I'm trying to program that specific data will be copied to the clipboard so the user can paste it in, for example, Excel or Word. I already know that the following code can do this:Clipboard.setdataobject( " some text " )But that's where my problem just starts. It seems I can only copy the data to Excel and Word etc. as long as my application is running. As soon as I quit it, the clipboard is empty.

I have a DataGridView which lists the paths of a group of files, pptx, xlxs, etc. From a context menu they can copy the name of the file onto the clipboard, or delete the file or rename the file, but I would like to be able to actually attach the file itself to the clipboard so it could be pasted as an attachment to an email or something like that. How do I get the file itself onto the clipboard when I only have the path to it?

I have some VB.Net WinForms I imported from VB2005 that are MDI Child forms. In the old project the clipboard shortcuts work (Ctrl-V, etc.) but in the VS2010 project they do not. the ShortCutsEnabled property is true.Any way to get these working again without adding special code to replicate the feature? I have a bunch of forms to convert....The parent does have KeyPreview but I can comment that out and the problem still exists. I also hook the TextChanged event for dirty logic but I can comment that out also to no avail.

I am unable to read a pasted datagridviewrow object from the clipboard. All I want to do is, when a user has the entire row selected and copied, I would paste that row into the clipboard as a DataObject. View 2 RepliesI need to import data from files generated by a 3rd party program which scans our inventory as it passes through the production line.This program, rather than inserting the data into a backend db or even a log file, creates a series of .asc files per item that passes.
I originally intended to watch that folder and move new additions to a temp location, import to our db, then move to a final resting place for archiving. As it turns out, i cannot move these files, because the program checks this directory to perform a few critical functions
1. the file name serves as a primary key to ensure item ID's are not duplicated...
2. when running a sequential set, it auto-increments from the last file created.
Since I cannot move the files, is it possible through System.File.IO or some other means to copy files to a temp location, run my imports, then move to the final location then continue to watch this directory, and only move files to the temp location that do not yet exist in the final directory?
I want to get a matricial data (a matrix of numbers, like a txt data with TAB separators) from the clipboard and put these numbers each one in many Labels (or other Control that would be easier to work with numbers - maybe NumericUpDown, but I don't like his look). i am trying to get data from the clipboard into dataset and view it on a datagridview using the code below. The problem is that every line after the first line starts with a character (like a small rectangle) but when i run a sperate loop to view each character i do not find any unexpected asc code.

View 2 RepliesI am returning to VB building, first time since HighSchool. I am creating a program that has many fields of data that you type into. When you click Generate Button it then writes all that data a .txt file and opens it in notepad.
From that point you copy everything in notepad and paste it into a ConnectWise HelpDesk Ticket.
My goal is to automatically get the data when clicking Generate to populate into the Clipboard, or let it write to the .txt file and then copy all the data from the .txt file into the clipboard. So all you have to do is Ctrl + V after Clicking "Generate"

There is Bitmap data on the clipboard from a screen capture. If I paste it into a RichTextBox it works OK. That is, if I remove the first two lines below.

However, If I capture the clipboard data and restore it before I paste I no longer get my bitmap displayed in the box. My problem is, in the real situation I need to use the clipboard before I paste which is why I save it and restore it above.
1) Do you know why restoring doesn't appear to work here?
2) I can't paste before the save/restore. Is there something else I can do?
I am having issues retrieving a class serialized in another application. If I put the code all in one application the set and get both work. If I separate the code into two applications the retrieval fails. Any thoughts on how to set the object to the clipboard in one app and get it back in a second one? [code]

So if it possible, how can I catch a value when I the user copies some text? I have a chkBox that will verify the data that is suppose to be put over intothe tabbed page and if I check it, it will put the data into the textbox. Yet if I leave it unchecked the data does not get copied.

I have three data files that I include with my project. They are all set to Build Action Content and Copy to Output Copy Always. I have a preferences form that allows the user to copy these files to a folder of their choosing. It works fine in the IDE. However, when deployed one file will copy but the next returns an error the the file cannot be found. In the following code block a deployed application will copy ABW11Data.sdf but cannot find 100610_40.dtb or 2118@005.dtb. They are in the deployment files and I can search and find them in the clickonce installation although they are not in the same place as the ABW11data.sdf.
