I am trying to update one table with results from another table as such:
Table A (field, type) : Table B
ID (key) Integer : ID (key) Integer
ParentID Integer : IssueID Integer
Number String : ParentID Integer
: Number String
I need to construct and UPDATE statement that does:
Sets B.IssueID = A.ID When B.ParentID = A.ParentID AND B.Number = A.Number AND B.IssueID = 0
Here is what I have so far but it is producing an SQL syntax error (missing operator)

I have also tried

I don't have errors of syntax in my code the only problem is when I press the search button (it doesn't store me in the columns of datagridview the 5 things I want).
I have created a search form based on my SQL database to search for individual records based on 3 types of criteria. The form is up and running but I want to be able to add some more code. I have assigned Stored Procedure to each click event for each button. What I wantr to be able to do is after value is added to text box and button is clicked if there are no reults to display than a message box is displayed with adequate message detailing this. Also is it possible to add a count of records to the form. Once value has been enetered ij tyext box and stored procedure runs and fills dataset with required data can I display a box to show number of records from this search.

I am running my application and at random times when it is unable to connect to the database I get an error saying "A Transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider, TCP Provider, error: 0- The specified network name is no longer available.) How can I stop this pop up from coming up? It comes up every once in a while and I want to disable that.

Is it possible to do the same thing in VS2008 so that the debugger will stop on any error even if it happens inside a try-catch statement?

I have a stored procedure which returns multiple select statements (result tables), and I created a Dataset in Reporting Services 2005 with this stored procedure. The problem is that I can not reference the second or third result table, and I can only use the first select statement fields. Is this the limitation on Reporting Services Dataset or is there a way to use multiple table results in one dataset?

I then check whether one of the result values is more recent than six months ago using an if..then like so:

However, if there are no results returned this will return an error. Is there a way for me to tell it to act as if the date is older than six months if there is no value at all? e.g., could I in pseudo do something like:

I then pull the first returned ID like so:

This works fine, except with the person has a ' in their last name, like M'arta. In this case I get a NullReferenceException.
Okay, the problem appears to be that when I am capturing the name initially from a GridView it is inserting into the value a #39 instead of ' and then LINQ is keeping things correct, so I end up with a non-match since it is attempting to match:
M#38arta = M'arta

Because not many computers have .net framework 4 Installed and i don't want them to download from the microsoft site. As i checked the program itself is a redistributable package <link>. Now the problem comes how do i integrate this into my own installer so that instead of asking for a download it would just ask to install the framework and then install from the setup that will be included in the package. View 6 RepliesI have a VB6 app migrated to VB.NET / VS2010 currently under test. Issue is with integration between the app and Outlook (2003). In summary the app opens an Outlook Explorer window to let the user view a calendar and update appointment items, any changes made are validated and if OK written to a db.
There are two methods here, one handles event Item_Change and does the validation / updates, the other handles Explorer_Close and tidies up all the Outlook objects. There is a condition in the Item_Change method ("If rs.RecordCount = 0 Then") which if detected needs the Outlook Explorer to be closed programmatically.

View 4 RepliesI am a student at the University of Findlay in Ohio. In our software engineering class we were given an assignment to make a database of 2 tables in Access. Simple enough. We then had to integrate that database in to VS. Again, quite simple. Along with that we are to make 4 reports that can be displayed to the user.
The problem comes here. I can not figure out how to allow the user to select say a Recruiter Number and show all the Clients who that recruiter is in charge of as well as the amount of money they owe and what they have paid already. Also I need to total those two values.

I've read up on MSScriptControl.ScriptControlClass, though that would work on a windows XP computer, but seeing as i'm using all windows 7 X64 bit machines in my domain, thats not really an option.
the project is about this:there's a user interface(ASP.net web application) which is connected to a client / server program written in c (this program has to be in c).the c program works like this:the server has to be running, and its done by:

the the client tries to connect to the server by:
./client localhost 1234
when two modules are connected, different messages can be sent from the client to the server.now what i want to achieve is to send the command from the web application to the c program... so by a button click the c program would run and send the command...
Does anyone know if this is possible:
1. Create VB9 application that monitors an Outlook Inbox.
2. When an email from a particular recipient is received, open the attachment (Excel.xls)
3. When the attachment opens, a macro is executed and the sheet is re-formatted (have already coded this bit in VBA).
4. Save the re-formatted sheet, re-attach to an email and send.
As mentioned, I have already done 3 and I have done 4 in other applications. What I am unsure how to tackle are points 1 and 2.
Has anyone had any experience with something along these lines?
