View 1 RepliesI am working in VB.NET windows forms and dealing with DataGridView.I have populated that DataGridView with the DataSet through wizard. How to Add , Delete and Edit/Update the records of the DATAGridview back to the DataBase..I am using MS Access as the Database....I am using Windows Forms application not the WEB application...

I Fill a DataTable using a SQLDataAdapter then use a BindingSource as my DataGridViews DataSource. My DataGridView contains a ComboBoxColumn named "Status". There are two ways to update the Status column. One, the user can change the value by clicking a cell in the column then the combobox appears and they make their selection. Second, the user can click a button on the form and the Status for all the visible rows are changed to "Exported". I use a stored procedure as my adapters Update command.

this code that i use just update the datagridview not update at dataset..anyone can tell me what wrong with my code.
Dim mResult
Dim ObjConnection As New SqlConnection()
mResult = MsgBox("Are sure want Update this record?", _

I have a datagridview that was bound using the wizard and all the column created that way. So I haven't done any code to bind the datagridview. It will pull the data from the database and dataset just fine. My problem is when I create a new row it won't update the dataset or database. I have tried different ways that I thought it would work in the code and still haven't found a usable way to do it yet. Or if I need to do all my binding and columns through code give me an idea where to start if I have to go that route. This is my first experiences with Datagridview. I normally use comboboxes and textboxes to write to a dataset and database which all work very well.
View 8 RepliesI have a vb.net form with a dataGridView
The dataGridView data source is the dgvTableAdapter with this sql statement
SELECT membres.ID, membres.refere_par, bands.titre,
membres_1.prenom & ' ' & membres_1.nom AS reference_nom
FROM ((bands INNER JOIN membres ON bands.ID = membres.[band])
INNER JOIN membres membres_1 ON membres.refere_par = membres_1.ID)
[Code]....
I know the delete statement works because I saw the changes in the database. If I close the form and reopen it, the dataGridView is up to date.
The membres table is an access table
I'm running the app in visual 2010 debug mode.
I bound my dataset to a datagridview and when I did any changes with the data in it and try to send it to the database (pressing a Button) got the error message:"InvalidOperationException error was handled.Update requires a valid UpdateCommand (or InsertCommand depend on the action)when passed DataRow collection with modified rows."I read the related posts but they didn't solve my problem. (I have primary key in the table and the AllowUserTo... properties are set to True.)My table is very simple:
ORG
Org_id Number PK
Org_name Char

I have a DataGridView bound to a DataView. The DGV is setup for FullRowSelect and is ReadOnly. The first column contains a CheckBox to show that the Row is ready for processing. The user double-clicks on the row and the box is checked in the CellDoubleClick event. This works great.
I have a RadioButton on the page to hide any checked items. This allows the user to only have to look at the work that needs to be done. I use a filter on the DataView to make this happen. At the end of the CellDoubleClick, I call my ApplyFilter method, but the current row still shows up.
I got around this once before by writing some code to see if I needed to move forward or backward a row and also compared if there were any rows available, etc.
It seems to me that this relates to the value not being persisted back to the DataSet until the CurrentRow is changed in the DGV. Is there a way to force this data back into the DataSet without having to programatically change the value directly in the DataSet?
I have a manually created a dataset (dsPickingList) that I add data too as the user inputs data on a form. There is a datagridview on my form of which it's datasource is set to dsPickingList.What I would like to do is spot if a user deleteds a row from the datagridview and update the dataset (dsPickingList) as it is ultimatly this dataset that is stored to the db and printed, not the DataGridView.[code]This is why I need the action from the DataGridView to update the dataset
View 1 RepliesWhat I am trying to do is update existing records in a dataset with an unbound datagridview. It updates just fine but I have added a simple backcolor change for errors. What I don't understand is it will update fine but throw the backcolor = red at the same time. Am I overlooking something here?
vb.net
For Each dr As DataRow In Form1.DbDataSet.Tables("tblInventory").Select() For Each row As DataGridViewRow In DataGridView1.Rows If row.Cells("colInventoryID").Value = vbEmpty Then 'Do Nothing Else If dr.Item("Inventory ID").ToString() = row.Cells("colInventoryID").Value.ToString() And

I'm trying to get this working in a test application before adding it to my main project, so that's why the names of controls are the way they are.The errors I'm trying to show are if "Inventory ID", "Cart" and "Shelf" do not match. When they don't match it doesn't update, which is what it is supposed to do. However, if they do match they update just fine but also show the Inventory ID error. If I comment out that ElseIf for the Inventory, it throws the Cart error. It's like the ElseIf blocks get called even if the If statement is true...
I am trying to use the combobox to update/edit/view the saved data (in contact form) from sql server.
My Load_Combobox (in contact form):
Private Sub Load_Combobox()
'Type
cboType.Items.Add("Director")
cboType.Items.Add("Principal")
cboType.Items.Add("Project Manager")
cboType.Items.Add("Technical Manager")
[Code] .....
The problem now is when I saved a record into sql server (EG Technical Manager) and try to view back the saved data, it always show the first item (Director) in combobox. But, my sql server has saved is "Technical Manager" for that saved record.
how to edit and update in relational table's record in visual basic 2010?
have two tables with Relationship

2, Order_Details
"Orders" Related with "Order_Details" ( OrderID )
now i want to Edit and update. Record in "Order_Details" ( "Pencil" to "Pencils" ) Then Update changes

When the user clicks an "Edit" button on my form, I want a box to come up which allows the user to edit a DataTable in a strongly-typed DataSet. What's the best way to do this?
View 2 RepliesI am currently developing an application that is linked to a MS SQL Server 2008 Database. So now I realised that I needed to make a few minor changes to the database (add new columns to some tables, change the data type of a few columsn in some tables). After making the changes, I realised that these changes have not been updated in my VB application's dataset. I then tried to "refresh" the dataset, but it still is not updating the dataset. What do I need to do to update the dataset to reflect the changes in the database?
View 1 RepliesI'm developing an application where depending on a textfile input i should update/insert some data into an Access database. Let;s say I'm updating the bookshelf of a book according to a textfile that goes like:
TEXTBOOK | BOOKSHELF
000000001 | 000000000A
and so on
[Code]....
does that make any sense? What I'm trying to do is basicalle: check if a book exists, if yes, then attach to Dataset, change its Bookshelf to the one in the textfile and repeat until the file is completely read. The Bookshelf can or not exists, if it doesn't then it should be inserted, is it done automatically when I update the Dataset? Finally "Batch update" the whole Dataset.
I am programmatically updating some columns in a datagridview. When the user has also updated some columns then my program generated changes are also saved to the database (MSAccess). If the user does not update a dgv column, my program edits are not saved. I have read in another posting somewhere that I should be updating the bindingsource rather than the dgv cells. I have some code that was attempting to do this but it doesnt work.
Dim dvr As Data.DataRowView
With TblClassMembersDataGridView
.EndEdit()
.CommitEdit(DataGridViewDataErrorContexts.Commit)
[code]....
PS. Is the bindingsource in a on-to-one relationship with the table returned by the Fill method? If not, I can see one obvious error.
I' newbie and i dont understand why this won't work TableName is String "Tab"DataGridMain is name of DataGridView.[code]
View 5 RepliesI'm loading a table from a MySQL-server, which loads fine, but I also get the following error:
Error 5: Index was out of range, Must be non-negatives and less then the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index
This is how I load the database:
vb.net
mysqlAdapter.SelectCommand = mysqlComm
mysqlAdapter.Fill(mysqlTable)
mysqlReader = mysqlComm.ExecuteReader
While mysqlReader.Read
sbar_progress.Value += 1
beslag_dg_beslag.DataSource = mysqlTable
End While
I have a datagridview and i want it to display the results from a query. How would i go about doing this. Here is my code so far:
Dim searchStr As String = S_date_menuItem.Text.Remove(0, S_date_menuItem.Text.IndexOf("'") + 1)
searchStr = searchStr.TrimEnd("'")
adapter = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("select * from account where Date= @Date", acctconstr)
adapter.SelectCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Date", searchStr)
that is my query but i don't know how to get my datagrid to display the results.
I have a trouble updating my records to SQL. I have a programme, It will save user entered records from spreadgrid to sql server using "do while, loop" method. Later it will load the saved record to the same spreadgrid for editing the records by programatically not using the inbuilt datasource method.the problem is how to update the old records with the newly added records programatically especially with "do while, loop" method. I hate the data adaptor method.[code]....

I am using following code to edit and update field in my databse table. But it does not cast any effect on database.
Dim drCurrent As DataRow
drCurrent = DbResultDataSet.tblResult.Rows(0)
MsgBox(drCurrent.Item("PaperID"))
drCurrent.BeginEdit()
drCurrent.Item("PaperID") = "433"
drCurrent.EndEdit()
TblResultTableAdapter.Update(DbResultDataSet.tblResult)
i am using MsAccess as database.insert/edit/delete commands are working perfectly in my code. the problem is that if i insert a record it is definitly inserted in table in MsAccess but that cannot be seen on runtime. To see that inserted record i have to close MsAccess Table to verify that the record is inserted there. And also I have to stop debugging and then restart debug to see that the record is being displayed in Datagridview. How i can changes in records can be seen on runtime in DatagridView as well as in the MsAccess table on runtime.

View 5 RepliesI have a DataGridView bound to a non-SQL Server database. I need to allow users to edit existing records but under certain circumstances I need to intercept the edit and instead of committing and updating the dataset I need to delete the edited record and re-add it as a new record. I have tried using every event I can think of to do this but haven't managed to get it right.
The closest I have got is with this:
Dim theRow As DataGridViewRow
Private loading As Boolean = True
Private rowLeft As Boolean = False
Private WithEvents cm As CurrencyManager
Dim copiedRow0 As String
[Code] .....
This almost works but sometimes completely messes up and re-adds rows twice and all kinds of other bad side effects. It seems a really simple thing to want to do but I just can't get it working.
