DB/Reporting :: SQL Query Returning Dates Of 1/1/0001?

Oct 21, 2008

I am building an application where a button click runs a sql query and shows a user the next available date that they can process from. The problem was that it needed to be the following Sunday and not the following day. That code looked like this:

Code:
Public Class Form1
Dim ReturnValue As Object = Nothing

[code]....

Code:"select payrolldate from payroll where(payrolldate <= getdate())and payrollran <> 'yes'")but when I add that query it just returns a value of 1/1/000 as the date.

SQl Query On Form Returning Value Of 1/1/0001

Jun 11, 2011

I am developing an application that based on when a user has last entered a payroll, my program tells them the next available Sunday that is available to them based on

1. The date that the last time payroll was entered

2. If payroll ran = "yes" or "no"

I have a sql query that returns the next Sunday back to me based on this criteria, but when I put it into my application, it returns 1/1/0001 to me.

Here is the query:
select MAX(payrolldate) AS [payrolldate],
dateadd(dd, ((datediff(dd, '17530107', MAX(payrolldate))/7)*7)+7, '17530107') AS [Sunday]
from payroll

DB/Reporting :: Returning Data In A Database?

Mar 4, 2010

I would like to return the data in a database query as an array, but the problem is, Im having trouble working out how to do it, here is how I would like the data to be returned:

array (
---> 1
---> ---> 1
---> ---> ---> fieldname

[code]....

I could create a multi dimentional array, but the results could range from 2 rows, to 2000 rows, I looked into redim, but you can only redim the last dimention, I would need to the first and second, but not the last.

How To Get Precise Dates From Using SQL Query

Jul 31, 2010

I have made a simple program in VB.Net.In this program I made two DataTimePicker with the names of

1. DtpFrom
2. DtpTo

I want to get the dates from tblStudents between the dates given in the dtpFrom and dtpTo.The Date Format for these two DateTimePicker and in tblStudents is "M/d/yyyy".When I run this query.

"Select AdDate from tblStudents where AdDate >= '" & Format(dtpFrom.value,"M/d/yyyy") & "' and AdDate <= '" & dtpTo & it gives me some times correct results but some times it missed some of the dates. I want to get the precised dates, without missing any date. So is there any Mechanism to solve this Problem.

DB/Reporting :: Data Conversion Error When Showing Dates In A DataGrid View

Dec 26, 2008

I am using Visual Basic 2008, and SQL Server 2005. I have a single-user client-server app (i know that sounds stupid, but its for future expandibility and also the fact that documentation was easier to find for SQL server than Access files).The app is basically a medicals records system.

In one of the tables, called 'visits', it stores the dates on which each patient visits the doctor, among other things like symptoms and diagnosis. Another table stores all the patient names and IDs along with other details, and a relation has been set up between the patient ID in the patients table and the visits table. So i dragged the visits table from within the patients table (to get only the visits for that particular patient), and dragged it onto the form to make a datagridview. However, the datagridview didn't seem to recognise MS SQL server's smalldatetime format, and tried representing it as a picture. When i changed the format of the column to text boxes, it gave me a type mismatch error (Inconvertible type mismatch between SourceColumn 'VisitDate' of DateTime and the DataColumn 'VisitDate' of Byte[].) That means, for some reason, it is trying to convert the smalldatetime data to byte before it shows it, which is leading to the error. How do i fix this?

Also, I remember seeing some option for using completely custom column types in the datagridview, but i cant seem to find it now. The options in 'Edit Columns' are very limited, but i would like to set it to a masked text box, or something with a fixed format. Can someone recommend a good column type for representing dates, and how to make the datagridview show that kinda column?

.net - Linq Query Not Returning IEnumerable?

Jan 22, 2010

I have the follow Linq query that is in a web application that was converted from .NET 1.1 to 3.5:

dim objListOfFilteredDataRows = from datarows as datarow in objDataSet.tables(0).rows _
where datarows("SomeColumn") = SomeValue

I have the exact same query in an application that was created using .NET 3.5 and the query returns an IEnumerable. However the query in the converted application is returning:

{Name = "WhereEnumerableIterator`1" FullName = "System.Linq.Enumerable+WhereEnumerableIterator`1[[System.Data.DataRow, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089]]"}

**Edit: When I highlight the expression, the intellisense says that it doesn't know the type of objListOfFilteredDataRows and assumes its a type of "Object". Why is the type not infered in the converted 1.1 application but is infered in the "native" 3.5?**

What am I missing here? How do I convert the "WhereEnumeratorIterator`1 to an IEnumerable?

C# - Linq Query Summing Dates In Range?

Feb 9, 2011

Trying to work out if there's a nice way of doing this, preferably in Linq rather than loops, which is what I've done for now.

I want the number of days my Product is active between two dates.

Product has many ProductHistories, ProductHistory has values for DateActive and DateInactive. DateInactive can be null, and often will be, to show that this history is ongoing. Histories won't overlap.

I want to sum the maximum of my startDate or the ProductHistory's DateActive, and subtract that total from the sum of the minimum of endDate or ProductHistory's DateInactive (endDate by default if DateInactive has no value).

Worked example:

Get active number of active days between 2011-01-01 (1st Jan) and 2011-02-01 (1st Feb)

Histories:

Active 2010-12-25 : Inactive 2011-01-05
Active 2011-01-15 : Inactive 2011-01-20
Active 2011-01-25 : Inactive null

Entity Framework Returning Different Data Then DB Query?

Jan 4, 2011

I have a view on some data in my database it returns the data as I would expect, for example

Call Date To From Phone Number
20/1/2010 00:00 23:59 08923233223
20/1/2010 00:00 23:59 08923233245

However when I have added this to my Entity Model and query it I get duplicate(and unexpected) data appearing

Call Date To From Phone Number
20/1/2010 00:00 23:59 08923233223
20/1/2010 00:00 23:59 08923233223

I am simply binding a Entity Data Source to this Entity but I am left scratching my head as to why the data is being returned differently

EDIT: Interestingly this can't be the result of some strange under the hood join as the row counts match as expected. I have also put together a query myself to test with the same odd results.From o In App.Entities.v_PersonalRules Where o.companyid = CompanyID Select o. I am using Visual Studio 2010, .NET 4

EDIT: The front end code is fairly simple

<asp:EntityDataSource ID="EDS_Personal" runat="server" ConnectionString="name=Entities_NEW"
DefaultContainerName="Entities_NEW" EnableDelete="True" EnableInsert="False"
EnableUpdate="True" EntitySetName="v_PersonalRules" EntityTypeFilter="v_PersonalRules" >[code]....

Returning Query Results To Presentation Layer?

Mar 11, 2010

Im currently working on an n-layer application that does alot of database work.90% of all database queries are updates, and inserts and I want to be able to view the results of my query in the presentation layer.I was thinking of creating a QueryResult class that has a few properties like QuerySuccessful (boolean), Message (string) - holds success or error message, and optional field to hold any additional data that may need to be passed back to the presentation layer.So I guess my question is, am I going about this the correct way by creating a QueryResult class, and passing that back up through the layers to my PL?

DB/Reporting :: Combo Box Filled By Query?

SELECT DISTINCT State from Cities I have previewed the data in the dataset designer and it works, i just can't figure out how to make it fill the combo box. i initially created a table with just all of the states and then used a binding source and table adapter to bind it to the combo box, but if I'm able to figure this out this would help with my application going forward
