Insert Into Multiple Tables In Windows Form Application?
Jan 11, 2011
i am using vb.net(2008) and MS access as my database.[CODE]...
now i want to insert into these tables. how can i do that? i know how to insert into a single table for example listed below, so how can i modify that so that i can insert into multiple tables[CODE]...
I have a Windows application form. Directly on the form I have a lable ("Customer Names"), a ComboBox (pulling actually names from a database) , and a Buton to add a customer to the database if i choose. Additionally I have ControlTab(3 tabs) that has "fields" and its own Buttons to insert data into a different table. The first 2 tabs have textBoxes, which are completely functional, but the 3rd tab has a "DataGridView"
I'm try to make a multiple form as like as navigation form. There are several form(MainForm, Form1,Form2,....and Next Form)in the MainForm i'm put a "ADD" button, when i click on the add button Form1 is show up. On the Form1 there are 3 button (Back,Next, and Cancel) when i'm click Next Button on the Form1 then Form2 is show up and the same way to next button / back button
I am making a server - multiple client windows form application using Visual Basic Express 2005.
I was wondering if there was a way that I could debug multiple instances of the client at the same time?Ashray Lavsi If my post answers your Question, don't forget to "Mark it as Answer"
I've been trying to connect a MS database to a V.B. form unsucessfully.Actually when i try to do that, i can't connect the tables information to the form or store the information i enter in the form in the MS table.I was doing an exercise here, and to store the information in the table called readers, i typed:
I am very new to vb. I have to create a registration form based on the a complainant form and offender form. Complainant form fills out, take the complainant_ID and parse it to registration form to load. Now when the registration form loads, it has registration_Id and complainant_ID, fills out necessary info and add an offender from the offender form and pass back the offender_ID to the registration form..now on this registration form, we have registration_ID, complainant_ID, and offender_ID..complainant and offender can have more than one registration..
Table structures: Complainant table(complaint_ID, last, first) Offender table(offender_ID, last, first) Registration table(registration_ID, complainant_ID, offender_ID, type, desc)
What I have done so far: Using separate dataset for each form. Complainant/Offender/Registration form load and save fine. But I do not know how to bind these Ids together so they stay in sync.. What I mean, when I add new complainant, take the complainant_Id, parse it to registration to create a new registration for that particular complainant, and also add an offender to that newly created registration, and pass offender_ID back to registration form. I am using visual studio 5 and sql express..
After making the changes or adding a record I use invoke childmethod from my toolbar to call these subs. The first table updates and adds, but the second does not. I have set all of my textboxes databindings and double checked them. I get no error, but it does not update the second table. What am I doing wrong?
Public Sub AddRecord() 'Clear out the input data fields on a new Add. ClearInputFields()
I have an VB application that I developed in Visual Studio 2008. The back end is SQL. Application stores quite a bit of information and gets updated daily by users. It also connects to AD to get u/p, adds new accounts in AD and adds mailboxes. Users connect to it through Citrix. We noticed big spikes in memory usage. The executable itself is less than 5Mb; if I run it and it opens main form - memory usage jumps to about 19Mb, open a report - it jumps to 80 Mb. If I open the form that is linked to multiple tables - it jumps to 157 Mb. Once users start pulling new information in, update it and connect to AD or Exchange - it could jump to 250 Mb. Also noticed that if user with read only rights has application opened and idle - memory usage constantly changes with a pattern like 17Mb - 19 Mb - 15 Mb - 17 Mb and so on. This user wasn't even using computer at the time. In general - what could cause such jumps in memory usage? What is the best way to prevent it? On the server we have Windows Server 2003 SE
I have to write an application that consists of mainly one main form, but several different things I wanna display. Pretty standard I guess. So there is a menu, some controls, and the main stuff below (ranging form graphs, tables, dropdown boxes, print preview, etc). I would like to use it like one would use frames in html, design an object that is limited to a box or panel that I define. The literature I have does not give me a clear idea of how to do this (yet). The most obvious seem to be the use of MDI, open a predefined form with no borders, maximize it before showing and remove all minimize/maximize options. But that does not work so well. The form inside the MDI parent does not fit the size that is given for it when it is loaded. e.g.
[CODE]:......................
So my main question is: Is MDI the way to go here at all or are there better/easyer ways to achieve this? If MDI is the way to go, how do I sucessfully restrict a child form inside another object, without giving the user any opportunity to resize (i noticed that I have minnimize/maximize/close buttons, even if I disable them on the child forms themselves)
have a datagridview containing 2 tables left joined, so that:table1 LEFT JOIN table 2 ON table1.id=table2.idI get an error whenever I try to edit my datagridview."invalidOperationException was unhandled by the user codeDynamic SQL generation is not supported against multiple base tables."The error points to this line:
da.FillSchema(dt, SchemaType.Mapped) da.Update(dt) << This line 'da = dataadapter
I would like to insert Radiobutton text value to my SQL database. I'm using Radiobutton for gender selection. I tried the code femaleRB.checked but it return a true value on my database. I want the text "Female" shown on my DB.
We are presently developing an application, let's call it APP1, which uses a SQL Database which have about 800 stored procedures, 600 tables, etc. APP1 was originally created in order to replace another application, APP0, from which we do not have source code but only SQL tables, Stored Procedures, views, etc. Previous programers of APP1 used some DB objects from this same database and added some other objects specific to APP1 because it becomes bigger than APP0. And we do not need APP0 anymore as APP1 does all what we want, and more.
So, now, we are thinking about a way to find out which objects are used by APP1 in order to remove objects which are ONLY used by APP0.What is the best approach to discover all objects used by APP1 without having to open every single class and form?
Once we will have a complete list of these objects, it will be easy to use a program we bought which detects all dependencies for all SQL Objects specified directly from SQL and remove objects which do not return from any dependencies. Any ideas of how I could get this list without having to go through all our program that have many, many, many classes and forms?
Note : I know, in a perfect world, all calls to PSs and tables should be in a DAL but in the case of the application we're presently working on ... this is not our case! Yippy! (sarcastic yippy) ;)
Note 2 : This application is not using any ORM. So all queries are directly using SqlCommand. So any call to any DB objects are in string format.
I have seen this happen before but am not sure how I resolved it in the past. On runtime the controls of my form change from the windows 7/vista format to an older version format as shown in the attached image.
How to display the controls in the format on the left (new windows format)
i am doing project of Order Accepting system for five star hotels.Scenario is Waiter will accept order using Window Mobile which is Connected to WiFi present in hotel.I want to communicate to database(Sql Server) present on My Machine (Computer present in kitchen) through WiFi and Add order into table present inside database. This should notify my application present on Compter and should print order. After completion of Order Application from kitchen will notify to waiter about completion. My problem is How to Communicate with database present on Remote computer using WiFi from windows Mobile.
I have a vb.net web application and when a particular function runs , i get data timeouts in the rest of the application..(ie..row not found errors or column does not belong to table but it does) The function is adding multiple rows in multiple tables in the database and is running in a for loop. It seems to be all SQL related but I am not seeing anything in the error logs in SQL or in the application Right now I am assuming it is memory related where to start note..the for loop will be replaced with a bulk insert but right now I jest need to resolve the issue of the timeouts
I have an application that I made in VB.NET. I put it in the server on my office and every other user access it via network connection. I only mapped the drive onto their computer and then I cope the shortcut to the application. can I close all the application that is running with a single code? I sometime need to close all the application first before I can do anything with the application (for example, modifying the report etc.). My current method is still the manual one, which is calling everyone to close their application or running all over the place closing the application myself.
I want to insert a Windows Media Player object in my Form, but I have not the control on my Toolbox.
I have done the steps:
Right-click the Toolbox -> Choose item -> COM Components -> add Windows Media Player component (which references to C:WindowsSystem32wmp.dll)
But there is not the control on my Toolbox.
In my project references I see "MediaPlayer" into "Imported namespaces" and it is checked. In the references window it is also present "Windows Media Player". Where is the error?
I have a VB.Net project that I am running from a local server and I need to use the credentials the user is currently logged in with to upload a file to a folder I create on a SharePoint site on the same domain. I can get it to upload if I specify the credentials but it will not work with system.net.credentialcache.defaultcredentials. It just gives me 3 empty strings and I get a 401 unauthorized error. I have seen a few threads that say you cannot use it with Windows Forms Applications. Is this true? Here is my code:
I Have one Windows Application in which i have one MDI Form (Say App1). And I too have another Windows Application in which I have a Child Form (Say App2). So now i want to Call App2 from App1 .. And want to Display App2 form As MDIChild in App1 MDI Form . I am Able to open the Form of App2 , But how to set It As App1' Child .
I have a console application code below. I am trying to convert this to a windows based form application but I don't know where to start. This code asks you to input a website and then it gives you the IP address for that particular website the user enters. All the code works fine but I want this in a windows form application.
using System; using System.Net; using System.Net.Sockets; class GTest
I am creating a program that interacts with another program and I would like to "inject" my program into this program as an MDI Child window. Is this even possible, and if so can it be done in VB.NET? What kind of pitfalls are associated with doing this?
I have a small project i am doing for work to compare our website catalogue to our actual inventory in our financial software. To do this, i have exported the online catalogue as a delimited text file using "^" as the delimiter. I then want to go into our Accpac data a find out if all the items are still active, the current price and the stock on hand.
