I have a database application connected to a sql express datafile, i am using a datagridview and have clicked on the arrow and added a query. the query is simply sort / ascending on my date field which is a text field with auto generated when the field is focused so i know the dates are entered correctly but when i use the query they are not in their correct order. I am making use of an ASP.NET Masterpage. I have 3 tables as Columns in my Masterpage. The first table load then the second table that contains my "ContentPlaceHolder" and then table 3. I have an XML file that is being updated via ASP.NET. The user should be able to add new nodes to the XML file AT ANY LOCATION in the node tree.
The XML file is read into a DataSet using DataSet.ReadXml(filename).
A new row is added to the appropriate DataTable, using InsertAt(row, index).
I have confirmed using a DataGrid, and using a loop (For Each dRow in Table, Response.Write..) that the new Row was inserted into the table at the correct spot (in my example code, the 3rd position).
However, The WriteXml() method is writing the node to the END of the XML tree! I can't get it to see the tree with the node in the correct location.

Ok here goes my stab in the dark again: I would like to be able to insert a number in to a list box in the correct order, at the moment the number gets put at the end, but the list box starts negative and then gets larger and the values that will be added are within the range already there, My guess would be some sort of sort function?

I want the number of days my Product is active between two dates.
Product has many ProductHistories, ProductHistory has values for DateActive and DateInactive. DateInactive can be null, and often will be, to show that this history is ongoing. Histories won't overlap.
I want to sum the maximum of my startDate or the ProductHistory's DateActive, and subtract that total from the sum of the minimum of endDate or ProductHistory's DateInactive (endDate by default if DateInactive has no value).
Worked example:
Get active number of active days between 2011-01-01 (1st Jan) and 2011-02-01 (1st Feb)
Histories:
Active 2010-12-25 : Inactive 2011-01-05
Active 2011-01-15 : Inactive 2011-01-20

I am using a modal form with a datagridview in order to populate textboxes on a parent form. The datagridview is bound to an anonymous type resulting from a linq query, which varies depending on the textbox control whose keypress event is called. I always want to display a key value in column 0 of the datagridview (along with a variable number of additional columns), and then use that key value once the user selects a row.
However, when setting an anonymous type from a linq query as the datasource for a datagridview control, the columns are indexed alphabetically rather than in the sequence selected in the query. This requires setting the displayindex as a workaround, and then keeping track of which column contains my key value. I read elsewhere that this was something fixed in VS2008 SP1, but I still encounter the behavior.

I'm using visual basic 2008 express edition and I'm not sure how to attach my query in order for it to run? I've been using trying to use visual basic to create a form which retrieves data from a Microsoft access database and filters the data to find the record starting with the letter retrieved from the user. When it is run without the query the data grid shows all the records. However when my original query is put in the application changes it and the value shown is null in all fields.
This is what i had before:

I've created a log in system using a database and query builder to return the correct values, however, once the users signed in I need to bring up the rest of their data from the same table in the database. How'd be the best way of going about this? I'm not sure whether the log in should be changed to use the primary key as well.
