how to do programs in Visual Basic 2010 (It's a Currency Converter/Import Duty Calculator) and I've come across a few problems which are listed below.Basically the project is like this:I'm trying to create a program which converts Hadean pounds, shillings and pence into British Pounds and Pence before it transfers to a form which calculates Import Duty and VAT, after which it gives the final price. So far, I've created a program which is made up of 2 forms and a Splash Screen. The information listed below is for those who want to know more about what I'm trying to do.Once the Hadean price has been converted to Sterling additional import duties and VAT must be added to the Sterling price. Thus control will pass to a 2nd form where importation duty is added. Depending on the method of importation the followig duty should be added to the Sterling price:
i have a list with dollar amounts that are strings. there are 8 separate dollar amount fields. amt1, amt2, amt3, amt4, amt5, amt6, amt7, amt8. i want to find out which amount is the largest. how would i convert each string amount to currency? i was thinking something like this:
Decimal.Parse(row("AMT1")) the string is in this format: $1,000.00
I am trying to convert "-10,00" from a string into a currency using the Swedish culture. Here is my code: ByVal ci As System.Globalization.CultureInfo("sv-SE") Convert.ToDecimal("-10,00").ToString("C", ci) The output from the above code is: -1.000,00 kr, which is wrong. It should be -10,00 kr. Is there anything wrong with my approach?
The solution is to pass the cultureInfo into the ToDecimal function as a second parameter. ByVal ci As System.Globalization.CultureInfo("sv-SE") Convert.ToDecimal("-10,00", ci).ToString("C", ci)
will convert a string containing a decimal value to a nicely formatted currency value. Is there anyway to do this without first converting the string value to a decimal?
Need to get this done: To have just ONE cell that is defined in a dropdown list with several (various) countries currencies, and each time when I choose a currency on this dropdown, EVERY cell in my worksheet which has a figure formatted with CURRENCY will automatically turn into that currency selected only in that dropdown cell. I have imagined whether if there was a solution, that the monetary cells do not necessarily have to be first in CURRENCY format, or do they have to? Anyway, I do nt know how to accomplish this, Without the solution, I have still at this time just set all the cells with monetary amounts in simple NUMBER format, ie. no CURRENCY SYMBOL at all, till I find a solution ..
I was trying to create a custom currency control text box, but I am getting an error that I don't understand.I am getting the following error message when I use it with databinding:"Object of type 'System.EventHandler' cannot be converted to type
I need to create a control for input a currecncies to a field. I'm planning to use a Textbox.
This is the format of the text box for currencies:
"XXXXXXXX.XX"
the dot "." must be fixed in the textbox and it should be loaded with the textbox. Furthermroe i have plans to code eachtime a user enters a number it should print the numbers from Right ot left.
eg: When user enters Number 1234.34
When the user enter these number they should display them as:
when user enters 1
0000.01
when the user enters 2:
0000.12
when the user enter 3:0001.23
When the user enters 4:
0012.34
When the user enters 3:0123.43
When the user enters 4:(after entering all digits in the number)1234.34
Could any one give a couple of ideas how to creat these kind of boxes?
I was thinking about creating a custom control (a Textbox) but still i need to have a the above format in the textbox!
this is more of a confirmation than a question. Need to make sure an already supplied float is treated as a currency value, ie: 123.3 is displayed as 123.30 In VBA you would have just used the CCur() function (yes I am new to VB.net) but I cannot find an equivalent function in VB.net, only the use of the Decimal.ToString() method to do this and for this to work you need to cast the decimal value to 2 floating points using the Decimal.Round method first, ie:
Dim listPrice As Decimal = prow("listprice") listPrice = Decimal.Round(listPrice, 2).ToString("f2")
Just need to know this would be the normal practise in VB.net for achieving my goal.
I just had a quick question about formating in currency in Visual Basic 2010 express. I already understand how to get it to work during runtime using the FormatCurrency feature, but I am wondering if there is a method to do it so that the user's input becomes currency instantly? (basically, is there a way to make the textbox always display as currency, rather than as a weird decimal?)
I want to be able to fetch a currency value from a website (that must be logged into) and display it as well as perform some operators on it. I'm fairly new to VB.Net so I'm having trouble figuring it out.

I have a form which has a dataset and a datagridview. The form is built with 3 textboxes (TxtPracticename, TxtRegion, TxtPostcode) and the datagridview (Dgvcontacts) has 4 columns (address1, address2, address3, town). So when the form loads the textboxes and columns are populated by the following;
I created a program Using ListBoxes and ComboBoxes. The program has the user selecting items from a diner menu and then calculating the cost. The problem i'm getting is the calculations aren't coming out right. I keep getting whole numbers instead of the actual price.
Here is an example. It calculates to $9.00 but should be $9.27
Here is my code...
Public Class Form1 Private mdblAmount As Integer Private Sub GetChoices()
