I use Visual Studio 8 and Sql server for my database. I have a form with a DataGridView where my records are display on from the database and some text boxes. I want to pass the data from a specific record from the DataGridView to the text boxes whithin the RowHeaderMouseDoubleClick function.

I have designed my form like this it has a combo box and several text boxes. In the form load I want to load the customer IDs of my customer table into my Combo box.Customer IDs data type is varchar and this part is working in my form.The next thing that I want to do is if a user select a single user ID from the combo box I need to display the first name last name and there are several fields of that selected customer id in the text boxes.If anyone can help me in this it'll be a great help.I have designed my data base in sql server 2008 and I'm using visual studio 2008.I added a new sqldata adapter and I created the data set.But I want to know how to pass the selected id of the combo box as the select parameter of sql statement and how to bind data to the text boxes.

I'm in the middle of creating an application that will be used to input customer information whilst the customer is speaking to someone over the phone. This involves the customer giving the employee information such as name, address, postcode etc and the employee inputting that information into text boxes and combo boxes that are in the application.
What I would like to be able to do is after the customers information is given over the phone, I need to be able to send that information to a database which will probably most likely be done by button click. In this case, I'm using Microsoft Access. I'm also hoping that I can do this within Visual Basic coding.
The database is set out with multiple tables which include a customer table and a ticket table and both have multiple fields such as first name, surname in the customers table. Both of these tables are in use with the information that the customer gives over the phone.
I've already asked on other forums and people are where replying giving me third party programs that I could use to implement this, something I don't really want to do.

I have an Access Database that contains two tables. I would like to populate 10 text boxes on my form with the data from the tables. For example: Table1 has a list of names 1 thru 5 and I would like to have 5 text boxes on my form when the form is loaded to populate those names. I know how to populate a combo box with the information, but not sure how to do it into individual text box

I'm writing a database program that will take various information from the user via text boxes, then save them as a *.txt file. I've already figured out the majority of that business. However, I'm having trouble programming a ListBox.
The ListBox needs to accept three pieces of information from 3 Text Boxes, then concantenate them when a button labeled 'Add' is pressed and scoot them to the ListBox (lstshowresults) while clearing the three boxes at the same time.
I'm trying to learn how to write a data layer class to read in information and populate combo boxes, etc.

View 6 RepliesI have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

I am trying to click on certain rows in a datagridview and have the information in the rows sent to a textbox. It does not append each row to the textbox though, which is what I want it to do. it just replaces it with the row I click on. What's wrong with my code. I have tried cell click too.

I want to display (DataGridView's) selected row contents (each cell value on appropriate text box) on text boxes on the form. This should be fairly simple task for experienced i am sure.So far i haven't been able to find a single working solution to accomplish that as most of the articles are written for VB / VB 2005/ VB 2008 and not VB 2010.

I have a data set with a parent child relationship between a patient table and an insurance table. There can be up to 4 insurances for each patient. I want to display them in 4 separate panels of a vb.net form. So if a patient had 2 insurances, then txtName1.text on panel 1 would have the company name of the first insurance, txtName2.text on panel 2 would hold the company name of the second insurance, and so on.
How do I display only the insurances related to the current patient? I've tried moving through the rows of the related table, but that gives me all the rows, not the ones I need. Everything I see on the internet suggest using a datagrid, but that's not an option in this case.

I am trying to follow the book 'Sams teach yourself VB 2008'. It was going well until the end of hour 4. For exercise 1 I have created the form with a button and two text boxes, but cannot work out the code I need to move text between the two boxes. The Object Browser does not seem to help - am I reading it wrong?
View 14 RepliesI want to be able to have a dozen or so text boxes be emptied into separate columns in a row of a datagridview. This way the text boxes can be cleared and have new values entered then save the new values as a second row in the datagridview. This is so my VB gui which which runs everything through an old cmd line program, can do batches instead of one run at a time.
The problem is I have absolutely no idea how datagridview works. I've tried searching google and only found some vague things and stuff about databases. I also tried the MSDN library and that was of no help either, couldn't find anything on simply adding stuff and if I had it'd probably be to complicated to be of use to me.

How do I put a large amount of data (we are talking of a datatable with probably 50 columns and maybe 500 rows) from the access database that is bound to a datagridview in my program into textboxes depending on the row of the datagridview row I am clicking on.
What I have in the access database is countries and companies that are attached to several different dates to each company. these dates are supposed to be filled into the textboxes automatically when I click on the company row in the datagridview and also when i fill in a date in the textboxes it is to be written to the access database when I save the update.
I have used the below load code to fill my datagridview. Is there another way or can I use this?

View 2 Repliesim having a issue where not all the data from my dgv is being loaded into text boxes on a 2nd form. What im doing is using the "DataGridView1.CellDoubleClick" event to open another form and pass the selected row into seperate columns, this works great but as i added more columns to the DGV it seems that the form is loading and not all the data is loading into the text boxes. Is there a way to halt the opening of the 2nd form until the loading is complete? i tried to simple "sleep" at the end right before the form is made visible but that didnt work. heres the code im using to load the DGV into text boxes, there are 16 columns, this is just the first one:

i am working on my first database program. i believe that I am almost finished, except that i have a remove button like i would like to remove just a single selected row both from the datagridview and the actual database. this is just in case any information is entered wrong, and also to delete all the entries i put in just for testing purposes. the only problem im having is in updating the database after removing the row from the datagridview
