this is more of a confirmation than a question. Need to make sure an already supplied float is treated as a currency value, ie: 123.3 is displayed as 123.30 In VBA you would have just used the CCur() function (yes I am new to VB.net) but I cannot find an equivalent function in VB.net, only the use of the Decimal.ToString() method to do this and for this to work you need to cast the decimal value to 2 floating points using the Decimal.Round method first, ie:
Dim listPrice As Decimal = prow("listprice") listPrice = Decimal.Round(listPrice, 2).ToString("f2")
Just need to know this would be the normal practise in VB.net for achieving my goal.
I want to write a VBA program, where i want to convert the currency notes into coins. I made a userform with one label, one textbox and one command button. Simply i want to write the codes under command button and want to run the program. I am trying to create a currency converter that will convert currency. I have a text box to enter the amount and 2 combo boxes to choose which currency you are converting from and to.
I am using a webservice site XML that contains the conversions.
The problem is I cannot get the display to work properly.
a user will enter a number, n, which ranges from 1 to 30. they will also enter a "P" or an "S" (sum or product). depending on which was selected, it will calculate the sum or product of the numbers from 1 to n.i'm having a conversion error on line 5 stating "Conversion from string "S" to type 'Double' is not valid." I'm creating a program in VB.net that does the following:At a high level I receive a file in email, put the attachment in a monitored folder, import the text file to excel, format the excel, and then email the excel file to a list of recipients.
Here is my plan:
Completed: Outlook VBA to monitor all incoming email for specific message. Once message is received drop attached .txt file in a specific network folder.
Completed: (VB.net) Monitor folder, when text file is added begin processing
Not Complete: (VB.net) Import text file to Excel
Not Complete: (VB.net) Format Excel Text file.(add in a row of data, format column headers with color/size, add some blank columns, add data validation to some of the blank columns that allow drop down selections)
Completed: (VB.net) Save file.
Completed: (VB.net) Send file to list of recipients.
Obviously the items above that are not complete are the bulk of the work, but I wanted to get some advice on what some of you think would be the best way to approach something like this. The import and formatting of the file are causing me some problems because I just can't decide what would be the most efficient way to do this.
The way stated above. Import to excel -> format Having a template excel that contains all of the formatting already done for me and attempting to transition the data to this document (no clue if/how I can do this). Is it even feasible? Have the template already created and then import the text file to a new excel file, then transition that data to the excel template?
Something I thought about, in terms of formatting the document, was to record a macro of me doing all of the formatting that I'm going to need and then attempt to convert that macro into my vb.net code, but I'm not sure if that will work. I will need to verify that the text file comes in the EXACT format every time correct?
Here's 2 questions that I hope someone can help me on. This is in VB.net. I keep on getting this error 'java.io.bufferedInputstream.count is not accessible in this context because it is 'Protected Friend'. Does anyone know how to fix this error?
The other errors i get are "Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'Val' accepts this number of arguments". I have listed below the code that I have coverted from Java. Where is my mistake?'the underlined areas are where it is giving me errors.
I just had a quick question about formating in currency in Visual Basic 2010 express. I already understand how to get it to work during runtime using the FormatCurrency feature, but I am wondering if there is a method to do it so that the user's input becomes currency instantly? (basically, is there a way to make the textbox always display as currency, rather than as a weird decimal?)
I want to be able to fetch a currency value from a website (that must be logged into) and display it as well as perform some operators on it. I'm fairly new to VB.Net so I'm having trouble figuring it out.

I created a program Using ListBoxes and ComboBoxes. The program has the user selecting items from a diner menu and then calculating the cost. The problem i'm getting is the calculations aren't coming out right. I keep getting whole numbers instead of the actual price.

Here is my code...

I want to format several textboxes so that they would accept a decimal number like 2356.90. Now, let me first describe to you how I designed the designers view.. or rather I am going to attach what I did.
Ok... first the textbox SUM OF THE BILLS i would want to display two decimal point places.. so that when a person clicks the click for sum button, it calculates the sum of the bills and places it in the textbox. I got this code so far...

[Code]....
Everything was fine and it was running ok but when i added the code for the format of the textbox I suddenly got that error.
