Part of my project requires me to capture data, for example, email address, from certain rows/columns of a datagridview(form2.vb) and displays them in a textbox on another windows form(form1.vb) with a click of a button(Add Contact button). The problem is the datagridview on my form must be able to display databases by making a connection to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 but so far, i have not been able to do that. I have seen many codes with regards to my problem but i do not know how to implement it.
Below are my codes that i have written so far. My program's limitations are not being able to display databases from Microsoft SQL Server 2005 so i created the statement below to add columns and test my codes.

Insert A Windows Media Player Object In My Form - Not The Control On My Toolbox ?
Apr 26, 2012I want to insert a Windows Media Player object in my Form, but I have not the control on my Toolbox.
I have done the steps:
Right-click
the Toolbox -> Choose item -> COM Components -> add Windows Media Player component
(which references to C:WindowsSystem32wmp.dll)
But there is not the control on my Toolbox.
In my project references I see "MediaPlayer" into "Imported namespaces" and it is checked. In the references window it is also present "Windows Media Player". Where is the error?
Auto-refresh Windows Form - Sub Form With A Datagridview ?
Apr 16, 2009I am working on VB.Net. I have a sub form with a datagridview, that is being loaded with the criteria taken from another form. Hence this form is called with parameters.

Now, I need to refresh this sub form every -- minutes, depending on how the user wants it to be. For this I have given a NumericUpDown control to select the mins. All this works fine. But how do I refresh the dataset and the datagridview?

All of the samples posted on the web are for VB 2005/.NET and the syntax is definitely different in 2008 because attempting to copy+paste to just test some of their source is just littered with errors.

Nov 10, 2009I have a project in which i have a form in which there is add button to add pages. In form load the last entered page populates all the fields. Now thing is if user edits the values in controls it has to update the db with those fields and if the page doesn't exist in db it has to insert.

I initialized a global variable x and set its value to 0 in page load and in add button click to 1. Depending on x value it either inserts or updates the db in form closing and add button click. Now whats happening is If the user clicks on add button the page increments but if user doen;t enter any values and tries to close the empty form, value of x =1 and it tries to insert but as there are blank fields cmd.executenonquery throws an error.
"The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data."
What should I do so that it doesn't give an error. I am using access db.I even checked in db Except for primary key(pageno) all other fields have "allow zero length" as YES & "required" to NO.

Sep 20, 2010I have a datagridview in my win form It has a calander cell which populate on first cell click means any row cell (0) . dgv has allowusertoaddrow property true .I used the code [URL]..now the problem is when I change the value of calander cell . and leave the cell instead of adding a single blank row it add three rows. and first two rows have the values for the autoincrement column and last row is full blank.

Apr 10, 2011i was thinking. is it possible to bring the rows that we click at datagridview and bring it into another form. which mean i click on a data that are on the datagridview, then it will pop up a form, inside the form, there will be have the data we have click on the datagridview, and we can edit and save at that form. Oct 7, 2009I have a user control that contains a search value text box a button, and a datagridview to display what the data adapter found. In the data set designer, I have an ODBC connection to a table, with two SQL queries defined FillByCustomerName(NAME), and FillByCustomerNumber(CUSTOMER_NUMBER). If I preview the data in the designer, I see the data expected. The datagridview doesn't show any data. The functions PopulateGridByName and PopulateGridByNumber do the work. I've tried adding a dgCustomer.show statement, The form that calls the user control has no codebehind code, and throws no errors.
