below is the coding i want to ask :[code...]
this code is used for login by querying into the database....the logic is like this..it query accoding to the username text box and pass word text box...if there is indeed such rows in the table, then the bacadata.read, else something else happens...i have a few question :
1.is this the right way of login in by checking the row is available or not?
2.is there any enlightment and solution for the appropriate way to login system by using database other than the one teached by my lecturer?

i am trying to log a user in using a login form. i have my connection to my database and there and it connects just fine but it will only read the first row. here is my code.

there are two entries in the database. the first username and password are bagstoper and 1a2b3c4 the second is bagstoper2 and 1a2b3c4d. when i test it with the first username and password it works but when i try the second it doesnt work.

I'm creating an app like a CRM ( Costumer Relationship Managment ) for a school but I have some questions I'd like to be answered.
It will have a main user ( Administrator ) and that user can create another users to access the app. The app will work locally and I would like to know a method to save that information @ localhost without being acessible to edit or view by other users.
Im thinking in a Access DB with all info and then make all information needed. But how to secure it without anyone else could access it or modify id? An encryption method would be the best way?

I need to convert a large VB6 app to vb.net which does a lot of database work and produces a Crystal Report. The initial form is simple a login form which validates the user. I am trying to use a datareader to retrieve the user's login info but it won't compile on the statement where I'm trying to get the Connection String from the app.config file. It complains that the ConfigurationManager is not declared on the dim statement. Where and how do I declare the ConfigurationManager? I thought it was just pointing to the app.config file but apparently that is not correct. [Code]

this would be my first post and usually I can figure these problems out, but I am stumped so badly right now, I am writing code to write into a .mdb file, my program uses two login forms, the first reads the data base, and sees if the user name and password is correct. I got that working, my second login form is used for creating an account. I created a SQL DB named MainDB.mdf and a small VB 2010 application with some forms and datasets.Everything was working OK until i got a new computer and re-installed Visual Studio 2010 and SQL server 2010 on it. I copied my DB from the old to the new computer and also copied by VB 2010 project to it. I used Windows Authentication to connect to the DB in the old computer and also in the new one, i am using different Windows user account names though.
I was able to connect to the DB in the new computer in the Server Explorer section, i created a new connection string to the DB and i can seed there is data in the tables. When i run my VB 2010 application created in the old computer get error:
"Cannot open database "MainDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'D630Admin'."
I need to get rid of that error and be able to add/mod/del data from my DB using my VB application as i used to.

I have the lines above to login by database. However, I really don't know why always give me the error: "Incorrect fields". I am 120% sure that all the fields of the table are right, including the text that I put into my textboxs. I have already add a user into the database. I can make login in PHP but in VB.NET I just can't.

I followed below attached tutorial but I got this error: Cannot open database "mydb" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NAME OF COMPUTER FOR THE NETWORKUsername'. Second question: When I deploy my application which communicates with SQL server, should I put in the installation file SQL server? If I need to deploy and SQL server, I have to configure server, right? P.S.I use SQL 2005. I changed Authentication Mode of the SQL server to: SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode.

I want to move my programs and the database to another computer and hard-disks. It looks to me as though I nearly have to re-create the controls and rewrite some of the code to make it so the programs still work after the move. At least with ODBC all I would change was the DSN definitions external to the programs. Is there an easy way to move or rename a database without loads of work?

I had a problem with WebBrowser component. Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. I am trying to copy a table from a network database to a local database. I used DAO and could check if the network table existed using a function that tried to assign a TableDef object to the table in question. If there was no error then I assumed that the table existed and the function returned true...Or it would error out and return false.I could then proceed with the copy or not as the case may be.I am converting the code to ADO.net and need to know how to check for a table. Is it possible that multiple vb.net programs, which are installed in remote computers or client computers in the same network, connect to this database simultaneously? Now I have created the database object no problem, I have designed the login form and also designed the create new user form ( I have also added the dataset to this form which loads the updated user information).
