I have an MS data report in which I have dragged items from dataset. In fact my datareport has items from two datasets and this is the problem. My report comprises two parts, Header and detail and each part need different datasource.
I am frustrated with this. Please help. I wanna do it like this:=Iif((Fields!Qty.Value * Fields!UnitCost.Value) + Val(reportitems!txtTUC.Value) = 0.00, "-", (Fields!Qty.Value * Fields!UnitCost.Value) + Val(reportitems!txtTUC.Value))
Is it invalid to multiply different types of item? if so, how can I make it? I just want to get the sum of (UnitCost * Quantity) to be the value of txtTUC.
All I really want to do is a join. Table 1 and Table 2 both have a number that would link the two together. I want to join two fields from Table 2 onto Table 1. I need to have two datasets because there are two different connections being made.I want to push this onto a DataGridView, which only allows a single datasource. So I'm thinking I would need to make a temp table somehow, but since I'm pulling from two different datasets I don't know if that's possible.
I set up SQL Server 2008 loaded VS2008 and all the ODBC drivers.All ODBC connections for DS and DGV's and using connection strings. I managed to get the connections working when I tested this on a new program.When I copy all the files from my other computer and try to view this it works with the connection string and connects to SQL server fine.But with the dgv I see nothing. Yet if I preview the datasets I get the result I am expecting
I have an Access table that contains "Customer Number".
I have an ODBC dataset (iSeries IBM Client Access, or AS/400 data) with a customer table in it. I want to link the customer numbers in the access table to the ODBC table so I can show the customer number from the access table and the customer name, city, and state from the ODBC table.
I want to display this information in a grid. I also want to be able to add records to the grid (which adds them to the access table). What is the best way to get started doing this? I am using VB2005. I could use MS Access and have it done in about 2 minutes, but I want to take the plunge and learn VB2005.
But this VB2005 and .net thing seems like they re-wrote the book on programming and I cant seem to get a grasp on it. I have tried several projects like this in hopes of learning, but ended up abandoning them in frustration.
I'm having a problem with my crystal report with regards to report footer. I want to display the data from the table, column name "Remarks" in report footer but when I try to call the data it doesn't show the remarks. I'm using VB 6 and mdb files as my back end. Is there any command or fundamental that I've missed?

I am trying to convert a VB6 Data Report (.dsr file) to a Crystal Report through the migration process within Visual Studio. I have read articles that reference adding a Data Report to a Project from Visual Studio 2005/2008 and that it will convert the Data Report to a Crystal Report, but I have not been successful in doing so. Does the VB6 Data Environment need to be converted too? Has anyone been able to do this successfully and if so, how?
I have 2 tables Markers and Clients. Within the Marketers table i have Team Leaders as well. I want to print a report that will display a Team Leader and the Marketer with all the Clients for that particular Marketer, and then do that for all the Marketers under that Team Leader.
Can you look at my coding and let me know what I'm missing or doing wrong?I have a SSRS report that is called from a ReportViewer control and the ProcessingMode for this control is Remote. The report also has 1 parameter in it's DataSet.In the code I placed a MsgBox to make sure the code is finding the parameter and returning the parameter name. I am trying to stick the value of 10 into the parameter for playerID 10. Data for this player does exist.
I believe I need to add some more code to make this work but I'm not sure what else to add.

how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." Currently we are using a VB script macro created in word to create some fairly simple forms based off of data entered on a data entry form. I am very new to VB, and I have been able to create many applications using forms, but I have absolutely no history creating reports. I have been reading up on the reports, and it looks like they are designed to use with data sources like tables. I merely want to take either data from the entry form, or from data derived internaly from processing the user entered data and populate a defined report "form". I have been searching, but there is so much on printing reports, that I feel overwhelmed. I am not looking for the exact answer as much as a link or place to look for a sample for what I want to do.
I have an Address Book project with a listbox. The listbox is bound to the database via the little arrow pop-up box in the corner of the listbox. I have the DisplayMember set to FirstName, and obviously only display the First Name of the contact in the ListBox. Is there an easy way to change it so that it displays the First and Last names? I have an Access database with a table called Events.I created a new VB.net 2008 project and created a MicrosoftReportViewer control. I also added a "Report" component (which created a .rdlc file).I am easily able to drag things from my Access database I added to the data sources onto the report. However, one part of the report I would like to add data to a Matrix that I calculated with VB (ie it is not in the database). The database has a list of names and a bunch of times associated with each name. and then I calculate some fancy stuff based on those times. I would like the matrix to be a list of names (from the database) on the rows, a list of dates (which I specify in the code) on the columns, and the data of the matrix I also calculate.
I�m working on a project that saves records to a datatable/dataset. I then serialize the dataset to save it, and deserialize to show the records in a datagridview, I add more records, serialize, deserialize etc etc. � I�m using binary formatting. I added the dataset/datatable from the toolbox and selected �untyped� for the dataset. I want to print out this table and other text. Do I need to draw a report using graphics on to a page and then programmatically add the data from the deserialized file, or is there a better way to design and add data to a report? I�ve looked at crystal reports and report viewer and I cannot see how to programmatically add data using them � they both talk about connecting to a SQL or ADO database which mine isn�t.
