do this with the code behind - using VB.NET - rather than with ASP.NET or absolutely not javascript.
I have a page which has a GridView on it, which is populated from a database. Some of the columns in the GridView have text boxes, as well as Checkboxes.When the user saves the page, the page may error if they have not entered their data correctly. At this point, I need to re-display what they have entered already so they can simply make the correction instead of having to change everything from scratch again.

View 1 RepliesI have a For Each block loops through a list of objects, the objects are all instances of a single custom class I have made which has multiple properties.The logic used in this block uses a property of the custom class to do a set action, is it possible to dynamically supply which property it uses in the logic? This will be more efficient and prevent me from having to create this logic over for each property of the custom class.My best guess was that maybe it is possible with reflection, however my searches into reflection have left me more confused.

I'm assuming the best method would be a gridview but it would involve two levels of grouping. Other requirements would be be to accept a quantity and then calculate the total price. Can anyone point me to some good books or websites that explain creating custom grid views like this (or maybe a better method than using gridview, I'm open to whatever). How can I bind the GridView so that one row is equivalent to one item in my MyListOfObjects list, and so that the data will populate and persist across page loads or postbacks? I've never done custom databinding like this before, so a full explanation would be very helpful. All the tutorials I've come across so far only talk about using GridViews directly with Database query results, and that's not what I need.
