Now I want to make the result column red if it's values is less than the "LOW" columns value or if it's value is greater than the "HI" columns value. View 4 RepliesI have a datagridview and all its columns are set to Double Datatype. The problem is when I changed the value of cell and try to sort the column, it shows me an error "Object must be of type Double." I check each cell but all its values are number and I can sort all the columns before I edit one cell. But when I tried to change the value of only one cell and sort the columns, the errors will show. Its weird because I only removed 1 digit of the cell value and I cant sort at all.

I created a DataGridView called grid_LivingBenefits.Each time a cell is going to be edited, the program will validate that cell.Now, I have two subroutines that take care of that validation.these are: ValidateDataType() and ValidatePrimaryKey()
at the DataGridView CellBeginEdit, the program checks for which cell the user is editing.at the DatagridView CellEndEdit, the program calls the subroutines for validation. If an input is invalid, I want the program to show an errorProvider on that cell.I used MessageBoxes first to check whether the validations are working and I got no problem there. but when I tried to use errorprovider instead of a messagebox, there's a blue zigzag line under the grid_LivingBenefits.CurrentCell

I have a custom datagridview. I have to set focus to the cell(0,0) of that datagridview when it got focus.I have tryed the following code:

in the GotFocus event of that datagridview.But when i run and try to enter some text in a cell, then press the DOWN button to go to the next cell but there is a NullReferenceException.

View 4 RepliesI am using a Thread object to perform a function. This function performs a task and displays its progress in the gridview (like adding rows changing text etc )
The reason I am using a thread for this function is that there is a cancel button on the form. While the task is in progress, user can click on cancel to abort it.

The function works fine and thread is completed. But calling any method of datagridview after thread is completed ( outside the worker thread ) generates an error- "Error creating window handle".
That's probably because i am not using the invoke method of datagridview for calling its methods or readingwriting properties Do i have to create separate delegates for all the methods properties used in the function ( worker thread)

They are not similar enough to use just one form and change things programatically so I would like to create a "template" and add several copies of it into my project. My first attempts have failed miserably, ending up with lots of "conflicts" and "duplicate items".
So, how should I save a form from my existing project in such a way that I can then load in multiple copies (giving them suitably different names) without having name conflicts?

I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

View 5 RepliesThe problem is that if you never enter anything into a cell for a new row then that cell is never validated. This is a problem because I have columns that should not be null. I am doing the check in the row level validation and storing the information about which cells are empty that should not be empty. The row level validation works fine and the row level validation error indicator goes on,(red exclamation mark at the beginning of the row) but I also need a visual indicator on the individual cells that are in error.
I am thinking that setting the HasError property for the cells that are in error should cause them to display n error style (the default red border). Is there a way to this this either from XAML (perferably) or from code?Alternatively I could cause those cells to re-validate when the row editing is finished. Does anyone know how to do this?
I am making a application that manages room availability in a building.I have seen a similar function in another application that I'm trying to duplicate. I want to have a control, which I assume is the DataGridView that shows the room numbers on the left hand side, and then on the right it shows a box in that room numbers row for every day that the room is occupied. If it is occupied for more than one day, the box is joined.What control are they using? How do I link one row cell across multiple columns?

An integral part of the program that i'm working on is a DataGrid which I am filling from three different queries, based on the user's input. The Grid properties are coded with specific requirements for each of the queries. I have two simple (hopefully) problems.
1) There is no scroll bar on the grid and I can't find a property or event that will allow me to add the Vertical Scroll Bar. How do I do that.
2) The grids contain only four columns each. I want the user to be able to click on a cell and populate four string variables.

Yet the question is still open...why didn't the code in the first example work? Do you have to declare every new row of data? What happens when you have lots of rows of database data?
Error Dropdownlist has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value I have been banging my head over this error for about a week now. I have searched posted on other forums and still no solution to my issue. I have seen the FindControl being suggested but do not know how to implement this.
Basically I have 2 webmethods that reference 2 datasets which then populate my ajax cascading dropdownlist. In insertmode they work great however in editmode i get the above error.I have removed the selectedvalue and added
DataSource='<%# Bind("intRoom") which works sort of except for the fact that when you click edit it does not retain the original value of that particular record. Other things i have tried are as following:adding the items to the itemcollection of the dropdownlist turning appenddataitems to true on also tried to use the findcontrol but dont understand that punching my monitor and slamming my keyboard
Now I know i could get this to work by using a sqldatasource with some t-sql to get my dropdownlist to work however I thought by reusing my webmethods my code would be more professional. So if there is anyone out there that can help me understand why the value for my dropdownlist is not being populated or does not exist during gridview editing Also will post code if asked not sure what you would like to see rather than posting everything.
