C# - Get The Data From Datasets & View On The DataGridView With A Different Layout Formats
May 2, 2011
I have 2 tables : product (as parent) and sales (as a child).
[Code]...
product_id at the product table is pK for product table. transaction_id at the sales table is pK for sales table . product_id at the sales table as fK, which a reference to the product_id of product table All my tables are stored in the dataset. How do I get the data from these datasets can I view on the DataGridView with a different layout formats, as follows.
I moved a project so I could work on it in two places. When I opened the project, I have only worked on it from one computer, my form did not show in the solution explorer so I moved it back. I opened the project and everything was there but I was not able to see my form layout in designer view. The code is there and it builds and looks right but I can't see any of my form components and I need to edit some properties.
I am using Visual Basic Express 2005. I am opening the startup form of my application in "Maximized" view. In the form designer, I am setting the anchor properties of the various controls that I have on the form so that they are located where I want them to be located when the Form loads.
I was wondering, if there was a way such that the form in my designer would be of the same size as the Maximized form? As of now I am dragging and resizing the edges of the Form in the Designer view to make it bigger..
In a nut shell what I am trying to do is, pull one or more tables into a datagrid view. I am having one heck of a time returning multiple datasets. I can eleect all indavidually, but when I try to select more than one, I only get the last "table" in the list. If I could establish a ODBC connection that would be better, but this will have to work for now with some canned queries I have.
I am recieving data from my database and i want to view the data in a datagridview.
So, i wrote the query:
Dim Sql as String Sql = "SELECT workorder.ID, merk.merk, type.type, workorder.klacht, CONCAT('', CONVERT(workorder.totaal, CHAR)) AS totaal FROM workorder
i am trying to get data from the clipboard into dataset and view it on a datagridview using the code below. The problem is that every line after the first line starts with a character (like a small rectangle) but when i run a sperate loop to view each character i do not find any unexpected asc code.
'this is the text in the clipboard this is a test to get
is there a way to view the data contents of a datagridview on screen? i mean if i have a dgv with 7 columns and 7 rows, and i can only view 5 columns and 5 rows of it when i run the program cause i have a small form,(regardless of the scrollbars) is there a way that when i click the button 'viewonscreen', the whole datagridview will be viewed on screen?
I am filling up a datagridview with data from an sql server - view. I have in the vie 3 columns and each column should have for each cell values like TRUE or FALSE (or NULL) I need a script to put a picture in datagridview for true, one for false and nothing for NULL This should be done in VB.NET
although this topic has been posted for many times, I still can't figure out how to copy multi formats in clipboard. For example, I have a class called "Meta" and it contains data of a drawing. So if someone copy it to the clipboard, it should contains the original data of the class in a custom format called "drawing", a metafile of the drawing and a bitmap in case some app can't read metafiles. How exactly can I do?
I wish to avoid duplicate files using content based in any drive. Files may be at any formats . I dont know wat algorithm s used for fast search and how to compare all data formats.
Using Visual Basic 2005 So this is the problem I have run into. I need to populate a Datagrid with Data from 4 different tables of which I have gotten down to 3 DataTables in one DataSet.
The first one is called Letters and includes: LastPrintedOn & requiredpaper The second is called ImportParams and includes: ImportParamsID, BlockLetterGroup1, BlockLetterGroup2 and BlockLetterGroup3
The Last is called ClientInfo and includes: ClientGroupID, CapturedOn, ProcesingCommittedOn, ProcessingStartedOn, ProcessingCompletedOn, ImportParamsID
Now I can attack this from one of two ways (at least that is how I see it)
Select the ClientGroupID's I need (1,2,3,6) from that I will have the ImportParamsID which will then get me to the second table which has the blocked letters 1, 2 or 3 of them of which I can then check against the last table to get the date. There is one clients as of now that will end up with 3 thus being 3 seperate lines on the DGV or Table to show the different letter types.
Method 2:Bascially the reverse, look at the letter types and work backwards though I think the first method is easier. Where should I start? I'm not looking for code but the path I need to be on to get to the end.
When I double click on a row on a datagrid, a form will appear like the above screenshot.
When I double click on the row which consist of Brian/Kendall, a form will appear and should show Brian in the First Name text box and Kendall should appear in the Last Name textbox.
All I really want to do is a join. Table 1 and Table 2 both have a number that would link the two together. I want to join two fields from Table 2 onto Table 1. I need to have two datasets because there are two different connections being made.I want to push this onto a DataGridView, which only allows a single datasource. So I'm thinking I would need to make a temp table somehow, but since I'm pulling from two different datasets I don't know if that's possible.
I have an MS data report in which I have dragged items from dataset. In fact my datareport has items from two datasets and this is the problem. My report comprises two parts, Header and detail and each part need different datasource.
I set up SQL Server 2008 loaded VS2008 and all the ODBC drivers. All ODBC connections for DS and DGV's and using connection strings. I managed to get the connections working when I tested this on a new program. When I copy all the files from my other computer and try to view this it works with the connection string and connects to SQL server fine. But with the dgv I see nothing. Yet if I preview the datasets I get the result I am expecting
I have an Access table that contains "Customer Number".
I have an ODBC dataset (iSeries IBM Client Access, or AS/400 data) with a customer table in it. I want to link the customer numbers in the access table to the ODBC table so I can show the customer number from the access table and the customer name, city, and state from the ODBC table.
I want to display this information in a grid. I also want to be able to add records to the grid (which adds them to the access table). What is the best way to get started doing this? I am using VB2005. I could use MS Access and have it done in about 2 minutes, but I want to take the plunge and learn VB2005.
But this VB2005 and .net thing seems like they re-wrote the book on programming and I cant seem to get a grasp on it. I have tried several projects like this in hopes of learning, but ended up abandoning them in frustration.
I am successful in populating data to a treeview from 3 tables (Constituents, epresentations, Letters) from a sql database. The below code works fine for that
Dim constda As New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Constituents", conn) Dim repsda As New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Representations", conn) Dim lettsda As New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Letters", conn)
i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description. And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview. But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview. The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview. And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.
I used to build data layer by using Classes, however someone suggest to use Strongly Typed DataSets because it's faster in development. The data layer that I'm going to build should support multi DBMS(Oracle,MSSQL, MySQL..)

how is better build it by using Strongly Typed DataSets or by using Classes?
I have 1 datagridview and i want to transfer all records to another datagridview, how can i possibly do that. Newbie here. This is my code in transferring 1 record to another datagridview to another one.
I just want to display data in a DataGridView (from SQL - already made the connection) based on what is selected in a ComboBox (data that is also coming from SQL). The 2 are separete on the form. I am using VB 2010.
This doesn't work for me: objCommand2.CommandText = "SELECT ProductID, Name, Color, Size, ListPrice FROM SalesLT.Product WHERE ProductCategoryID = " & cbCategory.SelectedValue
