I build the query (FillGesamtumsatz) witch belongs to my last thread "Calculate the total sum of each datarow in DataRepeater"
with the Configuration-Assistent for TableAdapter in GesamtumsatzData1.xsd.Now, I don't not realy know how to connect the query with the GesamtumsatzBindingSource.
VB2008: use a BindingSource on numerous textbox fields. The form loads ok and all of the binding is working fine. My problem is that I need to set certain form defaults based on the incoming data prior to showing the form. I cannot find a form event that fires after the data is bound, yet before it is displayed. I tried Form_Activated and several more. The bound fields are still showing zero-length strings. This wasn't a problem in VB6. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
View 1 RepliesI have a DataGridView that is bound to a datatable. I also have a combo box with sorting items in it. When the user selects a new item in the combo box, the DataBindingSource.filter is changed accordingly.
For the cell and row validation on the DataGridView, I set the row error text accordingly as opposed to displaying a message box.
Occasionally, when switching between items in the combo box, the datagridview gets filled with a bunch of empty rows that all have error messages. It seems it is validating the rows that existed from the previously selected filter against the new filter.

i have a form with 6 tabs on 3 of which have controls, spent a lot of time putting it all together, set it up to link to a SQL DB, all working fine,Until....at the bottom of the form (in design mode) you have the icons that say BindingSource1 and CustomerDataSet1 etc.Well i accidently deleted some, now when i run the form i got an error saying that it couldnt load, i see the code is there but the form is just the blank form you get when you start(the form is still the same name and if i click view code all the code is there, but on the form are no controls, no tabs ... its all gone....(i only deleted a binding source ) i dont understand where its all gone.
when you click on the undo it didnt put the deleted items back (and i am not sure which one there were) now that the form has gone back to normal there are no Binding sources at the bottom I opened the designer code, i see the names of all the missing items, e.g. CustomersDataSet1 and TblCustomers1BindingSource1 e.t.c do i just re add those back to the bottom of the form and then the main controls will re appear?
I have looked through the code and re added the binding sources and adapters that are referenced in the code along with the Binding navigator, if i run it the form is still blank.I have tried to add the controls back and when i do it adds it as e.gTblCustomers1BindingSource2 if i try to rename them to the name they should be ie. TblCustomers1BindingSource1 it says it already existsI am using VB 2008 Pro?
I'm using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. What I have is an Access database that will have several tables. What I want to do is connect to the database, enter the name of a table in a text box and query that table. I created an executable file of an application done in VB Express 2010 which connects to a Access 2010 database. When installling the executable file at one of the user's computer, the file is installed correctly, but it fail's when trying to connect to the database. It says that Microsoft Dataengine cannot open the database. The user's computer doesn't have Access installed, does it need to be installed? or can I install a framework or application to avoid installing Access at the user's computer?

View 2 RepliesI wrote a program in VB2005. It is a program that is supposed to run in a client computer accessing an MS Access .mdb file stored in the server. The program itself is stored and run in the clients computer. I am not good in networking at all. The way I do it now is:
1. Have a directory made in the server to hold the MS Access .mdb file, and have the directory to be shared.
2. Have the same directory accessed and mapped in the client computer (say to Z:)
3. Then have the program in the client computer simply access the database as if it is in the same computer (as the directory already mapped into the client computer). In the VB 2005, this is done when we set the connection string of the database connection.
However, my user is complaining that by doing so, the database is basically exposed to the operator of the client computer (through the mapped directory), hence more vunerable for any bad intentions from persons who may have access to the client computer but not the server. He insists that he used to have a program that does exactly the same thing like my program, but the database is shielded in the server, where it cannot be seen in the client computer (I have other people who confirm that this can be done, though they can't tell me how, since they are not programmers themselves). Now, I have no idea on how to connect a database that way, and I don't even know where to start looking.

We have a VB.Net application which works fine in our tests in different Windows XP SP3 machines. However there is one machine in which is displaying this error:
Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts
Using the mysql command, we can successfully connect to the database. We already checked for any other application or firewall that could be blocking the connection but it seems fine. We also reinstalled the system (no errors during the installation) but the MySQL error message doesn't change.
The system settings are exactly the same as in the other computers. We are using "localhost" as server in the connection string. The "hosts" file has its default values (nothing strange in there).
I'm working on an application where I'm using an webcam image. I have code that works when using the built in iSight (It's an Apple running boot camp windows 7) camera. However after installing a second USB powered Microsoft Life Cam I am unable to connect to this second camera. When runnign this code I only ever get one input device:

I am trying to connect to my remote MySql Database within Visual Studio using the compact framework.
I can successfully add a data source and preview the data within the IDE so assume that the connection is ok regarding Connection strings and remote access.
However, when I attempt to access the data using any run time control I get the following error when the table is loaded using the .fill method.

I have a BindingSource bound to a DataTable.
I use the BS Filter and would like to iterate the filtered dataset of the DataTable using the Bindingsource.
I know I can do a MoveFirst and the MoveNext and each time using the BS.Position get the correct row in the underlying DataTable. But how do I know when the sets ends? I'm sure there must be such a property, but what is it?

Moreover, the datasource properties of the DatagridView and the Binding controls are assigned a value through code (I didn't specify anyting in the properties window). This code brings and shows the right results in the datagridview control, but the navigator control is inactive. I know that I have to bind the controls(DataGridView + BindingNavigator) to the BindingSource control. Is this a problem that I tried to do this by coding?
I have a bit strange problem in my application. I have more binding sources then one in my different forms. All of them work great when editing, deleting the data except one. But this one is a bit different from others. I'm using it only for updating and deleting. You can't add new records using it. And also its dataset doesn't contains any Insert commands in it. That's the difference.Now problem is:
After deleted the rows (using BindingSource.RemoveCurrent), it doesn't mark rows as deleted. I call BindingSource.Count method after deleted rows, it sill counts deleted rows. So it seems it doesn't update the dataset. But it is. Dataset.HasChanges returns true.
How may I filter a bindingsource between 2 numbers? Obviously "column_name BETWEEN Num1 AND Num2" does not work, since between is nor supported.

I know that using BindingSource1.find("columnName", searchString) will work when the user enters the exact string. but i do not want straight sort on product code column, i want the sort as :
substring of 1,2 + 8,3 + 3,3 and then the rest of the column.
I know i can do it in the table direct using the OrderBy and the substring function, but the problem is that sort is not static it is dynamic according to different status means it change the substring order.

My problem is that when I add a new row, with BindingSource.AddNew, even if it does not match the filter criteria, it still isn't filtered out.Could it be that the bindingsource filter never filters out detached rows?
