i am trying to get data from the clipboard into dataset and view it on a datagridview using the code below. The problem is that every line after the first line starts with a character (like a small rectangle) but when i run a sperate loop to view each character i do not find any unexpected asc code.

I am unable to read a pasted datagridviewrow object from the clipboard. All I want to do is, when a user has the entire row selected and copied, I would paste that row into the clipboard as a DataObject. That works just fine but when I attempt to read that DataObject (after the user clicks Paste) the DataGridViewRow that's saved in the clipboard always has a value of Nothing. [URL] Massi worked through the process using Order (OrderID is PK) as the master table and Order Detail (OrderDetaiID is PK) as a related table in dataGridView. The dataGridView automatically generate orderDetailID whenever the mouse enters in a new row. I am doing a similar form, but placing order form and orderDetail form in two separate tabs in a tabcontrol, and also using Details view for both tables. When I click "new" button in BindingNavigator, the orderID is automatically generated. If I use dataGridView for my orderDetail tab, then the orderDetailID is automatically generated when the mouse enters. This allow me to insert/update tables correctly. However I need the Details View for my orderDetail form too. How do I get a orderDetailID automatically generated when user insert a new order and have the mouse click on OrderDtail tab?

I have a datagridview on a form which is populated with data from our backend database. A few of my users are experiencing a problem when they select all the cells in the datagridview and try to copy and paste the contents into something such as Excel.
The error is: Requested Clipboard operation did not succeed.
Having searched for information on this error it appears that if a process has the clipboard already open (such as office) this will cause the exception being thrown (which is a system.runtime.interopservices.externalexception), usually when the code calls the clipboard.settext method (which I do not). However my form and its code does not even contain anything to do with clipboard manipulation, copy and paste or anything remotely to do with using the clipboard so I am unsure as how I can actually catch this exception and just report back to the user?

View 2 RepliesI am returning to VB building, first time since HighSchool. I am creating a program that has many fields of data that you type into. When you click Generate Button it then writes all that data a .txt file and opens it in notepad.
From that point you copy everything in notepad and paste it into a ConnectWise HelpDesk Ticket.
My goal is to automatically get the data when clicking Generate to populate into the Clipboard, or let it write to the .txt file and then copy all the data from the .txt file into the clipboard. So all you have to do is Ctrl + V after Clicking "Generate"
I have tried everything I can to get beyond this error which shows below as <<<<< error here. It is trying to fill a dataset from a data adapter. If I change the SELECT statement to just SELECT * FROM xTable I get the correct number of records in each table. But anytime I try with a more complex statement I get the error message shown below which indicates System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet. I've completely erased all data and entered a new set of test data so I know there is no problem with relationships. Each table has primary key which is foreign key in other table. There is Bitmap data on the clipboard from a screen capture. If I paste it into a RichTextBox it works OK. That is, if I remove the first two lines below.

However, If I capture the clipboard data and restore it before I paste I no longer get my bitmap displayed in the box. My problem is, in the real situation I need to use the clipboard before I paste which is why I save it and restore it above.
1) Do you know why restoring doesn't appear to work here?
2) I can't paste before the save/restore. Is there something else I can do?
I am having issues retrieving a class serialized in another application. If I put the code all in one application the set and get both work. If I separate the code into two applications the retrieval fails. Any thoughts on how to set the object to the clipboard in one app and get it back in a second one? [code]

So if it possible, how can I catch a value when I the user copies some text? I could make a cool application that would be quite handy... is there any event that could catch the data when something is copied onto the clipboard?
