View 4 Repliesi am using MsAccess as database.insert/edit/delete commands are working perfectly in my code. the problem is that if i insert a record it is definitly inserted in table in MsAccess but that cannot be seen on runtime. To see that inserted record i have to close MsAccess Table to verify that the record is inserted there. And also I have to stop debugging and then restart debug to see that the record is being displayed in Datagridview. How i can changes in records can be seen on runtime in DatagridView as well as in the MsAccess table on runtime.

I Fill a DataTable using a SQLDataAdapter then use a BindingSource as my DataGridViews DataSource. My DataGridView contains a ComboBoxColumn named "Status". There are two ways to update the Status column. One, the user can change the value by clicking a cell in the column then the combobox appears and they make their selection. Second, the user can click a button on the form and the Status for all the visible rows are changed to "Exported". I use a stored procedure as my adapters Update command.

This is my code (after the dgv has been filled):

The code correctly indicates that the cell is selected, and when the page is loaded I can still se the cell selected, but the cursor doesn't appear and nothing happens when I type.
I was creating a program that will add the value of the first 2 columns in datagridview when you typed it in then the answer will be displayed in the third column... I want to auto update the third column that if I delete the value of one of first two columns the third column will be affected. Is it possible to update the value of a cell if it already has a value?

View 5 RepliesI have three comboboxes in a form. The first is the parent of the second, which is the parent of the third. When they are all updated, a datagridview should be updated.
The problem is that the user can choose to change the value of either combobox, so I don't know which combobox's value is being changed. Therefore I now update the datagridview from the third combobox's selectedvaluechanged event. This unfortunately means that if the first combobox is changed, the second and third comboboxes selectedvalue events must trigger. As a consequence, when the first combobox is changed, the datagridview is being updated about six times (which doesn't work for me performancewise).
What I'd like to do is to call the updatedatagridview sub from either one of the three comboboxes, but only if the user has chosen to change that specific combobox's value (that is, get the form to only update the datagridview when the selectedvalues of all three comboboxes have been set).
What are the best practices to develop a software in such a way that I can release updates, I mean I can release an update which replace the existing executable but in case I have added some new references (dlls) to the project this won't work ? Is there any way I can do it without running an MSI?

Additionally I have ControlTab(3 tabs) that has "fields" and its own Buttons to insert data into a different table. OK, in it's simpest terms, I have a custom object (all string Items) which I add to a list of those items. The list is declared as a global variable. One form updates the list, another contains a dataGridView (vs.net 3.5) that displays the list items. The view displays the correct data. For some reason, if I select a header in the dgv before it's populated, that's fine, but if I select it (click anywhere with the mouse) it bugs out with an Index = -1 error from the System.Windows.Forms. CurrencyManager.get_Item(Int32 index) bit.

In the data set designer, I have an ODBC connection to a table, with two SQL queries defined FillByCustomerName(NAME), and FillByCustomerNumber(CUSTOMER_NUMBER). If I preview the data in the designer, I see the data expected. The datagridview doesn't show any data. The functions PopulateGridByName and PopulateGridByNumber do the work. I've tried adding a dgCustomer.show statement, The form that calls the user control has no codebehind code, and throws no errors.

I have a gridview that is set to a sql datasource, it is generating the columns automatically. If I add a column to the table it is referencing, it will draw that column and display it, but it does not update the insert/update commands to include the new column. Is there any way have it rebuild those commands automatically?
